I went for a bicIcle ride on the Allez. 11°, 2mph breeze (11:30AM), multiple layers of clothing. The bike path is still frozen over so I stayed on the streets for 6 miles. I was trying for 7 but the wind came up. Got out for a little while anyway.

Nice 43 mile recovery ride with a great group of folks. Sunny, temps around 50 with minimal wind. Chili and beer afterwards. My legs felt surprisingly fresh after yesterday's 100 miler. I'm a big believer in R4 recovery drink.

Nicer weather today even though still in the mid-30's. But sunny and without a west wind. 10 miles, 3 hills.

First ride for the New Year, felt like I was adjusted to the new medication, no side effects have shown up, thankfully. 26.5 miles, 47ºF, not much wind to make it harder, actually a pretty good day for riding.

First ride of 2016. Managed to gut out 50 miles in a constant cross/head wind along the Narrows. Getting cold as well. But hey I got to ride so it was a good day

my first proper ride of the year yesterday .... 25.7 km (16 miles) and the 1st time that I've tried using Strava) ...
Im well pleased as I ride a heavy hybrid with flatbar and 2 large pannier bags containing work gear plus 2 heavy D-Locks .... and I weigh 90 kg (198 pounds) ... very overweight and 55 years old
I have only been cycling for 12 weeks and started off at 95.7 kg ... I also have a sigma computer with cadence, and managed to cycle most of the way over 80RPM
done the same route 3 weeks ago in similar conditions, and it took me 67 minutes, so I have managed to shave off 12 minutes

No ride yesterday or today.
Rained out both days but tomorrow is suppose to be dry and back to normal. Kurt Searvogel should break the world record tomorrow between 4:00 and 5:30 PM. I have a doctor's appoint during that time period or I would be out there riding with him for the record breaking mile. However, I may make the open celebration party later that evening.

Yesterday, first ride in about a month, with a nasty cold and lots of overeating in the meantime. 31 painful, humiliating miles in pleasant 40° weather.

Today - same route and mileage as yesterday but a bit colder. Quite tolerable for January 3.

A really fun social 35 miler with the local folks I ride with often. One of our fellas is a planner by trade and we rode into a local town and he pointed out what is planned for the area. New minor league baseball stadium, multi family housing, new bike trails..........very informative and most interesting. We rode on some bike trails I never even knew existed........

Another 16 mile round trip on a clear springlike afternoon that may have reached 60F, but chilled quickly after 4 pm. Typical Texas "winter" - can't make up its mind what it wants to be when it grows up. I'm toting long pants and a sweater or jacket on the rear rack just in case. And I've gotten some use from my ear warmers and polypropylene glove liners.

Sunday afternoon's ride was another 26.5 miler, the distance of the week, it seems. No further problems with the new PD medication, I think I have adjusted to taking it pretty well.

25.8 miles @ 16.1 with 1158'. Coldest ride of the season for me - 31 deg with a steady 15mph wind. After the warm weather we have been having it seemed colder than it was. I better HTFU fast.

The bike path(s) and sides of some roads are still covered in ice and frozen snow. Overcast, gloomy, cabin fever. It takes me 20-30 mins to suit up for winter riding, including wrapping the knee. But I did that today for 5.2 miles on the trike

I should hit the 10,000 mile mark (since late 2013) by March. BIG storm coming in from the coast. The Sierra Mtns should experience lots of snow, and probably here on the valley floor too. It's stayed cold so the snow hasn't melted and the bike path(s) are not sprayed or plowed. It might be mid-month before I can resume regular rides.

I've ridden every day this year! (Four day holiday weekend with tolerable-for-January weather and clear roads.) Same 10 miles/3 hills route today as the last two days.

Decided to work on leg strength and balance Monday evening and rode about 30 minutes on some paved hills and another half hour on a nearby utility easement which has a nice mix of damp grass, gravel and hills suitable for my conditioning.
Also enjoyed the opportunity to test my Michelin all terrain tires on canine obstacles. A free range pit bull gave chase, then, in an unprecedented change of pace for me, decided to run in front of me for awhile. I tried to draft off the pooch but its peloton discipline was terrible and when it tired and decided to peel off it simply slowed down in front of me without moving aside or signaling. I may have hurt its feelings, but probably nothing else, when I ran over its muscular haunches.
I saw the same doggie again later, still roaming loose in its yard, but it showed no enthusiasm for resuming our workout.
50 psi seems about right for these tires at my weight given the mixed terrain of pavement, gravel, grass and dogs.

The sun actually came out yesterday, first time that it shone in a while. I took full advantage of the nice weather conditions to ride 27.5 miles. There were some stiff NNW winds to work on, but nothing to write home about, temperature stayed at 47ºF the entire ride, very nice riding day, all around.
Edit: Today, the sun was still out, but that is in the process of changing, looks like rain is a big possibility after tomorrow morning, no biggie. This afternoon, 26.65 miles in pretty much the same conditions, as Monday. A bit cooler, with winds out of the NE, but still as brisk as yesterday's were.

37 extremely windy miles this morning. Winds in the upper teens with gusts in the upper twenties. Looks as if the temperature is starting to get back to normal.

Hill repeats. Another January thaw kind of day! Sunny and 43. This is what my riding will be like when roadie season begins in 8wks. Counting down!

34 miles with 909 feet. Not as cold as the past few days - 39 deg as opposed to 14 yesterday. Still adapting to this dense winter air. Speed is slower by about 1.5 to 2 mph at the same effort level. At least I hope it's the winter air or maybe my age is catching up to me.
