71 miles, with 6600 ft. of climbing mostly in Luray, VA:

Untitled by jimf22003 at Garmin Connect - Details

I needed to do some work on my climbing, and this takes me up and over the ridge of Skyline Drive on Rt 211 by starting and ending in Sperryville. I just love the sweet downhills going either direction. Still a little bit of sand and salt on the roads though, so I was more cautious than usual.

I did many of these roads on a century ride last fall where it rained non-stop. It was nice to be actually able to see the scenery

It was winDAY though, and so not nearly as warm as I expected. High 50's and sunny, but the wind really cut through me.

22 short and casual miles with a cycling buddy today. I'll be doing a few more of these shorter rides throughout the week so I don't blow the legs out for next weekends MS 150.

Relaxed 32 flat miles this am. I'm going to ride easy on Tuesday and Thursday while resting up for Saturday' Tierra Bella. Due to time constraints I'm doing 81 miles of the century albeit with most of the climbing (5200'+). Weather is looking to be extremely good.

Sunny and in the 50's today. Great day for a tandem ride: 25 mostly-rural miles. After last week's 4+ inches rainfall, the White River is waaay beyond it's normal banks south of Indy.

Sunny and warm - 60 °F. Yes, spring even visits Minnesota eventually. 35 miles in the NE corner of the Twin Cities metro felt pretty good - the highest mileage of the season. I look forward to the day when that's a regular evening ride, but that will be a while...

Got in a ride between showers yesterday, 16 miles, even the winds were cooperative.

After 90 miles on Saturday, I had no plans for riding yesterday. I started walking and at 1.25 miles into it my friend texts asking if I'm going to ride. I caved in and texted back to be at my house in 20 minutes. Get a 3.5 mile walk/jog in, change clothes then ride 30 miles.

Will be heading to the bank on the GG bike momentarily.

Catching up for the weekend. 75.2 @ 17.6 ave on Saturday, the club ride plus a few extra miles (moved the saddle forward a bit and wanted at least a 75 mile ride on the new position before Hemet this weekend), and 20.4 @ 19.6 on a quick ride Sunday

30 miles this morning in some pretty brutal winds. Worked the legs a bit more than I planned to. I'll rest them up tomorrow.

Once the thunderstorm line passed through it dried out nicely, managed to ride 25 miles this afternoon.

I am so jealous of all of you who are posting about 60, 70, 90 mile rides. I don't have the fitness at the moment to do such long rides, and even if I did I wouldn't have the time. You guys make me long for retirement, even though that's not at all in the foreseeable future.

But it was a gorgeous sunny day and I managed to get out for 18 miles this evening. I'm still building my base, so all my rides are slow, but if I go a little faster it's owing to technique - spinning and getting aero. The upside of this is that I really do concentrate on technique - my circles are more reliably circular and my forearms more nearly horizontal. I still have no real strength in my legs, though. I think that somewhere in this recovery phase I'm going to have to do a whole bunch of hill repeats. Not yet though.

Another 25 miler, kind of cool today, the NW wind was stiff and it was cloudy most of the ride. No rain, thankfully, its supposed to be off and on today and tonight, tomorrow should bring a warm up to nearly normal spring temps for our area.

Some of us have to go to work and don't have much time for riding.

However I do get to commute. Right now the Masi is fired up and ready for tomorrow morning.

I don't think I posted it here yet, but on Monday I rode the Motobecane (believed to be a '74 Champion Team) to work for its maiden voyage. It was also my first ride on sew-up tires. What a quick and lively machine! I suspect the tires have something to do with that.

Unfortunately the rear tire went bang a few mile from home on my return. 25 miles on a new Vitorria and now it has a cut. Maybe it can be salvaged. So I also got my first experience replacing a flat sew-up on the side of the road.

Short 10 mile ride before dinner. I could complain about the wind, but that's why I chose to ride the hills today.

Same boat as above ... but even a 10 mile ride is like a breath of fresh air in an otherwise busy day. And for me, cleaning my bike is just as much enjoyment as riding.

I'll take what I can get now and worry about retirement if and when it happens.

30 mile plan for today turned into 45. About three weeks left to get mileage up close to 80 or so for the 5/3 GASP 100.

Ho hum, another routine 30 mile ride on the Masi in mid-50's temperatures, cool dry air, with 8 hours of work in the middle.

I rode 5.2 miles this afternoon. It's not very far but for me it's a good distance since I'm just starting out.
