I rode my first Century today. I didn't plan on it and actually took a rather hilly route north. I even tried Snake Hill Road and made it up this time. I was just feeling good and kept heading East until I realized that I still had to get home.
That's two things I can cross off my list.

(Well done!)

Hey... only been riding for less than 2 years.
Hills that were hard are now routine. I'm constantly looking for new goals, extending my distance and increasing my speed.

I've done segments of this ride before but not at one time.
I started out thinking I would head north do some hills and head home doing 25-30 miles. But the weather was nice and I felt good. A number of times I reached a intersection where I could of headed home or continued further east. Eventually I realized that I still had to ride home and there was only so many hours of daylight left. As I got close to home I realized that I was a few miles short of 62, so road some local streets to hit the number.
I see plenty of 50+ guys that have no problem doing 50+ miles with a lot of climbing and wonder if i'll ever get to that level. I assume they have been riding for years and don't have "day" jobs so they have the time

Jeebuz I'm a horrible mountain bike rider. I did 13 miles, about half of it on a fairly tame single-track trail, and nearly killed myself about 5 times. I'm not sure I'm cut out for this stuff.

Did 80 mi, 3500' elev in Harriman Park on a beautiful day to be outdoors. My time was 6:10 hrs which I'm very pleased with. I've been working on my speed for the last two weeks and today I pulled out all the stops, stripping my bike down to just 31 lbs for the ride.

Did a 50K charity ride for the Miles for Hope Run/Ride event along the Gulf Beaches today. It was just perfect weather for a bike ride along the beach. Nice Gulf breeze the whole time made it to where most people didn't even break out a sweat. We do another charity ride in Feb. that uses much of the same route as this one does. Looking forward to that one too.

Did a 'C' group ride today. Good turnout with lots of hybrid type bikes. The pace was real easy and all flat, besides.

Got a late start on my ride this morning waiting for the rain to stop. Then I waited on the interstate for 40 minutes for a medivac from a single vehicle crash. Finally got my very muggy 47 mile ride in before the rain returned.

Did a C* group ride, wich is one step over a plain C ride, with speeds 12-14 mph. I think I like this pace a lot at this time.
