I had a nice 60 mile social ride with the Akron Bicycle Club. The pace was ideal with the slightly faster sub-group averaging between 18-19 mph, I stayed with this group for the first 40 miles. The slightly slower sub-group held 15-16 mph which was better for me at this time of the year, so I finished the ride with them.
Perfect weather with partly cloudy skies and 65 to 80F temperatures. I'm getting to know NE Ohio.

Yes, but I think I left my legs out on the course. 62.6 miles in just under 5 hours ride time. Lots of climbing.

Strava gives and Strava takes away. I have a training loop that I get better and better at, but I go further and further back on the leader board, and I was trying even.
Oh well. 20 miles in great weather.

Did 16mi. this morning and another 16mi. this evening. It was 86 deg. here today. I could have used a nice cool breeze, but I guess it will mostly get warmer before it cools off again.
Seems like all of the bikeys were out today. Everywhere I looked today while running errands I saw folks churning pedals. Glad to see so many folks out there.

41 miles with nice, overcast & partially sunny weather. I passed on the 80 mile training ride because I'm doing a half marathon tomorrow.
Note to self: signing up for a half marathon on the day after Cinco de Mayo is really not a good idea.

43 miles on a flat club ride in sunny, 80's, very humid weather. Got a good workout trying to catch up with the fast group - I let 'em get away at the start. Ended up letting them take the long route while I took the medium route to the midway SAG. Then, when they continued on from the SAG, I went with them and was able to hang for 8-9 miles before they got away again. Between the engine and the bike, I had difficulty getting back up to speed whenever the group slowed down for a turn or intersection. "Easier to keep up than to catch up." I need a turbocharger button.
Between chasing and cruising fast with the pack, I averaged 17+mph today, which may be a personal best for 40+ miles.
Did I mention that this was in rural Indiana?

Early morning loosen the legs up ride with NealH on the BRP. Beautiful morning for a ride with perfect temps in the 50s. Ahhhh, summer kit, 50s just perfect. I was tired from yesterday's efforts but it the ride today was just what my legs needed. Short 17.4 miles and about 1800' of climbing on an empty road. Lovely!

Five riders on a nice 31 mile Sunday morning group ride through the northwest corner of our county. Went through some poor areas of the county where the small, 4 to 5,000 sq ft shacks
are located and then to a llama ranch and tree farm. I lived here all my life and never knew we had llama ranches. The weather was perfect and the ride was well paced. Then it was off to the bagel shop for some breakfast; Cuban bread and Cuban coffee ... ummm ummm ummm!

I rode 16 mi today on the Schuylkill River Trail near Valley Forge National Park. This was about half of what I intended to ride, but for the second Sunday in a row, they were holding a charity Walk-a-Thon on part of the trail (this week it was the M.S. Walk-a-Thon) where I wanted to ride, greatly disrupting my plans. However, I always try to adhere to the philosophy that any ride is a good ride, so I just went in a different direction and rode in an area I've seldom visited before.

36 mile club ride this morning - again hot and humid by early May standards. Today's ride included both flat farmland and some hilly sections.

Today I decided to do a relaxing subdivision ride. I felt pretty good after one loop so I decided to rramp it up and see if I could recapture a KOM before the hardcore roadies discover it. I took two and a half minutes off the prior best time. I feel like I just won the Olympic TTs. Silly, I know.

I did 5.9 miles today. I was flat out on energy. It wasn't hot at 87 degrees, the head wind was 5-6 mph, Humidity was 50%. I just could not put on any miles. My ride time was 40 minutes. I had two bottles of water. I usually take one Power Aid and one water. The highest HR I had was 99, and my average HR was only 96. I was totally exhausted. After the 5th mile I was stopping every 1/4 of a mile. I was just running on empty. I limped back to the van and went home. I didn't want to risk my implanted ICD going off because I was pushing it just to get down the block. Today I think my heart failure got the best of me. I guess having an EF of 30 doesn’t' help either. Excuses, excuses. More than likely it was a Kryptonite shower last night. No magic today.

Just my usual 20mi. loop this afternoon. The north wind was a nice change of pace from the last week or so. With the cloud cover it was just a pretty nice ride. More miles and more smiles!

A very nice and relaxed 27 mile ride along the scenic Cuyahoga River in the late afternoon using my Cyclocross/29er bike, I traveled along the Tow-path for 12 miles and returned on Akron-Peninsula Rd. After slowing for a motorcycle accident, I rode with a 20-something cyclist and racer from Strongville. We talked about our own collisions with cars (and, in her case, a Semi) while cycling. She stated she was going to complete the RAAM this year, for the second time. She sure looked like the real-deal on her Cevelo S3 and was far faster than my 20 mph pace.
It must have been a sight, with a petite & young cyclist on a S3 riding along side a 200 pound guy on a 28 pound monstercross bike with fenders, 40 spoke wheels and fat tires. At least the pace was respectable.
It crossed my mind to exchange contact info, but I wished her goodnight and rode into the sunset.

Rode in the light of the full moon last night for about 5 miles. First time riding at night - loved it! I need a better headlight, but will definitely ride at night again - especially during July and August.

Saturday 50 miles on the touring bike. Loaded with tent and clothing for an overnight. I had put a new tire on the back and with the weight on the front it was unstable at low speed (5 mph)
Sunday: Put new tire on front. Went from a 32mm (Kenda Eurotrek) to a 35mm Preformance Forte St Cross and went for a test ride of 4 miles.
Finding out that you don't steer a loaded touring bike. You just lean what direction you want to go and wait for a few seconds for the bike to react.
Update I too the trek 1420 out and did 28.3 miles in 2:40 . Something like 5min 36sec to ride a mile . . That front derailleur hates me
