Did a two climb ride in my home town. Second climb is shorter, but with absolutely no relief. Weather was excellent, low 60's at the finish. Don't think my borrowed saddle is going to do the trick: pain sets in somewhere between 3 and 4 hours. I took some pics, but mostly valley vistas and brown hills (with a few cows). I did see 9 wild turkeys and maybe 10 deer. The downhill speeds are pretty modest as these ranch roads are in terrible condition, particularly Lone Tree, the first hill.

24 rural miles this afternoon. After several days of carbo-loading I was in no danger of running out of fuel. With 58F temps and moderate winds it was a very pleasant ride.

My sweetie and I got home last night from visiting my family so today she wanted to take the tandem out regardless of the temperature. 28.9 miles, windy and cold (never hit 40degF). Nice miles though.

Another ten mile ride today. Compared to yesterdays 32F, mid-40's felt great today.

23 miles with the wife, tried some new routes that got new "bike lanes" installed lately, sunny but the wind was chilly!

First ride on my newly set up "Cross" bike. It's not really a cross bike - it's a steel touring bike (2009 KHS Flite 220) set up with 32 mm Nokian studded tires and fenders. I did 25 miles and was amazed at how slow the bike felt compared to the road bikes I've been riding. It's partly the switch from 23 mm tires on light wheels to heavy knobby tires, but it also might be that my geometry on the KHS is all wrong- I think I have some seat adjustments to do.
The roads here are mostly clear, but there were some patches of ice on which I appreciated the studded tires. But mostly I wanted to take the bike out and see how it felt to ride, as I had finished setting it up earlier in the day.
But anyway, it was a joy to be out riding after 3 days off for the Tgiving holiday. 3 days may not seem long, but its enough so my legs start getting that achy feeling that I associate (probably mistakenly) with loss of fitness.

Hoping to get a ride in today if the knee feels OK. No ride yesterday, even though it was great riding weather (high 60's and low 70's). Weatherman said it should be in the mid-high 70's today. I hope the knee doesn't act up during my ride.
Edit: I got in a low resistance, high cadence, 10 mile ride on the trainer this morning. Knee did great and felt good after the ride. I'll do it again tomorrow.

I'm up around 04:00 and out the door between 04:30 and 05:00. In this case, I started actually riding around 04:40. The distance I do depends on my schedule. If I have to be off by 07:45, I only do about 35 miles so I have the time for showering, eating a quick bite and getting dressed--if I need to be gone by 07:15 I only do about 25 miles. Today I don't have a schedule so I could do 42 miles. Actually, had it been warmer, I would've done 50 or even a full metric, but toes and hands were limiting the ride.

I like riding early and in the dark, less traffic, the only thing I worry about is precip on the road freezing when it's that cold and I can't see it in time.

I did ride today; in hindsight, perhaps I shouldn't have.
Halfway through my early morning 20 mile loop, just as I notice "Hey, wow, they got a lot more snow here than they did in my neighborhood" I hit a patch of black ice and the bike went down instantly.
Knee & elbow are pretty gashed up.
Definitely broke my finger.
Might have broken my hand.
Plus I ruined my favorite pair of winter tights!
This sucks.

Sorry to hear that Bob. I hate it when that happens. That's why I ride my trike in the winter months. Hope you heal soon.

Sorry to gear you augured in Bob, the injuries sound painful, at best. Hope everything heals fast. Most importantly
, how is the bike
? Now would be the time for some egg nog to ease the pain.

Been getting out for short but effective rides this week. Today I did my first set of intervals in forever. Just one quick set of five 2 min intervals with equal rest on a climb. Each subsequent interval produced more power and higher cadence. I was happy with that and felt good afterwards. Maybe I can ride a bike.

Could only fit in 25 miles this am because of time. Also, my legs just didn't seem to have the umpf in them this am either.
