Did a nice and easy 20 mile ride with the bike club this morning. First ride in three days of trying to get rid of this cold I picked up on Thursday. No problems with the cold on the ride. Beautiful weather in the low to mid 80's, no humidity and plenty of sunshine.

29 miles on a Windy and seasonal October day. 20mph steady wind with 30mph gusts, according to local news sources.

Rode with NealH on the Tour de Leaves out of Tryon, NC. Absolutely fantastic day for a ride. I think we started in the 40s and finished at 70º. But that was only at the end, most of the ride was at a higher elevation and so nice and cool. 67 miles in 4:15 ride time (15.7 ave)/ 4:30 total with over 5000' of sometimes stupidly steep climbing. Left my Garmin at home charging. It's just as well, I didn't need to see my HR on some of those climbs.

15 miles with the wife, then a few more on the 'bent. Two garage flats to start out!! Changed bikes.

24 miles and stop at the "other" LBS to have the tandems rear derailer adjustment checked out. Blustery day but VERY warm for Oct. in So. CO.!! The tandem is finally starting to feel like a old friend. :)

Was going to do a rest day but did a 24 mile ride(to work off the extra slice of pizza I had Friday evening). I also had a nice adventure in that while riding I encountered a 5K run. The road was not closed off--it was still open to traffic. The runners seemed to not want to give way...taking up the whole lane(lanes are split off with a grassy, tree lined median). I was way to the left on the travel lane. What, am I supposed ride in the opposing traffic lane and not follow traffic laws? I just took a detour since it seemed many of the runners appeared obtuse and I didn't want to witness a runner being squashed by a car.

Rode the Foxy's 100K today in Davis, CA. The 100K is pretty flat so we were able to average 16.8 mph on the tandem. Not bad for seniors who have only been riding once a week over the last 3-4 weeks. Weather was near perfect, but warming as we finished at noon. We've ridden the Century the prior two years and it's a much more interesting ride with some actual downhills; we'll train more for next year.

It was raining so hard in Juneau today, I went to the pool and tried to get my freestyle working. Jeff ...58. Hoping for a few more cycling days here as winter's wet, and short days close in. Jeff

I've lived in several Texas cities/towns and have yet to encounter Pipe Creek and this kind of terrain. Yes, I'd ride it. Thanks for posting a pic that proves Texas has topography that's not flat. Is this in the Hill Country?

I did an early "ride your age" birthday ride with some girlfriends today; we rode the hilliest, prettiest parts of the Foxy's Fall Century. 66.1 miles, 3479', 15 mph, with my friends singing a crazy, inspired, creative birthday song at mile 57. That made my day! Yes, it was a near-perfect day, warm toward the end but not unbearably so. Overall a very fun ride.

104 miles, and a smidge under 10K of climbing.

The ride is mostly in PA along the Susquehannah river. I had no idea they had hills in that area. Man oh man oh man. Some of the steepies were just insane. I actually had to get off and walk about 50 yards of one of the climbs. My Garmin was showing 26% grade at that point. I doubt that's actually correct, but I literally could not keep moving. I clipped out just in time to keep from falling over.

We had a serious strong wind all day. Steady 20MPH with some gusts above 30. Fortunately the wind gods were amused at my pain, so they cooperated to some extent. We had a head wind during the first half, and mainly a tailwind with some strong crosswinds on the return. I got a pretty good scare at one point when I was hit by a strong cross-wind on a descent, and it popped my front wheel about an inch to the left. Ulp!

Rode 20 miles today. Ride started out at 53°F and ended at 58°.

Still trying to shake this cold so I did a slow 15 mile ride with the wife at the usual wilderness park. Gorgeous weather for cycling. I think everyone had the same idea about going to the park because the place was packed.

As DnvrFox pointed out, there are indeed mountains in Texas! :) I love Big Bend and want to get back there again, but in particular I like the Davis Mountains area north of it. There are many cycling opportunities there:

About 40 Saturday on my touring bike. 23 today, with the dog trike.

It was so windy today, that going down a slight hill into the wind was a lot more work than coming home going up a slight hill with the tailwind.

Yesterday and today: Rode the Hilly Hundred. (Actually about 108 mi.) Rode the V3 yesterday and today shared the ride on the Screamer with wife/stoker. Holy cow, the Hilly Hundred is hilly! 9170 feet of climbing.

In the spirit of full disclosure, we walked up Mt. Tabor today. As did many others.

Did my regular 33 miler yesterday on the Felt. No spectacular fall pictures. The drought has really done a number of the trees and foliage. Everything is going from green to brown. Many smaller trees and bushes has died from lack of rain. If I see something "spectacular" I'll post a pic.

Rode my 20 today in some blustery winds but still managed an overall avg of 16.3 mph. After I got home, grabbed a piece of mail and a check I needed to cash and rode to the Post Office and the bank. I was too early for the bank--so, I road around the back neighborhoods(probably around 4 miles) for 20 minutes and then back to the bank. I wonder what the teller thought when she saw a guy and a bicycle at the drive-thru window?

Had a faster and very windy ride. Steady 15 to 20 mph winds with some higher gusts. My speed topped 30mph on a flat section, but with some help from the wind. 39 miles in 2 hours, 10 minutes.

So ashamed. :twitchy:

Now I just feel slow.
