Got in a slow, 10 mile, afternoon bike ride in the neighborhood. Last minute Xmas to-do things kept me from doing my normal ride this morning.

30 miles tonight with some groups with an average of 20 mph. Above average temps here in the Piedmont Carolinas.

Solid ice with 3" deep footprints. Some snow. Incredibly bumpy and hard effort. 20 miles 4.5 hours. 1st 2nd and 3rd gear. Good workout, that's what I wanted.

Haven't ridden in 14 days because Mother Nature brought us an Early Winter in Late Fall. [sigh....]

Decided to sleep in late so I did my ride after lunch. Nice 35 mile ride in mid 70's degree temps and 7 mph winds.

A guilty conscience got me on the trainer for 30 minutes ... I have no idea how far that is. I shouldn't have weighed myself after the ride. It adds fuel to the conscience which means more trainer days ahead.

Rode late, for me, glad I had my front and rear flashing lights, another 15.1 mile day, 1h 02m 35s, no hurry yesterday, and it was kind of cool with a 51°F temperature. For a change there was no wind to add to the workout.

Good 43 mile group ride plus 12 of my own today. Bundled up for 50F start but things warmed up nicely.

Had a nice ride this afternoon, another 15.12 miles on the usual route through the farm roads of our village. Very good weather again, warming up to rain ahead of the next cold front.

Just less than two months since I had rotator cuff surgery, saw the doc today. I got cleared to ride, so, wife in tow, did 4 miles on the hybrid. She poops out after 3 miles, so had to head in, felt like I could go on an on........oh well, just have to go solo on the road bike soon. Have to see how the shoulder will do with no suspension front.

Doc also told me to start swinging a golf club.........things are looking up!

Avmech,
Glad that you got the Doc's release to ride and that the first ride went well for you. Just listen to your own body and mind as to how far and when to ride, over doing tings after surgery can backfire on you badly, too much experience with that here, please do be careful. As to golf, my handicap was that I tried to play......

When I came back to riding it was a good day to get 2 miles in for a while, it will come to you and the enjoyment of getting more miles is great.

Bill

I feel your pain. I'd sooner spend the money on my bike(s), much more pleasurable.

I rode today! First time in about eight days! First, I rode 9 miles round trip to my client. Then after dark, I rode 12 miles to a friend's house for a rehearsal. My wife had the car, and we took that back home together. I feel so much better. I really hauled tush on the second ride. Yay.

Thanks Bill. I am one who actually does listen to what my body says, saved my butt when I had my heart attack! Not pushing it for now. That is the reason I got the hybrid, had an old one that was about 25 years old, figured a front suspension would be good for the shoulder. As to riding the road bike, if it does not feel right after even 1/8 of a mile, I am getting off and hoofing it back.

And in golf, my handicap is the whole game! The golf club swinging is to be really gentle to start, any pain and I stop for the day and back off the next. You have to start somewhere.....

Best,

Frank

31 miles on the old familiar Arglington Loop, but the warm weather made it sweet.

I was nearly guilty of distracted riding though. I got a new bike computer and kept fiddling with it while riding, in the dark... Not too smart.
