If you ever go back, check out the New River Trail that runs between Galax and Pulaski, about 55 miles one way and just 30 miles past Abington.

88 miles yesterday. Very windy. High temp 47f low temp 31f.
|
Only 21 miles today. Same distance 4 of the last 6 days so 80 sounds better lol
|
63.6 miles @ 15.6 rolling ave on the group ride today
|
Today was cold with temps just below freezing between 26F and 32F, depending on location. Rode the bike path where another cyclist gave me a hearty "Happy New Year brotha". This greeting warm me right up.

A nice 23 mile, "last ride of the year with the wife" ride this morning. It rained all day yesterday so today's temps were in the 60s and it was just really damp outside. I wasn't planning on riding today but she wanted to go and you married guys know how that ends.
  Happy New Year to everyone on BF's 50+  |

Great way to cap off another year of cycling. 56 miles with 4400'+ of climbing up and over Brushy and Little Brushy Mountain. I tried spinning easy gears and just soak in the winter scenery. Pretty cool day with limited sun but thankfully very little wind. 36 degrees at the start and 43 at the finish. Perfect on the many climbs but very chilly on the descents. |
Ending 2014 sitting here typing and surfing the 'net. No ride yesterday or today, not feeling very well right now, bagged the rides. Thanks everyone here in the 50+ Forum for a great year of riding.

63.3 miles (100km) from palo alto to san mateo coyote point and back.
|
Did 20 miles on my 3 speed, 33F to start 34F at end (windchill was 27F) Good way to end the year.

A Happy New Year to all wishing you smooth roads, no flats and expectations exceeded ahead.
First time in 64.5 years I bicycled the Old out and New in. Watched a number of local fireworks while the iPod played. Just a short ride after a Garmin 910XT reset to start the recording for hopefully a Kona year. A change of bikes, clothes and a bite to eat then 60 miles out on the Paramount. |
Through last night, I have 550 miles on my trainer this off-season. The last ten days have been pretty spotty. Today -- amazingly -- I may get out for an outdoor ride on the mtb.
|
Two loops of Bethpage in 60 minutes, 18 miles and 35.7*F
|
It was a 6.5 mile midnight ride and then got a 71 mile daytime ride. Rode the 32 year old Paramount. Still rides nice and smooooth.

An excellent 41 mile ride with the Team Coast to Coast riders on their annual New Year's Day ride. A bit chilly at the start of the ride but it warmed up rather quickly, turning into the kind of Florida weather we all love. It was great seeing some of the people that I did the Cross Florida Ride with and some alumni that have done it before me that I've met.

25 miles this afternoon, finally got out to ride after dealing with a stomach bug of some kind Tuesday and Wednesday. Happy New Year to everyone.

Happy 1/1/15 to all!
As I already posted in the New Year's Day Ride thread: Mid-30's and windy but some sun and dry when I got out for a 9-mile ride this afternoon |
Only went 10 miles. I went as far as the paths were plowed then turned around and came home.
|
21 miles on the trainer this afternoon (or 201W avg for 72 minutes, take your pick)... brings me up to 567 total for the off season, so far. Routine pretty well busted for the last ten days. Net damage about + 1kg, -10W FTP. Tough getting going again, looking forward to getting my groove on again.

I rode today. 10 miles in mid-30s mist. Miserable. It was exhilarating.
I was sitting in front of Facebook and BF looking at everyone's first ride of the year pics and decided I had to get my own in. The temp was almost up to 40, the ice in the trees had pretty much melted and the rain stopped. Roads were still wet but I was confident they weren't frozen, not even in patches. So I did a modest 10 miles. Although the rain had stopped, there was a lot of mist and moisture in the air and it was almost as if it was raining. I was chilled but exhilarated by the time I got home. http://www.bikeforums.net/attachment...0&d=1420174342 http://www.bikeforums.net/attachment...1&d=1420174347 |
43 miles on the tandem, 1600' climbing, mostly by ourselves. 32°-43° and clear. Lots of ice by the roadsides. Mostly took it easy. 14.4 average. No rest stop.

I finally got to ride today after almost two weeks off the bike due to illness. It felt really good to be back on the bike.

A nice 18 mile ride on the wife's recumbent trike. Lots of fun to ride unless there's a headwind.
