30 miles in the atypically cool morning air with a friend today. New route for me, with some small Louisiana rollers.

I was actually a bit cold for a minute when we started again after a brief break. While the sweat evaporated it was like standing in the door of a refridgerator. Nice!!

Did a short 15 miles at 15.3 avg this morning in the fog.

Stopalot 09-14-13 01:50 PM

My wife's 57th birthday so we road her age plus 2. Great ride.

John_V 09-14-13 02:26 PM

Nice but very hot 44 miles today at a very crowded MUP. Lots of runners there today training for the upcoming marathon being held in a couple of weeks.

Doohickie 09-14-13 02:26 PM

Yes. I rode my age (50) for the first time this year. And I did it on my fixed gear bike, the first time I've ever ridden it for 50 miles (I think).

OldTryGuy 09-14-13 04:10 PM

83 hot/humid miles. 39 of which were with younger crit/rr guys who whooped my butt.

David Bierbaum 09-14-13 04:49 PM

I went out the door to just toodle around the neighborhood with my bike, and before I knew it I was 15 miles out, and did 15 miles back. A few of the trees on the bluffs of the Mississippi are beginning to show signs of turning colors. It was just about a perfect day to just be outside, breathing the air and seeing the sights.

My fitness levels must be going up, because last time I went out to piasa creek, it took 3 hours there and back, and I was rubber-legged when I got back. This time, it took 2 hours and 15 minutes, and I'm not feeling wiped out at all either. Yay me. ;)

6 miles indoors and 15 outdoors, 21 total. Took my GT touring in a little woods. Some double track, some single track, a very short trail

Winds SW 7

Yes, I did! 22 miles in the morning on the stationary trainer--no big deal. 15 miles on a real bike in the great outdoors with my beautiful bride, two months to the day after shattering my hip--that credit card cliché comes to mind. Regretting the flip comment from a few days ago on trading upright riding for a lifetime of smelling ripe cow pastures--not a bit. One nice thing of being a part of the 50+ is we remember so little from one day to the next, and, if there are no pictures, it didn't happen.

Did A early morning 23 mile ride today, 15mph avg.cool+crisp at the Jersey Shore!

DX-MAN 09-14-13 06:39 PM

About 10-11 SSLLLOOOOWWWWW miles with my nephew this afternoon. He wanted a quick bite at Wendy's, then we rode downtown to the USPS to drop a couple letters in the box (had to buy stamps). The ONLY time I exerted myself was during a block-long "rough section" of near-destroyed sidewalk that we like to ride when we go that way. It's almost like a "rock garden" in a MTB race. Other than that, it was less energy exerted than when walking....

Miami Biker 09-14-13 09:37 PM

Did 54 miles on Friday and 54 two days before. Last one done at 16.1 speed-- fastest yet by a lot. Of course never pass anyone on a road bike and given age, weight and replaced knee, my record should hold!

Bikey Mikey 09-15-13 04:07 AM

Started at 0440 this AM to do a 35 or 40 mile ride. I only did 15. This the first time Sciatica interfered with my cycling. I may occasionally feel discomfort in my ankle, but around the 11 mile mark, I had pain shooting through my buttocks, the hamstring, above and through the ankle, and radiating to the foot/toes. I tried pushing on but it was too much. I made a detour and went home. I just hope this is a one time occurrence before I get the epidural in 1½ weeks.

106 miles in central Maryland just west of Baltimore. The Garmin track shows 100 because the battery died. It seems to waste the battery quicker if you spend your time on the map page versus the stats page:

It's amazing how different 8000 feet of climbing feels when it's concentrated into two or three major "climbs" versus a ride like this where it's just non-stop rollers all day long. I think this is harder.

John_V 09-15-13 12:42 PM

A very hot and humid 41 miles with my riding buddy this morning. Once again, the MUP was packed with runners training for their marathon, so it was hard to get any good speed during the ride. We averaged 12.6 mph, but it gave us time to have a good conversation for a few hours. And since we are both second generation Italians, we have plenty in common to talk about.

Nice going on your 50 mile ride. With all those cards on your spokes, your bike should have sounded like a Harley. :D Where did you attach all the clothespins?

JanMM 09-15-13 01:27 PM

Yesterday: 13 solo miles local and casual.
Today: 46 moderately hilly club ride miles on the tandem.

Gravity Aided 09-15-13 02:13 PM

12 miles today, indoors, due to rain.

Weeks round-up. I was on vacation with the bike along for the ride. I did bring my wife as an after thought. :)

Saturday, Annapolis, MD - 19 miles
Monday, Annapolis, graciously invited on a group ride by Parvilla Cycle & Sport. 31 miles. Tough but fun ride. More elevations changes than I believe I have ever had. Very nice group of riders.
Wednesday, Rehobeth Beach, MD Awesome beach town. Flat as a pancake. ZERO elevation gain according to Strava. 26 miles. Was very cool riding on the board walk and down the coast road.
Friday, Lancaster PA. Elevation gain surpassed Annapolis ride. Gorgeous ride in the Amish countryside and urban Lancaster.
Sunday, back home for 26 miles.

TakingMyTime 09-15-13 04:57 PM

The wife and I did 19 miles. Headed down to the beach for coffee. Early morning and still a lot of fog but not bad.

Not expecting a madhouse on my morning ride but that was certainly the case by the Navy Yard this morning.

Much better today than yesterday(see above). I still have Sciatica, but I was able to do 36 miles. I was seriously considering 40 or 45 miles, but at the 30 mile mark, the sky was getting really gloomy, the wind was picking up, and I swear I could smell rain coming--thus, only did 36 miles.
