34+ miles with the regular weeknight group. We rode harder than Tuesday night, but overall ride speed was slower. Just shows you what warmer temperatures and having fewer riders means to the effort.

Rode 18.1 mi. @ 19.6 mph avg. on my hybrid this morning. Heart rate 144 avg., max 160

Last night was heavy storms and high winds, that was the reason for riding the hybrid today. I expected tree branches on the MUP and was correct.

Got in a very nice 25.5 miles this afternoon, temps were moderated ahead of the weekend rain we are expecting/getting now.

Fred, looks like you are getting back into the groove, don't push things too hard. You are one of the many members here that inspire me to keep going. I really like your trike's set up.

23 miles, 2200 ft of climbing on the mountain bike, mainly on gravel roads. Very hilly, but fun. I'm most deadly on a mountain bike when I try to make a small-radius turn at slow speeds on loose terrain. Did a slow-speed tip-over trying that one. It wouldn't be a true mountain bike ride for me if I didn't have at least one doofy-looking crash.

38 mi. this morning @ 19.6 mph avg.

It was an obstacle course, tree branches down, 80' section of the trail with 4" deep water flowing fast across it from the heavy rains, then a reworked section just reopened that the approach to the tunnel was covered with mud. I skated all of the way through it at a pretty good clip, thought I was going down, it would have been a mess.

No ride yesterday; too much running around to do. Got in a nice 42 mile ride this morning in our usual summer heat and humidity. Wind picked up toward the end of the ride, so that was good.

28 mi on the path. Was windy and supposed to storm, but luckily I didn't have to get the poncho out. Might have felt good though, it was hot.

I was crossing one street when an emergency vehicle came up by me. My turn-around point was up ahead, an historic farm. The path goes between the farm and a parking lot and is straight with no obstructions. The emergency vehicles were there. Appar4ntly to cyclists ran into each other and it looked like one had broken his jaw. I don't know how it happened, certainly wasn't a blind turn or anything.

Weather forecast for this morning and midday was isolated storms. We really didn't want to miss this club ride starting on our side of town for a change and including some 'gentle climbs' as opposed to flatlands or gawdawful hills. So, even though it was raining on our drive to the start, we rode the tandem on the ride and it was - for the most part - good.
Weather forecast was sorta correct in that there were no storms, but we did ride in showers/sprinkles/rain for about 2/3 of the 54 miles. Warm, no lightning, no downpours.
Problem with the rain was that it made the steel grid surface of a bridge on the route very slippery and, in spite of the orange 'caution' spray-painted on the road by the ride leaders, and in spite of slowing down........down we went onto our left sides.
Abrasions and bruises on both our left hips/upper outer thighs, small gash on stoker's finger and two smallish gashes on captain's forearm, by the elbow and right next to the scar from my previous bike fall 26 months ago. No broken bones and the bike seems undamaged. Yay!
We were able to ride the remaining 20 miles without difficulty but were very happy to get to the car.
Lots of bridges in rural Indiana with steel grid decking and many of them have signs warning motorcyclists () to be aware. Have ridden over lots of them in the past but never when wet.

46 mile group ride at 18.6 MPH and about 133 Heart rate. Much better condition.

Group had two flats with ripped tires so 15 minute repairs each looking for solution to tires. Then tree trimmers cut a tree right across our road on return; another 10+ minute wait until cleared. Can you believe this?

Pretty warm these days however we leave at sunup or 7:00 which helps along with heavy clouds.

I've been doing my commute but today was for recreational cycling.

My sweetie and I took the tandem out today and set our longest day ever, 75.8 miles. Started directly from home but didn't get the early start we were hoping for. It didn't matter, we still rode all day, made it home about 6:30. Traffic was light and the weather was spectacular. Waltham, Belmont, Cambridge, Arlington, Lexington, Bedford, Concord, Carlisle, Chelmsford, Westford, and a slightly different route home through the same towns. Now for some pics.

A long ride is impossible, and pointless, without snacks. First snacks of the day, with only 60 miles to go:

A sun-dappled, tree-lined road somewhere in I forget where:

Possibly the most unusual sign we've ever seen is one I've posted before, "Tattooed Poultry". (My avatar is an extraction from that original photo.) For the last few months the barn where this sign hung has been undergoing restoration, and we wondered if the gorgeous old red shingles and the sign were going back up. Well, we don't know about the shingles and the answer to that is probably no, but the sign is back up! Rejoice!

The bike rack at Ferns had both extremes, large and small:

The Carlisle Cranberry Bog is turning red. In another month or so they'll start harvesting berries.

On the way home we spotted this sign, had to take a pic for posting:

End of the the day and the bike is tired. So are we. I started my recovery with some Dogfish Head 90 Minute Recovery Fluid. Sharon wanted a long day so we rode...

The payback is I get to do a solo ride tomorrow on the Masi. Yeah, right, like I'll have any legs left. Tomorrow doesn't matter. Today was good for the soul.

103 miles, 7000 ft of climbage, from Lexington south along Buffalo Creek to Natural Bridge, back through Buena Vista to Vesuvius, and then back south along the valley through Rockbridge Baths. First really pretty hot day in a long, long time. Took a lot out of me, despite being well hydrated and well fed (mmmm, barbecue potato chips!)

44 miles yesterday and 22 this morning with the wife. Showed her a new route today and she really liked it. She ended up dropping 8 minutes from her fastest 22 mile time, so I think this route is a keeper for her. Since she normally rides solo, I now have to teach her the do's and don'ts about riding in a bike lane with someone behind her. Those sudden, unannounced stops are killers.
