Rode 25 miles this AM left at 8AM and when got back it was already 93. It topped out at 110 later today in Centreville, MD . Was passed by one other cyclist, stopped for a cool drink at a country lunch stop where there was one other cyclist. Way too HOT!!!

Got out for one short 20 mile ride this week with my daughter's gymnastics coach. I spent the rest of the week running whitewater and trying to stay cool during this heatwave.

Had a really satisfying ride this evening, left at 1745, weather was super, it had cooled from 96*F down to 90*F and was nice while riding. Hope tomorrow is as good a day as today.

42 miles this morning on a club ride. Finished before the temp hit a record 105F. Golly it was hot! Happy that there were no climbs requiring use of the small ring today.
Club picnic in a park shelter afterwards.

Did a 63-mile route in MoCo Maryland that I first did last December. What a difference six months and 60 degrees makes

Didn't get out until 5:30, rode 21 miles around Toluca Lake, Burbank, North Hollywood and Van Nuys, and was home by 8:30. But before I left I sewed my cycling tunic and tights.

Did a short ride yesterday in the 105 heat here in Kentucky, may have been just below that at around 2:00PM. It was like taking a ride through an army of hair dryers. Stopping at a red light for any amount of time was like being in hell. The sweat would just roll.

36 miles this morning with a stiff hot wind at times. This morning starting at 5:25AM before sunrise and it was already 83F with a heat index of 87 and ending the ride with it 84 with a heat index of 89F. Still managed to match my best avg. Did 36.22 miles in 2 hour 14 seconds.

72 miles in less than 4 hours. Perfect temperatures in the 70 to 80f range with a 10 to 15 mph NE wind. The route heads North and Northwest for the first half and South & Southeast on the return leg.

I hope the weather stays more seasonal. Today was a great day.

Rode the Dog Days of Dallas, an organized metric Century. Rode with various folks off and on until I dropped a chain less than 10 miles from the finish. Averaged right around 20 mph--kept dumping water all over me while riding and enjoyed the evaporative cooling experience on a rather warm humid day. On any hill where our speed dropped off to 10 mph or less the lack of breeze was oppressive. I grew up in the Carolinas and love the heat...but just for playing golf. I'd rather ride my bike in 30 degree weather than 90+ degree weather.

Did a very nice 40 mile ride out of the Crank-2 bike shop in Pleasanton, CA. This ride was part of a demo day for Volagi, so about 20 folks were on Volagi's supplied by Crank-2 or the Volagi folks who came down from Cotati, CA. 2260 very modest feet of climbing, but I was pleased to average about 16.5 mph. Got to chat with some very nice folks along the way.

Rode late today, after a t'storm threat passed, dropped temps about 15*F. Nice even paced ride, very good to be out and about.

Stoker talked me into a tandem ride this morning. Ten easy miles close to home and it was hot but not nearly gawdawful hot like it has been recently. This evening the temp is actually Comfortable, which we haven't experienced for a while.

Put in 22 miles this evening. Very muggy with not a lot of wind. The flat fairy struck so I got to replace a tube by the side of the road. Fortunately everything worked as planned and I was soon on my way again.

55 miles, temperature in the high 80's probably over 90 in some places. Not too humid, but when we stopped it was like being in an oven. Did a few uphill sprints racing against my friend. It's a lot of fun going fast, but the last few miles were pretty sloooow.

Just riding around yesterday I decided to do some hill repeats on what I affectionately call Riverside Hill for some reason (actually on Old Alabama Rd). It's not that bad on paper but can be trying and I've only seen a few people going up. Anyhow I saw a line of four or five climbing as I coasted down, and I thought "must be a club ride" and went on to warm up. But when I came back around for repeats there was still a trickle of them.

So I caught up to one and he said it was an organized century and they'd done 98 miles already! He'd had enough and got off to walk so I went on up to talk to the next one, which I guess is a little insensitive of me. Being fresh, and engaging someone in conversation on 10-15 grade after a hot humid century but I was impressed and a bit jealous that I missed the opportunity. Anyway my hat's off to these guys!

Reduced work due to Summer Break. This week it left me with 5 off-days. Not conducive to survival income wise. But I got out and rode all five days. About 14 miles each trip, last one interrupted by a flat 6 miles in. I walked back the six miles. But to ride daily is now an easily do-able thing.
And during the Summer, the car is going to need to be parked and I ride nearly everywhere.

A great 25 mile ride on my last day in Illinois. The temps were in the upper 60's at 6:00AM and remained in the low to mid 70's for the entire ride. Barely broke a sweat. I wanted to do more, but also wanted to make coffee club one more time.
