No ride today :(, bike is in the shop for a tune-up :). Left it this afternoon, will get it back tomorrow .

20 mile rt commute. It gets hot later this week so I may be done for the week.

Great ride today. SART Yorba Linda Park to Seal Beach and back with a stop in Huntington beach for a bite and a Monster for energy. Tail wind for the 22 mile return and it seemed like I coasted for an average speed of 18 mph. Lots of old guys on bike today. Emough to make a60 year old feel young. Until im passed by Willey on a beach cruiser. dong 25+ MPH. I hate old guys.

Yup, I rode today. ;) A sweet 15 mile utility ride to the Ford service center to pickup my F150.. I rode my 85 Raleigh Prestige.. What a ride!! ;) When I got there, I checked out to see if my F150 was up to snuff. It was, I hooked the Raleigh Prestige to the rack, and drove the 15 miles back home. Sweet ride both ways...:thumb:

Today's ride was fantastic! Sunny, 80*, light breeze. I only did about 20 miles but it was a ride full of wildlife - first I saw a baby snapping turtle on the side of the path; then, a short while later, a large owl came gliding through the trees, crossing the road right ahead of me chased by 2 blue jays; and about a mile later when I rounded a turn, there was a big doe standing in the middle of the road. I tried to stop, but she spooked and bounded off into the woods. There was a smile on face almost the whole ride. |

I did the same thing yesterday, but I was dropping my Honda Element off to get some brake work done, with a side trip to the store. :)

Today’s ride:
Left the house at 6:30 AM this morning and rode with 2 friends north on the Seminole Wekiva Trail. Stopped at Panera Bread and took a water break and had some breakfast. From Panera I rode north to the horse farms then west to the Sylvan Lake Trail Head. After a short break we headed south and home. When we got back to where my friends had parked their car we discovered that two other cars had been broken into. It’s really a shame that you can’t leave your car at a trail head and not have it broken into. Statistics for: 06/07/2011 Miles today: 46+ Mileage this month May: 263+ (on track for another 1,000 mile month) Mileage this year: 4240 (60.5 % of my 2011 goal) Over/under riding days 2011 vs. 2010: +8 Over/under miles 2011 vs. 2010: +1222 miles Average miles per ride this year: 40.7 Average miles per ride this month: 52+ Number of rides over 50 miles this month/total ride days this mo. 3/5 Miles needed to hit my 2011 goal of 7,000: 2759, and an 8,500 mile year (would be my best ever) is not out of reach. |
Yes, I did! Only 33.44 miles, but it was one of THOSE rides - I had legs, I had strength, I had reserves, I had everything I could ask for! In the last three days, I've ridden 98.96 miles and run 7 miles. Today, i climbed well, I recovered very well, and I was towards the front of the group on the last big climb. The coup de grace was the "sprint finish" - a few of the stronger riders, fellas, always go off the front of the group on the last fast section we cover "before the traffic". I went with three of those guys, from the rear of the pack, off of the front. 200 yards from the stop sign at the end of that road, the second rider in the break made a move and a sprint formed. I was passed by three fellas who were behind me (there was so much wind noise I didn't know they were there), but NOT BY MUCH. I stayed in the drops and gave it my all, and I laughed every foot of the way, it was so exhilarating! I was seventh to the stop sign, but so what, I had just done something I had never done before, and it was just soooo cool!!!
What a ride! |
12.2 miles @ 19.2 ave this morning, before work.

20 miles total today in my Bike Commuter role. Low 90's and high Ozone. Tried not to overdo it.
|
Did 10 miles on the mountain bike, fairly easy pace, not too aggressive. Got back home and my Wife wanted to ride the mountain bike today. Repeated the 10 miles with her a bit slower. Pretty warm and windy in Scottsdale today so the 20 miles pretty well did me in. TJMAX

Took the bus in my riding gear to the Bike Shop, didn't feel like driving. A few strange looks, but no comments. Picked up the bike, rode it home, 14 miles. Almost had my first clipless accident, but at the last second was able to get unclipped and save myself. I am sure some driver's at the light were trying to figure out what I was doing, but at least I didn't fall over. I didn't really think about anything, took in the scenery, and just enjoyed the nice weather.

12.4 @ 19.7 this morning before work

Blowout at mile 6 last night! And it was such a nice night for a ride too, I was going to do 30 miles... First bike flat in the 21st century for me - either I've had really good luck or haven't ridden (rode?) very much. Spare tube in, but tire sidewall is split so limped back home. New tires tonight, $Ching.
