A bunch of us C&V'ers rode 46.6 miles on the CCRT today, Dennis to Wellfleet and back, with a side trip over to the Atlantic.

Cut the ride back to 16.7 miles this afternoon, no problems just a shorter ride on a beautiful day. It was an hour very well spent.

I feel like such a wimp today. Only 12.14 miles @ 15.4mph when most Saturdays are 28+ (daily are 18.5). Started out two hours later than usual. Only able to sleep a couple of hours dozing last night, kinda tired, but riding is an imperative. I went in debt for this Roubaix SL3 (it'll be paid off in Jan) and the more I ride it, the more I like it. I usually ride from my apartment (3 miles to the bike path, 3 miles back) but today I involved the car and drove to the bike path. It's getting quite a work out this month. I'll bet I have to re-fill the tank before December. No afternoon ride today. Getting much cooler.

Did the first day of the Fall Foliage Festival in Staunton, VA, 100 miles, about 7K of climbing. As usual on group rides, I was more exhausted afterwards then I usually am when I do a similar difficulty ride on my own. I guess I just need to be shamed into not dogging it

Day was very, very windy, and the route was mainly in wide-open farming country. For a ride that is supposed to be for the purpose of admiring the Fall Foliage, we didn't pass many trees. I guess the un-harvested dried cornstalks counts as foliage in some circles

Day 2 is today, with options for another 100-mile day. We'll see if I make it. I haven't done back-to-back centuries yet this year.

Kudos to you! I takes me 6-7 days to do a century. I guess daily that would be a 16th of a century? Since I took up cycling again in late 2012 the most I've done in a day is 33 miles.

I'll procrastinate tomorrow.

Last weekend day before next weekend's Coast to Coast Ride. Took my buddy out for a back to back distance ride so he would know what to expect on the ride. A very nice 67 mile ride on a absolutely perfect day. After today, I think he's ready for next weekend.

Visited a bike club friend today who has a recumbent (as one of many bikes) that he needed help figuring out optimal seat/handlebars positioning so that he could ride the thing with confidence.
Twelve miles on rural roads including stops for adjustments resulted in much more confident starts, stops, turns, cruising and overall comfort.

Kept things at the 16.7 mile distance again today. Absolutely beautiful fall weather for the umpteenth day in a row. Front moved through last night and kept things cool, this is a great time to ride.

Day 2 of the Fall Foliage Festival, 73 miles. I was pretty rusty from yesterday, an my rear end had lost some of its resilience. Still pretty windy, and a lot cooler than Saturday, but overall a very nice ride, with much nicer country. I'm a bit biased though since all of these roads are my "neighborhood" now

Jim-I did some miles in Boone and it was incredibly windy at higher elevations. I climbed Snake Mountain with wind gusts 25-30 mph. The worst was descents where unexpected side bursts would move you over while doing 40+ mph. Survival mode! Plus the leaves were all blown off the trees!!

29 miles this afternoon. The fall is turning out to be very good for riding, in our area, this year. Not as dry as in the past so the dust hasn't kicked up when the farmers are harvesting the corn, cotton and peanuts as it has in past autumns. Cotton is being defoliated right now so the actual harvest will begin over the next 2 weeks, there will be lots of cotton bolls on and along the roads for a few weeks, looks like snow at times when the bales are being transported from the fields to the co-op's gin. Tractors are much more numerous on the roads now, too, they are courteous towards cyclist, thankfully, the really large combines take up the entire roadway and could make things rough it we didn't cooperate on traffic and pulling over for each other when its needed. Works both ways.

37 miles today (Tuesday), 36 miles Sunday, 43 miles Friday, averaging about 12.7 on my lead sled Safari. Rolling hills and a rotating headwind, but really fun. Some of the hills down by the river are pretty steep, double fun!!

Catching up from the weekend, just returned to the GWN from a sunny week in AZ.

Saturday rode 50 miles with the Bicycle Ranch shop ride. Rode to and thru the hills of Carefree. Love that area.

Not to shabby of a photo taken while riding with one hand (at the back of the paceline).

Sunday, rode a relaxed 15 miles with my wife along the green belt in Scottsdale.
Sadly, we're back home ... destined to get the trainer set up ... but not yet.

Heresy perhaps: I'm going to take the significant amount of non-cycling weather that New Hampshire dishes out between now and about next May to cross train. I road my new Concept 2 rowing machine last night and have a bunch of "suddenly utilized" muscles talking to me this morning. In a good way.

Took the road bike to the LBS yesterday to have it checked up and a new chain installed for this weekends Coast to Coast ride, so there was no ride for the day. The bike is in the house with the wheels off awaiting new tires, which I'll put on this afternoon or tomorrow. Took the hybrid to the park this morning for a nice 23 mile ride with the wife. After not riding it for a long time, it was sure strange to do a 23 mile ride on it. Good thing the ride wasn't longer because the butt wasn't used to the saddle I have on it.
