I am doing a 65 mile event ride tomorrow so I limited myself to an 18 mile warm up ride this afternoon. Moderate temperatures and moderate (for Kansas) winds.

Worked from home today so I didn't ride to work or ride at all. Yesterday I worked at work and rode to work. And home again. The usual 20.

It was much easier to do it, than to watch it.

Went on my leisurely, Saturday club ride this morning and ended up riding sweep. Slowest rider was doing 8-10 mph for the 19 mile ride. Broke off at the middle of the ride with some people that wanted to do the return trip at a faster pace and managed a 19-22 mph return, except for the last mile through the residential area.

First day riding in TX hill country vs coastal flat land. Managed to get up all hills WO stopping and made up for slow uphill with fast down to average over 13 for the 19 mile ride. New bike and chipseal had me on brakes during steepest downhills, still topped out at 30mph. Need more miles and more confidence in bike before I try much faster. May go for forty mi tomorrow.

I put in 67.5 miles this morning on a charity event ride. Very cool temps and light drizzle most of the way. For more info check out the Pie Ride thread.

46 miles with my son who is half my age, almost 52 vs. 26. Will actually be 52 on Tuesday 9-18.

Used Sport Legs on ride and this supplement really seemed to help.

Will be taking my birthday ride a day early on Monday. We are taking the Johnstown-Newark Ohio Trail round trip. May go as far out as Frazeysburg. Could turn into a century ride.

Have been on vacation on Mt. Desert Island, Maine. Have biked Acadia Nat'l Park's Park Loop Road several times, about 18.9 miles, 1200 ft of climbing per lap. Lemme think, twice on the tandem, two laps each time. Then once on the Masi followed by a run up Cadillac Mountain.

Some pics...

Yes, rode today.
Irritating that other riders I see don't wave or nod or anything. What's up with that?

Yesterday: 40 flat miles on a club ride. Slightly cool at the start - OMG Fall is approaching! Averaged 17mph --> Faster than my norm.

Today: 45 sometimes-hilly miles on the Screamer with my stoker. Rode to Brooklyn Indiana, and back again on a club ride.

38 miles done in 2:11. Perfect weather again: in the 65 to 80f range, clear and dry air with a slight headwind on the return trip.

22 ish miles on Sky Ride again today.

Mix of road and rocky trails as well as riverbank.

Very pleasant ride with some slopes but not very strenuous.

And the heavy rain which was forecast held off til later in the day.

Someone was looking after us today

Only 4.55 miles, doing a "food run", with my faithful utility set up, "back in black" and "the family truckster", still hauling a weeks worth of food and misc. items up a few hills to home from the store should count for something!!

18 mile recovery ride this afternoon after yesterday's 67 mile event ride. Unlike yesterday there was no drizzle or overcast to be seen.

I got out and did a long ride....46.9km.....in ride time of 3:10. I stopped on the way home to view a chalk art exhibition downtown. Great works of art.
The sun was out but it wasn't too hot but riding the waterfront makes it comfortable for cycling. I got up King George Terrace. Guess I have finally conquered it.....now to find a new hill to tackle.
