Short 15 mile coffee shop run this am. My legs really felt the effect of some new quad/hamstring exercises at the gym yesterday. One more easy gym session and a short ride on Wednesday is all there is before the Palm Springs century this Saturday. Temperatures forecast to reach 74F:D

Sunny, 50 degrees, 23 MPH wind -- great ride. The burst of speed at the end shows what happened when we hit the coast, and had a perfect tailwind.

I left the job early and rode around here a bit. http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u...S2010014-2.jpg http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u.../S20100162.jpg http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u...S2010010-5.jpg |
15 mile coffee ride - last ride before this Saturday's Palm Springs Century. We need to think "slow" at the start.

Wind trainer after work for 35 minutes (9.53 miles). Harder effort (and much less enjoyable) than on the asphalt, but was dark, 42F and raining outside.

Good ride except for the wind. Tempe Town Lake actually had some white caps when I went over it. It made some of the ride easy and some of it not so easy.

21 miles today at an easy pace; its a recovery day from yesterday's trainer session of steady state intervals. Sunny but chill with some wind today, probably up to the mid 30's. Rode pavement mostly till I hit snow and then turned around. Did a leisurely meandering ride after the turnaround and stopped at LBS for a set of fenders for the road bike. Then a bit of gravel for bike handling skill and a bunch of climbing to get home.
Tomorrow I'll mount the fenders and meander around the neighborhood to test them out. There is rain and snow in the forecast for the next several days. |
51 miles today. Almost two weeks of not being on the bike. Sure felt good. 74 degrees, sunny, slight breeze, the mountains were beautiful. Easy pace and enjoyed the ride.
|
Not today. Today was volunteer day at a woman's help center in town.
|
Only 20 miles today, but it was all climbing (wellll...one descent), many of the grades were over 12%. My, it felt good! I have a 10K run on Sunday, so tomorrow will be a down day. Even so, I will WANT to ride, but won't. I need to be recovered for that 10K. I'm not a runner, but I'm going to give it a good try!

NO! I got rained out on a Sat AM for the first time since I started riding 2 yrs ago. I woke at 6:15 and went in the B.R. and heard rain on the skylight. I looked out at the pool and saw those tell-tale concentric circles dotting the pool service. A quick look the the weather radar showed that I wouldn't be clearing up any time soon. It's now noon and just starting to clear. But now I have to go set up for my daughter's baby shower. Maybe tomorrow? Weather looks good.

Sorry you could not ride. I would go out today - supposed to up to 50F - but my wife still needs me to help re: total knee replacement. |
Third ride of 2011...36 miles 40° windy, felt good.
|
Ten miles on a sunny mid-30's morning.
|
12 1/2 miles all on road. Windy and chilly with high snow banks but roads were pretty clear. The Bedford end of the Minuteman trail not quite ready yet.... Talked to LBS and he said private group plows trail but ran out of money around 3rd or 4th storm.

A very balmly day in the low 30s - so much more pleasant than the deep cold of January. I did 25 miles with the club. This was a much faster ride than the one's I've been doing with my snow bike. Someone pointed out that I had the double disadvantage of super-fat tires and big full fenders that catch extra wind resistance. I thought I'd get left in the dust, but I didn't, though I did have to suck on others' wheels for much of the ride.

7th ride of the year 13.3 miles 59:26 // 52* // 12mph wind (73 miles ytd) -- life is good

I had a good ride today, but for some unknown reason I just didn't "have it" today.
I enjoyed it anyway, it was good to feel the endorphins anyway. http://connect.garmin.com/activity/67937362 |
38 miles today despite a stiff headwind for the first half. Saw only one other cyclist. Overcast and temps in the upper 40's which was nice for my toes, they usually get pretty cold.:)
First ride with the spiffy new fenders on the road bike. They took a bit of fiddling to fit correctly but they gave me no problems today. :thumb: Later tonight I'll check everything over (tighten any loose nuts) and clean/lube the chain. Tomorrow will likely be an easy day on the trainer as the forecast is calling for a week of nasty weather. |
Finally the wife and I got some "miles", (20), on the bents, it's been "COLD", even today was thick high clouds so not much sun but it did make 40F, it felt so good to ride. We are still "building up the Recumbent Body" and the wife has hardly any miles in the last 3 weeks. Hope you all got out today! :)
|
Got out for 51 miles and 3400' of climbing today. Pretty day that started chilly, made more so by snow along the roadside. Later in the day it warmed to 60º and was a windy, but perfect day for a ride.
|
The weather was awesome so I did 31 miles. It could have ended after about 9-10 miles. Read this to learn why.
|
Did 12 yesterday & 20 today. This is after about a year off the bike due to a health issue. Hope to be back to 30 miles or so in about a month. Then want to get back to 50 miles again which is pretty much the most I ever ride. Felt good today!
|
Five weeks after taking delivery of our new RANS Screamer, my stoker and I were finally able to get out for a modest (five miles) first ride. Woo-hoo! Very nice and my stoker agrees.
Later, rode another ten miles by myself on a 50F sunny afternoon. (Not on the tandem) Life is good even if my fitness has atrophied over the dark months. Is it almost Spring yet? |
