Bike errand run, 14 miles total, mostly cloudy and cold, 25F, had to dodge a lot of "snow/ice islands", on many of the back streets I travel, didn't melt as quick as usual.

Finished my 200 for the week. Did 201. That's at least 50 more for a week than ever before. Did 41 today (yesterday now). Burned 7500 calories according to my HRM and still gained weight. Those Christmas cookies sure are good!

I did 32 miles last night with our scrawny Critical Mass group.
http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...46313746_n.jpg I rode exactly 37 miles today with fellow BFers nkfrench (middle) and Yo Spiff (right) and am sitting at 4000 miles for the year. http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...85935529_n.jpg Looking back at previous years, I guess the 4000 is my highest yearly total ever, almost 1000 miles more than last year (which was admittedly a disappointing year). |
About 18 miles or so today with Sky Ride Local on an Off Road Ride Well.
Set off along the River Mersey on a very wet, slippery river bank full of puddles and lots of very wet mud. Then on the Trans Pennine Trail also equally muddy and also on some roads as well. A very welcome pub break halfway round and then another wet muddy trail up to the Fallowfield Loop which being tarmac and concrete style surface was mostly mud free with only odd patches. Near the end back by the river was a lovely very deep puddle which was high enough to soak my feet when i rode through it. Would have made a cracking picture if anyone had thought to take one! |
Got in 32 miles this morning and cut off in time for the Giants game. Left the house it was 55 degrees in South Florida. Glad I brought my arm warmers down from NY with me.

Did 41 miles with the wind kicking my butt most of the way. Started the ride with 10 mph winds and 15 mph gusts and ended the ride in 23 mph sustained and 35 mph gusts. Wind direction was almost always headwind or oblique side/headwind. I felt like giving up at the 21 mile mark but pushed on and did the 41 miles.

Today was my last ride of the year unless they deliver the refrigerator early tomorrow. Ten riders started off at a nice and cool 41º, that quickly got into the 60's as the sun came up. We ended up with a great 33 mile ride and then an IHop brunch afterward.

20 miles in the Oakland hills

Don't know how far we went but we were out for 3 hours at Bretton Woods, NH. The temperature dropped form 12degF to 5degF during the run.

26 miles to finish out the year. I knew that my fingers would get really cold and my toes as well since it was 27ºF this AM so I only did 26 miles instead of 33 or 40. But, I did several hill repeats after about 20 miles.

Over the week.

Rode to work today. Despite temps in the high 20s with a ~12mph headwind, there was no way I wasn't going to ride today: I somehow, miraculously, inexplicably wound up only seven miles shy of the annual mileage goal that way back in June I was absoutely certain I would never get anywhere near, and that as recently as November 1st I had resigned myself to coming up a couple hundred miles short of.
So somewhere along this morning's 11 mile commute I hit my yearend mileage goal...I might just drag the bike home on the subway tonight, no need to keep riding! j/k :) |
Rode 14 miles in an easy pace. This is my first time to break the 10 mile barrier :thumb: Temperature was around 30 degrees with some wind.

27f and overcast with light winds. Some ice on the MUP, but the roads were clear. 20.5 miles in 1:18.
Happy new Year. |
The sun came out this afternoon and it warmed up to 61*F here. The morning was cold for NW Florida, 43*F at 1130, but I was determined to ride on the final day of 2012 since it was a break out year for me. A little over 1000 miles for the year was unthinkable this time last year.

Did a 10 mile ride this afternoon. Thought the roads were fairly well plowed from all the snow weve had lately. Turns out the back roads were clear in the lane but soft melting snow on the shoulder. Had to ride both in and out and it was dicey at times. The Nokian studded did a fine job and the sunshine was great. Had just installed my new RideOut saddle and am very impressed with the comfort level. A longer ride planned for tommorrow.

I thought I was going to get one last ride in for the year, but no such luck. The delivery crew was running late and didn't get the fridge delivered until early afternoon. By the time I went to my daughter's house and brought the food home, it was too late to get in a decent ride. Ended the year with 5,220 miles. Happy New Years to everyone on BF and may this coming year bring you many miles of safe and enjoyable riding.

Beautiful weather, nice temperature and very, very interesting road conditions. Great ride.

Very pretty, but I'm almost afraid to ask what a "nice temperature" is... :)
|
Nice pic. Unfortunately my plans for a ride today where rained out.
|
A nice temperature is today just around freezing, hands and feet are still feeling OK after a couple of hours.
|
Took a nice 3 hour ride today, sunshine, very windy, 8degF wind chills but it was awesome out. Snow drifting across the roadways was the only obstacle that slowed me down. Generally keeping the speed down to 10mph now anyway for the remainder of the winter.
