No riding all this week until Sat. Spending time with my 6yr old grandson in Maimi Children's Hosp. while mom and dad are at work. He had a bone marrow transplant.

He's in a isolation room with limited contact. I as well as mom and dad are the 3 non staff people that are allowed to be with him. He is very bored, and has mouth sores. But he's a trooper. Can't wait to be riding the tandem together again. A few weeks, I hope.

bobthib, from one Floridian to another I am keeping some fingers crossed and saying a little prayer for your grandson. I hope to hear that you are riding the tandem together again soon.

I'll keep good thoughts for his speedy recovery. Glad you can spend some time with him. You seem to be a really cool grandfather. He's a lucky boy.

As I said/,Took the Jeep[a very off road model with a heavy duty winch]to the woodlot to start wood harvesting I expected much cooler than it was ,needed my sweater but it was a lovly ride.Im looking forward to work in this beautiful area that borders what is called the dear meadow that meanders for 10 miles before emptying into a tidal basin of the upper Sheepscot river./Kenneth

A repeat of Tuesday's ride, with more people overall and 3 especially sketchy riders. I didn't stay up with the leaders and when I found myself in the back of the pack, surrounded by the sketchy guys, I eased up enough to get gapped, then time-trialled around the rest of the loop.

Looking forward to another day off...

Brothers B-day today he wants to ride 64 but it is raining this morning, I hope he gets to go. I would have liked to ride with him but work keeps getting in the way. I hate that

28.3 miles this morning. There was supposed to be no riding for me from yesterday to Monday since I was going out of town but it did not take place because of an illness. So I decided to get on the bike this morning feeling good after yesterday. Just noticed I have gone over 2K miles this year but with just few days till the official end of summer, there will be less saddle time in the coming weeks. Riding season is coming to a close unless the weather cooperate by not dropping snow on the pavement.

Rode 11 miles each way to work and back today. Like a crap sandwich made with really good bread. There are some tough hills on the ride home and I hit them pretty hard to see if I could manage to push a higher gear at a decent cadence. I handled it better than I expected so I kept pushing all the way home to get the most from a short ride. It felt good, especially when I stopped.

44 miles and nothing too exciting to report. I sure wish I lived nearer to some either steeper hills or longer hills. I am planning on going to the Blue Ridge Mountains soon to try and climb one.

Saturday was a forced rest day - nothing but rain all day. Sunday's not looking to be all that promising either.

About 44 miles and 3600' of climbing (1850' in 4.4 miles) this morning. I had dead legs today and it feels like I'm fighting a chest cold. Hope it passes.

It must be really tough to motivate yourself to ride in places like this. How on earth do you do it???
