I'm doing this 30 Days of Cycling Challenge (thanks, Twitter!). Started off great; full of enthusiasm, tandem fun, group & solo rides with lots of challenge.
After this last weekend my legs have cried for a day off, so I altered Monday's and today's rides to accommodate them...not that anything was a recovery ride, but certainly not the pain-fests I had planned. I have 2 TTs and a road race left in the month. I have no expectations of glory in any of them, so we'll see. I'm happy to be able to get out there and ride.:) |
Did the bike shop group mtb ride last night. We rode at a local place called The Gnome Trails, named after the gnomes build them in the dead of night.
We were out for 1 1/2 hours, did about 6 miles and had a lot of fun. There use to be a lot of ATV activity in there so the gnomes built the trails to twist through the trees and bank along the side of the hills to try to keep the atv's off the singletrack. It's not a real technical place but you do have to pay attention to get through the trees and not catch the end of you handle bars. For this ride I demo-ed the Yeti SB66. The Yeti climbs beautifully and rides amazingly smoothly, with the suspension absorbing the rocks and roots like they are not even there - which is great when you're zipping down a rough hill - but I found it too soft & cushy when trying to navigate the turns on singletrack. |
I ride everyday. Cars are for the zombie hordes!

Had a good ride today, No rain No high winds and much warmer than on Saturdays Tour de Mesa's ride. 75+ miles.

23 miles starting at the crack of dawn. Rain was predicted later...still hasn't come...but at least it wasn't nearly as windy when I road than it was at 9am(when I often start).
Got 45 miles into my scheduled 60 miler when the skies got really dark. Since I hadn't started the last lap, I decided to call it quits rather than get drenched. Skies are a much lighter gray, but it hasn't rained one drop. Just my luck!
According to the weather channel, it is going to rain on Saturday and Sunday when I'm doing the MS 150. What fun! I hate riding in the rain. |
First time I've been out since surgery last week. Was allowed to do 10, but I rode 25 because of the nearly perfect weather.
16 miles today, beautiful spring weather. 88 miles this month
Yea but I'm not bragging about it. i went to the store for a couple of items and dang, if they didn't have a sale on stuff I couldn't say no to. I went home and got the car. Not exactly the plan I had mapped out. I think I did about 5 miles.
Did my usual 25 mile round trip commute. Light to moderate traffic, and as usual quite courteous. Cool weather in the morning. I had taken a fleece shirt in my pack, and after getting only a block from the train station I stopped and put it on. For the ride home there was a cold headwind out of the east. I had expected it would be warmer, but no. I stayed warm from pedaling hard but put the fleece back on while waiting for the train.

18 mile ride this evening after getting home from work.
Miileage improving all the time
Working my way back from last Fall's fall I did 24.6 miles today on a nice blossoming Spring morning with a bit of a headwind. Good to see some of my old landmarks and seamarks.
Tweaked my schedule so I could ride mid-day. It's nearly 80*, nary a cloud in the sky, and the verdant green of the hills combined to make this one of the sweetest rides of the month.
Well, didn't think I'd get a ride today, but the weather cleared and road 23 miles after lunch.
10 in the books.
58.6 @ 16.1 with the Thursday group
23 miles this morning.
20 miles this morning in a brisk wind most of the way. On vacation in Fort Davis, Texas, and took a ride from town, out 10 miles on the Davis Mountains Scenic Loop and back. No mountain climbing (are you kidding?? :-), but since I equate wind with a movable hill... Beautiful low-60s F temps and clear blue semi-desert skies. I've discovered the difference between living my life at 100 feet elevation and riding here at 5,000 feet... it's about 4,900 feet! :)
Did my 25 mile commute today. Breezy, cool but not cold. Had a 1/4 mile stretch where the pavement had been ground up in preparation for repaving. That was a fun stretch. Better'n cobblestones!
Just finished a nice 21 mile ride through local parks and and around lakes before dark at a 15 mph pace. Beautiful weather and many trees in bloom. Life couldn't be much better!
Wife and I did 24 miles early am on the tandem. Temperatures were perfect; it's going to get a bit warm later today. No hard rides until the Chico Velo Wildflower 100K next Sunday. This will be a nice two day getaway.

Tracked down by Da Boyz for sport :(
It was pretty cute. I rode through a subdivision on my way to ride in another subdivision when I hear behind me, "Look, there's a recumbent!". Soon I'm surrounded by droogem on BMX bikes. "You caught me!" I told them. "You guys rock!". It made their day. I went 24 miles. No dogs, no flats, no Sno-balls. I did treat myself to a decaf Java Chip at Starbucks. |
Had a good ride today with a early AM departure of 3:38 AM to avoid the heat some what.
80+ miles http://connect.garmin.com/activity/170367169 http://app.strava.com/rides/7129688 |
We do a monthly Game Night with friends and it's our turn to make dinner and be the host today. We had to do a "short" ride 20 miles on our favorite MUP from Co. Springs to Manitou Springs. Had a quick lunch and then on home to set up for Game Night! :)

Oh what a BEAUTIFUL ♫ ♪♫♪ day for a bike ride! Weather was actually warm & sunny. My sit bones are beginning to get used to my bike. Had more obstacles to work around, as all the neighbors cars were lined up on both sides of the street, kids playing ball in the road, and the occasional skateboarder. Great practice for dodging and braking. No little kids were harmed and I didn't dump the bike. Put in a good 5 miles. Looking forward to doing it again tomorrow. :ride:
