First day off the bike in 5 days: 17 miles of solo interval training on Thursday, 23 mile (round trip) commute on Friday, 55 mile group ride Saturday, 50 mile group ride Sunday, 85 mile group ride Monday. I'm toast! Plus now I'm on a 24-hour all-liquid diet in preparation for tomorrow's colonoscopy, so I'm not sure I should be riding today...

After spending all morning at the Social Security Office with the wife (she's retiring in June), today was suppose to be my "no ride" day. I had to do some other things this afternoon before my cataract surgery on Thursday but when we got home, the wife wanted to go ride. I ended up doing 6 miles around the neighborhood.

Didn't ride Sunday because I felt like crap, decided to ride yesterday just to get this crappy feeling (Head Cold) to go away!! So I took an easy spin and kept the heart rate under 145 bpm, 15 mi out I get a flat. Well the last month I've helped acouple of fellow cyclist and gave away my tubes that I carry in my pocket, just to help out. So I reach for my 3/4 cut off water bottle container where I keep a tube and CO2 quick shot with a couple of CO2 containers. So I pulled out my CO2 quick shot and noticed that my presta adapter was missing. I had given it to my daughter that started riding her road bike up at UC Davis, so she would be setup in case of aflat.
Well , I had this really nice girl pull over that was visiting from Santa Barbara. She was on her way to riding 70 mi that day. She had a mini pump that didn't seem to work and a CO2 that was meant for a schrader valve. Not a good day for me!!
Needless to say I had to call the sag wagon.. It's been a long time since that happened. Going to give it another shot this morning, but this time I made sure that I had tubes and an adapter that I needed to fixa simple flat!!
Yeah, it's been so long since I got a flat that I took itfor granted thinking I had everything. I guess a quick check of your bailout gear wouldn't hurt from time to time.
It was a much better today!!

Nearly 24 miles today, a small detour added to my normal 23 mile route, at my best avg mph since being off the bike for a month.

Bikes: Since the van encounter, I ride a 2013 Trek Domane 4.5, but a piece of my heart will always belong to the 1994 Specialized Epic that started me off in road bikes. It's relegated to an indoor trainer now, and I also have a Spinning brand indoor cycle

50 miles Sunday, 18 Monday, 23 yesterday (with a trip for some stitches after a close encounter with the side of a bridge)... taking today off. I'll be back out tomorrow if the LBS pronounces my bike okay.

Serious karma going down here.
Anyway, went for 38 miles on a very relaxed club ride. I'd done this ride before, and no one is in a hurry. Still, it felt good to pass people going uphill whilst on my bent. And going downhill: Katie bar the door.

20 miles today, and carried 4 cans of potato soup for Mrs. GA most of the way . Saw some Red-Winged Blackbirds, the sun was out, so it must be Spring .

13 miles this evening. Mid-50's, dry, breezy but that was fine on the way back to home. Felt more like Spring than Winter.

Commuted to work again today, so I'll have ~22 miles round trip tonight...unless I swing by the park on the way home and do a few laps. Crazy weather like this -- it's currently 57°F in February! -- needs to be taken advantage of.

After about a week of back pain (that is what you get from laying down flooring...............), made 28 miles this morning. Hot tub and ice before the ride, again after. Feel pretty good. Planning on 12 tomorrow morning before meeting with nutritionist at noon.
