Thanks to early morning rains and hayfever meds, I was able to get in 32 miles this afternoon. 68° with SW wind 8 MPH. I got to try out a freshly paved section of rural road that I had not been able to ride on for more than a year.

Got out this afternoon for a short 20 mile ride. It felt different than the long 20 mile rides I've been doing. I guess I might finally be getting over this nasty virus I've been harboring the past six weeks. I took over 3 min off the last time I rode this loop so I guess my perception matched my performance. I still have so far to go but it felt good to be able to ride 20 miles and not suffer for it.

Hew weee that felt good on this very nice day

I didn't do my self imposed 80 yet. That's almost twice my usual weekend ride but I'm creeping up to it slowly. I'm being passed by the ladies on roadbikes but at least my karma in the form of a smart a***d kid wasn't circling me on his BMX this time.

I think I'm riding just a little too often so this week I'll do a 20 on Tuesday or so and shoot for that 80 next weekend. Before I stopped riding years ago I was doing an 80 or 90 on the weekends with nothing in between. Don't know if I can be ready for that June century or not but that's what I'm shootin' for. The September one might be a little too hilly for me just yet. If I wait for that one I think I'm gonna hafta replace that 13x24 freewheel on my century wheels with a 14x26 which I use on my touring wheels.

36 mile club ride from and back to Pendleton IN today. Sunny and upper 50's on a pretty flat ride. Spring is here! (Might snow on Monday.)

First 100+ mile of the year, later than usual for me. I did a nice piedmont ride from Warrenton to Remington, Brandy Station, Flint Hill, Marshall and back. 5600 ft of elevation gain (can't call it "climbing" since it was all in the form of rollers, some pretty steep):

https://connect.garmin.com/activity/290947473

I've got to do something about the saddle situation. I can't seem to go more than 60 or 70 miles before getting extremely sore. My butt issues were the limiting factor on this ride. My legs held up pretty well.

I found it hard to eat on the last third of the ride, though. Luckily I had a GU with me. I just couldn't get anything solid down without the thought of puking...

Oh, and Google Maps done me wrong again. Tried to send me down a road that was not only unpaved, but was in fact somebody's driveway (road marked "PVT Lane")... Got a bit of a late start since I was waiting for it to warm up, so the shadows were getting pretty long by the time I got back. I can't wait for summer when I can start the ride when it's nearly too dark to see

You're way ahead of me that's for sure. I might not get a century in until August or Sept. Looking at the elevation profile I am always amazed at how low the base gets not too far from the Shenandoah.

Beautiful day (Saturday, 30 March) about 60, sunny, no wind. All of 7.7 miles, but I have to stay within the parameters of what the cardiac therapy nurse ordered... it was tempting to go further/longer/faster... but I don't want to break anything at this point.

Have therapy all week, so next ride will probably be next Fri or Sat. hope 10 miles next time.

25 miles, 10 to 15 mph winds, light rain.
I tip my hat to all who are getting centuries in. Took me three days to do 75.
Legs are feeling stronger each time out.

41 miles on the Pedalmentalist Easter Service (club ride). Mostly flat but with a few rolling hills. And, headwinds on some of the ride!
After yesterday's ride, feeling pretty tired this evening. Not nearly enough winter miles to feel strong going into Spring. First club ride with my new HRM but it didn't help me go faster!

The weatherman keeps predicting rain and we keep getting nice days so I keep riding. Gotta get in the miles while the sun shines. 24 miles on rural roads. 66° N Wind 9 MPH

I have a metric century planned for the 20th of April so I have a little ways to go on the training front but not much.

Almost exactly the type of ride I did, under similar conditions, except I went to our town library to sign up for an AM seminar tomorrow.
Interesting how much easier it is to ride in to the wind when NOT wearing billowing layers of clothing (like I did all winter). For next winter I will definitely get tights and a snugger fitting outer jacket.

Best regards

Back from our Vegas vacation and back on the bike. 35.59 miles today with some very warm 82º weather. I started a new leukemia medication today so I had to keep an eye on everything as this new drug has potential cardiac side effects. So-far-so-good with the new med. It didn't effect my HR and I didn't get dizzy, two of the effects of this medication. It also causes cardiac arrhythmia's which I also kept a feel for. Sometimes, medications can do you more harm than good.

20 miles approx ride partly in the dark.

On the Outwood Trail near Radcliffe, Bury.

Started out in a park on smooth gravelled paths then onto rough trails and singletrack, also canal towpaths.

Started out in daylight but it got dar within an hour or so.

I havent ridden this trail before so it was interesting having to be aware of of every inch of the trail as it changed constantly esp on the canal path with the path having small slopes up and down every few yards and slabs ticking out into the path.

Also a patch of very slippery mud which we ended up walking through and steep slopes to struggle up.

All in all a great ride, would love to do it again.

Am immensley proud of my bike which held up really well esp in the rutted parts of the path where I thought it might have stopped on me, but it flew through them with only some grinding due to my front cog needing replacing.

Who needs a fancy bike ?

I missed the Tues Night Shop ride due to getting over a stomach bug my daughter shared with me. A friend on the ride crashed hard on a descent when his front tire had a blowout. He was flown to Asheville with multiple broken bones and a head injury. I hope he recovers quickly, but at 60+ in age I'm not sure it will be as fast as he would like. He's a very good rider, but there's not much one can do when that front tire goes suddenly.

Another hot, humid and windy 36 mile ride today. Still having the knee issues and was really tired after the ride. Had a really good first lap but the second lap just wore me out.
