7.5 miles this afternoon in the afternoon heat (100F). 37mph down the single semi-hill in the area felt a little cooler.

Waited out the daily pop up thunderstorm and was rewarded with 78*F temps for a great ride. Thoroughly enjoyed bicycling today.

Scene at the yellow lot at the start of the ride:

I really needed this advice:

Doesn't show up well, but the temp is 105.3. It actually get up to 107 at the highest.
One of the slowest average speeds in the last four years. I have not mastered the art of stop and go traffic on a SWB bent.

Another humid 31 mile ride this morning. Just a great ride at the MUP.

Rode between thunderstorms this afternoon, mild temps but humid. Ride was fast, took advantage of the North tailwind to pick up time on the outbound leg then held things up for the South bound return leg, with a tailwind.

38 miles this morning. Started around 5:20 AM and it was already 81ºF with a heat index of 89ºF--ride ended with the temperature at 83º and heat index of 91º. Sure glad I started before dawn. Today it's supposed to get to 98º and a heat index near 110ºF.
P.S. This week is the first week I have done all 6 days at 38 miles every day(228 miles for the week). When I started doing longer daily rides(used to do 6 days at 23 miles each), I did 38 miles each for 5 of the days and 26 or 28 miles for the additional day for 6 days riding.

Tornado alert was issued at 6PM last night and then the winds and rain hit soon thereafter. So got out a little later this morning under very threatening sky's and the MUP was a mess was limbs and twigs all over. When the sky got black and 12 miles from home I cut my ride short but still got in 27 miles.

Took it easy today and did a 25 mile recovery ride. It started off with riding with the wife and getting her back into doing intervals and some spinning. About 8-9 miles into the ride, I started doing some intervals and spinning on my own but still kept the average resting speed around 14 mph. My legs needed a rest after the last two days of doing haul-butt rides.

Did an out and back from my house on Thursday: 19 miles, 1700' of climbing. I didn't have enough time to do the whole climb which would have resulted in 2600', but I was pleased that I could do the climb without having to stand. When the pitch gets above 12% I generally have to alternate sitting/standing with my 34-32 gearing.

Did a 32 mile ride at dawn in the cool of the morning. Calm winds just added to the fun. Haven't been on the bike since Monday due to the triple digit temperatures in the afternoon.

Simple 15 minute ride to test "Alfredo" before taking a long ride tomorrow.
Alfredo has not seen many miles this year. Today I installed 700x38 Vittoria Randonneur Hypers and a 12-30 cassette. I also installed a Revelate Design Tangle frame bag.

A nice 30 mile ride this morning at a very crowded MUP. Gates open at 7:00 AM, we got there at 7:04 AM and the parking lot was almost full. There must be some kind of marathon coming up because there sure was a more-than-usual amount of runners there this morning.

26 mile group ride plus 14 miles commuting to and from the start/finish of the ride for a total of just over 40 miles. Temperatures still in the high 80s by the time I got back to the house.

40 miles this morning with a friend (who's also my pastor). A bit of W/SW wind for the first half of the ride, but nothing extreme. Still, I was glad to turn the corner on it.
Temps ranged from 75F at 6:30 am to almost 90 by the time I got home.
Here it is on SportsTrack Live: https://www.sportstracklive.com/track...ng/707239/full. Never mind the alledged 26 MPH max... I was doing more like 17 at that point, with a final moving average of about 15.3.
It's nice to be making measurable progress over the past two years since I've gotten back into cycling, even if my already-moderate speed dropped a bit near the end.

47 miles on this thursday past. From Verona to Monroe on a nice route on which I was passed by about a dozen cars. Unfortunate that the heat and humidity peaked just as I got to the hills in the final 15 miles. Whew! Followed up with a 22 mile slow(!) ride today with no hills of which to speak.

My sweetie and I did about 40 miles on the tandem today. After our 1-night tour last weekend the bike felt like a feather. Got back to the car about 15 minutes before the rain/t-storm hit. It's raining hard now. I finished up re-building a '72 Bertin last night and was going to take it for a short spin. Ain't going to happen today... Boom! splat! pitter patter pitter hissssssss
