Last tuneup before Ride the Rockies. 81.5 miles with 7400' of climbing. I'll probably do a couple shorter rides this week and then head to the land of little O2!

18 miles today. May's goal was 100 miles and I went 136.4 miles. I guess I'm happy with that.

Tranquil 58 miles, 48 of which was on a social "B" group ride. My idea for the weekend was to get in some easy miles on Saturday and do something more challenging on Sunday, but now it looks like it will rain tomorrow, so maybe that wasn't such a great plan. Oh well, the ride today was quite pleasant. It was chiefly on lovely trails by lakes and rivers in Minneapolis and St. Paul. It's amazing how far you can go in the Twin Cities on trails.

103 miles, 10K+ of climbing, near Lexington VA and up onto the Blue Ridge Parkway (for JPPE, this goes over Thunder Ridge but from the other direction -- much easier. That climb up from Buchanan on 43 OTOH was a beach.)

Lexington, Buchanan, BRP

Yes, it was slow, but... it was HILLY. Also I ran into about a ten-mile stretch of gravel on the Bluegrass Trail tat I wasn't expecting, and it was on the part that goes up and over a mountain. The weather was beautiful, the traffic was practically nonexistent, and my legs are fried to a crisp, but man it was a great day.

30+ miles yesterday and 30+ this AM on the Hawthorne Trail out of Gainesville, FL. I pushed a bit harder today and averaged a bit over 20 mph. Not been riding as much as I would like due to bad weather and sore back.

JimF - amazing ride. Not only the miles, but the total elevation gain. It'll be on the list of areas to ride, "someday".

For me 40 miles yesterday, and a lovely 17 mile ride with my wife this morning.

This post should be in the 70 Minus category (ie. 68)
I'm an active cyclist. I ride 17mi/day. 1138 miles so far this year. Thought I was pretty good at it. I tried the popular 4th St. run to Verdi today. (Reno to Verdi = 12 miles.)
Now, the guy that told me about it said, "Yeah, there's some incline." Uh-huh, for a mountain goat! That ride kicked my butt. Way too much gravity for me. 3 miles into the ride I came around a (very) uphill curve only to discover more uphill and another curve. Not knowing how much more uphill (and damn gravity) there was in the 9 or so miles left, I turned around and rode back (some of that being uphill too).
· · Right! Some bicyclist I am. Most of the bicyclists I saw were on high-end (drop bar) road bikes and speeding up those "inclines". And they were (relatively) young. I did, however, take my regular bicycle path ride (15mi) today.
· · Not such a good day for the gravitationally challenged. But now I have a goal. I'm bidding on 23s on ebay for the road bike and I'm going to try both bikes on that ride. Bet I make it the second time. If I can do that a few times a month I'm sure to lose 30lbs by the end of summer.

Gravity is a conspiracy perpetrated by the makers of time, space, and wire coat hangers.

I'm almost embaressed to say I only rode 17 miles today at an average speed of 12 mph. Mountain bike on a paved bike trail.
I only rode 12 yesterday. Wish I had more time and more strength.

We have the same goals. I also rode 18 miles today. My total milage for the week was 119 miles. I had my best month to date at 461 miles.

Did the senior-citizen edition of the Sequoia Century out of Los Altos, CA: 56 miles, 5800 feet of climbing. I finished and didn't stop save for the two rest stops, but it wasn't pretty at the end, using my granny to get up 6% grades I feel reasonably fit although riding has been up & down these last several weeks. Still, better than being a couch potato.

Enjoyed a HOOTS Tandem Weekend yesterday and today in Batesville IN. 52 miles/37 miles Sat/Sun. Beautiful countryside, great weather, great people. (Great Stoker!)

It wasn't all flat! Really!

44 miles with my riding buddies, yesterday. Wanted to see how I would do against the two of them on their road bikes with me on the wife's trike. Except for one part of the 22 mile lap, where I slowed down and got a little too far behind, I kept up with them and was even ahead of them the rest of the time. Now that I know, I won't be doing that very often since the legs aren't used to the different muscles doing the work. The second lap was done on the road bike and I showed them no mercy.

Thirty miles on the W&OD with my brand new Fuji Rubaix 1.0 LE. I swapped seats with my Trek hybrid seat. Much better!

A nice 35 miles this morning in some unexpectedly cool weather (70*) for this time of year. I doubt it will stay this way for more than a day or two.

Biked to Work today! 20 miles. A RR crossing on my route was closed for rejuvenation so, after walking across where cars could not go, had the road to myself for a couple of miles.

37 miles on the Tuesday night club hill climbing ride. Rain threatened but stayed away. It was for the most part a very pleasant social ride. Notably, I did it with the Felt for the first time. I was wondering how that would go, as the Felt has standard 53/39 chain rings and a couple of the hills are steep (>10%) (but admittedly, not very long). It worked out just fine. I was previously contemplating putting a bigger cog on the bike to deal with rides with yet more hills (e.g., in Wisconsin), but now I'm thinking that I can try some more hilly rides with the current set up.

Meet 10 old buddies , average age ~68, and did 43 miles in rolling country side of East Tennessee, with a short steep climb. Nice day, back by 1230, and the heat was starting to build.

Doing my usual 17mi. I bought some used Bontrager R2 folding tires on ebay ($22 vs $60 new). Man, what a difference these light weight 23s (vs 28s) make on the Allez road bike. My usual 40min ride was 32min. Not bad for an old fat guy.
