I rode to my Weight Watchers meeting and then home. The weather is gorgeous here and every ride is a pleasure. It's Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada so it's nice to have some great fall weather to get out in.

Had a quick ride to a knitting lesson this morning. Another gorgeous day. The sun is shining and it's warm in the afternoons but chilly in the mornings.

33 miles of Gravel along the Des Plaines River in 2 hours. Cool October weather, any cooler and I'll need cold weather gear.

Yesterday: 11 miles on the Screamer. Progress: We are able to consistently ride up our local hill at 6mph instead of last year's 3-4mph.
Then later rode to LBS (7 miles) to see if they possibly had a RD cable long enough for my long wheelbase 'bent that was in the middle of getting a new RD. Nope, no tandem or 'bent-length cables. Had to sacrifice the very, very long cable in reserve for the Screamer. Job done: New RD, cable and housings cleaned up/replaced as appropriate.
Today: 35 mile club ride in flat southeastern rural Indy.
Noted a very-well-maintained barn in Hancock County:

And, not far away, an empty fixer-upper farmhouse:

47 miles on a 45 mile club ride today, west of the metro. Coolish (50s) sunny day, but unexpectedly the ride out west was into a serious headwind - sustained 15 MPH gusting to 25 MPH. I got dropped from the fast group and together with a friend we fought our way to the rest stop. It was demoralizing feeling so tired at the halfway point. The ride back east was easier, of course, but I felt my legs' limitations on every hill.
I've put in about 1600 miles since mid-July, following 6 months on the injured reserve. But I'm still a shadow of what I was last year. Some days I'm just glad to be riding, and some days I'm frustrated. I'd like to go out on a mid-distance ride and be able to ride hard and also feel good. But feeling blown out when I haven't even ridden that hard or far takes away a lot of the fun of the ride. I tell myself that I just need to stay healthy and keep riding and the fitness will be back by sometime next year....
Oh, the extra two miles happened when we missed a turn and got off-route.

Guardsman Pass down to Midway/Heber Valley. Temps are dropping from 10k feet down at 30 mph or so. Snow is creepin' around the corner.

33 miles on a windy, no sweat day. Stopped for coke and no money - OPPS left ID and money at home. Finished ride and money, ID/TX DL not at home. Retrace ride in truck looking, no see em. Check online how to report lost and get replacement. OH S---. 9-11 strikes again. Must prove I am me again. No more dl on rides for me.

Aliso Viejo, Southern California. Mountain biking. Mathis is a fire road all the way down so I'm looking for a better way down with some single track. It was my first time there.

25 miles on saturday and 13 yesterday. With temps in the 30's I wore cold weather clothing-tights, long sleeve shirt, wool sweater, vest and windbreaker.

Rode the Bicycling magazine Fall Classic yesterday, 91 miles with 6800' of climbing. Brutal course, very challenging. Also very beautiful riding the Lehigh Valley in PA. A fantastic ride, I would recommend this to anyone. Definitely on the list for next year! Attached is my Strava link to the ride.

A few shot of the Pagoda rest area overlooking Reading PA. Tough climb up to this vantage point, steepest I've ever rode!

It's Thanksgiving Day and thought I'd better burn off some calories for the turkey tonight. I did 20km along the waterfront. It's another gorgeous fall day. I don't think we've had rain since sometime in August.

I got in 55 miles today. Temps in the mid-70s but windy. Decided to try a hilly section hat has a long gradual uphill about 6-7 miles, then a steep 1/2 mile or so. While I made it, I can't say I broke any speed records and the legs were really screaming. I'll be the first to admit I don't do well on hills, but I keep trying!!!

25 miles in VERY windy conditions but lot's of sunshine, the leaves were raining off the trees on to me as I passed!
One really neat thing, I passed a elem. school and the "bike rack" was "filled" to capacity, haven't seen that in a looooong time!

17 miles this evening on a the local bike paths. Almost cold and very blustery. I was a bit surprised by the number of other cyclists out getting in some late season miles. The more the merrier!
