Did you ride today?

Don't mince words
31+ miles today in sunny but c-c-c-cold weather. Just an easy ride, enjoying the smells and sights of autumn. I'm happy to feel like riding and enjoy it. Next week could be trainer time; big storms are predicted to roll through.

Fridays are normally a rest day for me. Club ride tomorrow morning, with a chilly start (temps in the mid-upper 30's). I did run 3 days this week, a 5k each time. I expect to get close to 60 miles in tomorrow, and 20 or 26 on Sunday.

Very cold this morning with temps between 24 and 26 and sunny with the wind, temp probably was in upper teens. Did 5 miles though. Despite layered clothing and insulated full finger gloves, my fingers were frozen and I was cold. Will ride again if temp improve to upper 20's or low 30's. Hopefully there will be few days of those before the end of the year.

27 miles along the Maine coast
Another bonus day here in Maine. Temp in 50s, light wind. Enjoyable ride of 27 miles. Who would have thought I would still be riding in December?

I did 10 miles today since we're to have Arctic air moving in that will bring our daytime high temps down to single digits and drop us sub-zero at night. It was cold enough today--low 20s. I hadn't ridden since a bout of flu. I almost didn't go for the ride, but couldn't stand the thought that I may not be able to get on the bike most of next week. (I'm not going to try to ride when our highs are 5 or 8F and we've got steady winds of 8 MPH with gusts of 15 MPH. I don't have a death wish.)

Yes! I took off work and went to the single track and rode around twelve miles. It was real slippy due to all the rain we have had. I took an inner trail that I have never been on and found a new route that I will taking from now on when I go here. It was more techincal and had a lot of logs you had to go over and drop offs and stuff, real cool! I had taken off the Candy"s and put on the platform pedals because I just wasn't too sure about riding trails clipped in. I have before and I seem to fall too much, once is too much for me, so I feel so much more secure with the platforms. Glad I did too as the inner trail would have had me falling quite a lot today. Some of those logs were pretty big and clipped in I know I would have not made it.
Anyway getting out was fun today.

Started in 32 degree weather with the Tweeners. 40 miles from Lincoln to Newcastle CA and looped back. The ride was marred by a crash near the end. We had broken into to 5-person pacelines on a flat, straight road, a usual practice. The group in front went down (wheel touch). One to the doctor (we hope not too serious) and two bikes damages.
Heading down one of my favorite roads, Millertown

More on Millertown

On the way home after the break. We hooked up with another sub-group of our club.

Went to the general staff meeting at the main office. Rode home, a couple of extra miles from my normal commute. It was cold! When I checked the weather report it was only 30 degrees. I guess winter is here. I guess I will have to prepare my winter bike sooner than I thought.

Just finished my coldest ride in 9 months.
The temperature was 22f as I went out the door and it stayed below 30f.
36 miles along the Chicago lakeshore.
Cheers

About 40 mi. into deteriorating weather. 40F at the start, and 37F at the end with rain/sleet here in NJ. A buddy called and wanted to ride, so we went out and had a great time. Snow on the ground now, with more to come.

It was a chilly but enjoyable afternoon ride. 10 miles in I picked up this hitchhiker. New territory, probably looks the same as the old. Even the repairs were "rewarding."

Our rare "dry spell" continues here in Seattle - did 33 miles in 35 degree weather. No wind, no rain, even a bit of sunshine. A fair number of cyclists out.

Ride in the rain? OK. Ride in the cold? If I must. Both? Arrrgh!
Another of those functional rides. With rain threatening to become snow, I kept an eye on Weatherbug to find a break in the clouds. Sure enough it happened and I was off!
There was still some drizzle and was in the low 40s. Just Nasty. But traffic was fairly light. The return trip was just cold. Total miles 5.75.
Observations? Nothing of note except on confirmation that a**holes in vehicles insist on demonstrating the obvious under the worst conditions. "Oh, its wet, maybe I can spin my tires between lights". OK, did you consider that you could fish-tale on the wet pavement? Hitting another car, or worse, my bike? "Well, duh..but I spun my tires!" Yeah, right sez I.

Test my cold (what we call cold here in SoCal 50 to 56 degrees) outfit today for 20 miles. Three layers on top, two layers for the bottom. Was nice and warm, even a little hot.Overcast with 3 to 8 mph wind. Saw a gaggle of geese in the Rio Hondo river bed overflow catch basin. I have seen 8 to 10 in flight but never over a 100 all at once. Can add that to the Eagles, Vultures and hawks that i have seen since i started riding this year.

10 miles yesterday in 31F sunny weather. 12 miles today at 36F and overcast. Less favorable (colder and wet) conditions forecast after today. Still need to work out gloves that will keep my fingertips warm until I warm up after about 20-30 minutes.

23 miles this morning. Weather was ideal, started with ride temp at 29 and ended ride at 35. MUP was clear of pedestrians and encounter only one other cyclist. Forecast for the next few days is not good with snow and temps in the 20's mostly.

Friday and Saturday the weather was terrible. Today was cold by my standards but I gave it a go any way, the temps in the low 60s and light wind from the NNE & cloudy. Christmas decoration are poppping up every where.

40 miles with a local group braving the cold weather. The sun felt good though. First weekend since March that I didn't log over 100 miles.

I can't start a new thread so I'll post the ride here. I did a century with a Filipino club Saturday. It was cold, (35 at the start), and windy all day. We had 10,000 feet of climbing, but none of the peaks were over 4000 feet. This club knows how to make you feel welcome and the food is fantastic. I stopped to help my friend Sarah at the start, (she had Cytomax in her cable guide) so I was off the back earlier than usual. Here is the profile.

Here is me trying to pass people on the first climb.

Got into a group for a while. I'm the large one on the right.
