36 miles at the MUP today. After the rainstorm we had Thurs. night (4" in less than an hour) I figured the MUP would be flooded at the normal spots. Boy was it ever! I have seen the gully flooded worse than what it was today, but I have never seen the creek flooded as bad as it is now. Even the footbridge was half underwater and that has never happened in the three years I've been riding there. And our rainy season lasts until November.

30 miles almost flat. Deliberately kept my HR below 100 bpm in prep. for tomorrows longer ride. I'm shocked that I was able to resist the urge to go harder.

5+ mile ride around Altrincham and Dunham areas.
Met my partner at a once popular but now very sadly closed pub and went to a quarry he wanted to pick up some rock specimens he left there then rode towards Dunham Massey Park.
On the way discovered a newly opened Tea Room which is like a Cafe which didnt look too expensive so we decided to stop and have a drink (coffee and diet coke ).
Very nice and also had some cake and chatted with the girls running it.
Really hope it does well as it will provide some competition to the Park which is run by the National Trust and very expensive.
Decided to walk through the Park which I had to do as only kids up to 5 are allowed to cycle there but I could push my bike through.
Had to negotiate to stiles which are steps either side of a flat platform which I had to push my bike up then down, designed to allow people to climb over but to prevent vehicles gaining access.
It is a much quicker route than taking the road which is a mile away but takes ages.
Headed into Dunham Town then my partner decided to walk back a longer route instead of going striaght back to Altrincham to catch a tram home.
We ended up at Red House Farm which has a Maize Maze and kids playgrounds, also a farm shop and restaurant and is very popular if very pricey
Still bought some shortbread and coke tho
Headed back to Altrincham where my partner did give into getting the tram home and I rode back.
Lovely cool day.

Does this accurately show the speed I was flying down Reddy's Lane

What's with the hammerin'?
Today was about as perfect one can hope for in August, so I went on a ride. I saw cyclists of all stripes: stony faced team kit roadies, MAMILs, OMILs, even a Duck Dynasty type (who was going way faster than I was). Every single one of them was hammering away with barely concealed anguish on their faces.
Whats up with that? Don't people just go for spins these days?
The Ford Ironman is going on even as I sit here. Maybe people wanted to join in the suffering, albeit a bit vicariously.
I averaged 27 MPH and I'm a bit depressed my legs are a little sore, but that's for another post.

I was hoping that news of the MUP being flooded would keep people away today but that never happened. 35 miles this morning for a nice hot and humid Florida ride.

12 miles on the beach.....racing high tide and lost. Softer sand and headwinds was one heck of a workout.

14 miles, to a sale at the LBS. I bought cone wrenches. Had a great time. Put a longer stem on the Schwinn Passage.

23 miles mostly on the semi-rural roads in a neighboring township - on the way back stopped in the local city park (Southwestway) to visit the facilities and found a large bunch of folks enjoying a MTB race. I knew there was a bike/hike trail there but wasn't aware of racing. Everyone involved, whether racer or spectator, seemed to be having a good time. Mine was the only recumbent on the premises - my BB7 brakes felt right at home.

14 miles on the beach. I got an early enough start an avoided high tide. Good headwind for 7 miles.

Did 46 miles on Sunday with about 2000' of each climbing. Great riding weather, but I must say I was dog-tired. I've got a short business trip which will give me a chance to rest my legs.

Spent the entire day with the wife, yesterday, so no miles. I did get in a very nice 44 mile ride this morning with some really nice weather; except for the crazy winds. Seemed as if the wind would hit you in every direction except from the rear.

Today was an almost perfect day for a summer ride. Got in a very nice 35 mile ride with not much humidity and wind. And to top it off, the flooding is all but gone across the path at the MUP.

21 miles as a Bike Commuter today. Hottest spell of our Summer the last few days and our heat pump was out of whack Sunday PM through midday today. Got home from work to glorious cool air!
