Did a C group ride yesterday (as in, A-D grades) and today did a C* group ride. Today's ride was a lot tougher. I had to do a few top-gear sprints to keep up. Still, I got the satisfaction of keeping up with all road bikes.

Yesterday's ride, 40 hilly miles along Okanagan Lake from Kelowna to Penticton. Love those September days that still seem like summer. Not many left I'm afraid.

Got in a nice 48 miles this morning. Wife came with me but only ended up doing 15 miles and then she took the van home. I got my usual 44 miles in and then did a little extra while waiting for her to come pick me up.

Rode to meet my partner from work today and spent some time in the Library before I headed to my Course Venue for a maths exam.

Cam out and rode out of the building before noticing my front tyre was going flat rapidly and air was hissing out of my tyre.

Stopped and took the tube out but couldnt see the puncture so took the whole tube out of the wheel and tyreand tried to pump it up again to see if I could hear it hissing out.

But my pump wouldnt work, for some reason it has stopped attaching to the valve securely and wont pump air so I couldnt fix my flat and ended up spending an hour and a half walking my lame bike home.

The ride usually takes 20 mins or so but the walk was far longer.

When I got home I checked the tyre but couldnt find any cause of the flat and replaced my tube but am not too sure I fitted it right so will check it again tomorrow.

This is my second flat this week and I spent £10 on a new tube the first time but dont have that now.

Very nice weather today for my 22 mile bike commute. Just a bit cool this morning and pleasantly warm this afternoon.

I've been riding the last couple days on my mtb up Wayah Bald while the kid is in gymnastics. It's been perfect weather with temps in the 50s-60s at 4100-5300ft. Today I rustled up a bear that ran down the road in front of my bike, stopped and looked back before running around a corner. As I rode around that same corner the bear was 40ft up the bank pacing back and forth while grunting at me. It wasn't happy, and I wasn't either. I rode on and that ending the interaction.

Didn't think I was going to get a ride in today but managed a very windy 30 miles this morning. Crosswind gusts almost knocked me off the bike twice.

I had a great 66 mile ride today with 4,800 feet of elevation gain. I like to experiment, so I did this ride eating only one Quest bar, total digestible carbohydrates: 5 grams. No lunch. Normally I would have eaten 2-3 Quest bars.

I felt fine. Tired, but no more than normal. My average speed was slightly higher than the last time I did that same ride.

Conclusion: I don't need to eat as much as I thought, and (I knew this already) I don't need carbs.

I took this picture because a woman is ALWAYS sitting here in this car drinking coffee when I ride this route.

Once she was even there when I came back four hours later.

It wasn't as good, was it? My usual route has me going up the hills in the steep direction and down in the less step direction. If I did it in the reverse, I'd be climbing forever, then just sitting on the brakes going down.

I rode my first Century today. I didn't plan on it and actually took a rather hilly route north. I even tried Snake Hill Road and made it up this time. I was just feeling good and kept heading East until I realized that I still had to get home.

That's two things I can cross off my list.
