A quick, short, cold ride. But I did enjoy it. I really expected the weather to be warmer than it was. It was in the high forties... but cold and damp.. still a lot of snow hanging around. More snow expected tomorrow too. Maybe another week or so of cold... but spring has to arrive soon.

Did a familiar 60 mile loop from Leesburg up to Lovettsville, across the river to Point of Rocks, mainly just so I'd have an excuse to take the ferry back across the river. Coldish for March, but much warmer than it's been, or than it's going to get next week. Ugh, where is spring??

Yesterday I participated in Cycle for Survival. Our team, Team Gray Matter, raised over $20,000.

My friend Sue, who was diagnosed with a glioblastoma (brain cancer) 3 years ago and breast cancer last September, road the "founder's" bike for a full 45 minute session.

200 spinners in the room and the music was rockin'.

HTFU, she's tougher than you can imagine.

About 75 miles total for Sat and Sun in beautiful 72 degree, low humidity, brilliant sunshine in Gainesville, FL. Saturday I rode the back roads to High Springs and back, and today the Hawthorne trail. Kept the gas on for most of both rides, I'm pleasantly tired, but not beat up. Love that Giant Defy 0, that frame absorbs a lot of the road noise........

45 miles in what could have been good weather. Alas, 23 miles into the wind, a short respite during a climb & descent followed by rain. Good thing it wasn't cold!

First real ride yesterday on new bike and major cleat position change. 18mph + on my two mi test and 8mi total. LONG way to go before ready for the May GASP !00. Might try 30 today. The new bike is fantastic so far. And the seat is wow - right out of the box and no adjustments!

Yep. So typical for this time of year. The doubts creep in about how in the world can I ever get the conditioning back to do a 100 miler with 9000 ft of climbing. Seems worlds away but somehow it happens!

35.6 miles @ 17.6 ave. It should have been 37.1 but I was riding my Trek 1500, and I dont have a base for my Garmin 500 on it. I used the Strava app on my phone, and for whatever reason it didnt start right away.

Saturday - first day of AZ vacation: 28 miles, partly in the rain and the rest through puddles. I said to myself, a ride in the rain beats a ride in the cold north of the 49.

Sunday - day 2: 30 miles. Rode with some new and old friends. Fountain Hills to Needle Rock park out and back. Was nice to ride in the warmth of the sun again.

I rode Saturday with my new Selle SMP TRK saddle ( https://www.albabici.com/selle/svt-sa...an/trk-man.htm) . After about 35 or 40 minutes, I stopped and made a positional adjustment, as I was quite uncomfortable, moving the saddle back somewhat. This helped, but then I stopped again to adjust the angle of tilt. Ultimately I decided to swap this saddle for the Selle Royal Respiro Athletic saddle ( https://www.selleroyal.com/en/comfort...-soft-athletic). My LBS is ordering it for me, so in the interim I'll have to continue with the SMP.

Yesterday I could not ride as my wife and I competed in a Bridge tournament, and today was very cold with a light layer of snow on the ground.

Perhaps tomorrow?!

Best regards

15 miles, 1000' of climbing on a rest day. First day in quite a while in jersey and shorts: no arm/leg warmers, no base layers, no vest. Was probably upper 60's. Even though I feel reasonably strong, my climbing segments are a bit slower than last year. Could be the time of the year or the result of a low mileage month. Who knows?

Didn't get to ride yesterday due to lack of sleep the night before. Very rested this morning so off I went for a very nice 44 mile ride at the wilderness park. Wild turkeys are starting to come back. Seen several of them over the past few days.
