Beautiful imagery there.
Ya know, I'm just jealous because I can't ride with drops anymore, (back problems) - and my right knee is held together by four screws (at least those are titanium!), so I can't ride as hard as I would sometimes like. So I've learned to appreciate the joys of slow. That's why all my bikes have rearview mirrors - so I can see you guys coming up "On yer left!". Cheers!

Suddenly it's Spring. Temps are getting warm, trees are budding, dogwoods are in bloom and birds are nesting. I love it.

Tried for a 37 mile ride before the rain came but was only able to get in 24 miles. Hoping the weatherman is wrong for tomorrow's forecast calling for rain all day.

April is a strange month. Cold this AM, back to lined pants, sweatshirt, thinsilite mittens and knit cap under the helmet. The wind cut the ride on the Roubaix to 18.0 @1:26 miles. When the tree tops try to kiss the road it's time to go home.

Great weather rolling in. Errands in the morning, 15.8 miles late morning; at this point I am really just trying to burn fat and continue to eat healthier. In the afternoon, got some soapy water in a bucket, and washed/lubed my ride. Good rides are a coming.

Rode 27+ miles (forgot to restart Cyclemeter a couple of times) to and from a local street arts fair. Just loafing along and enjoying the ride instead of fighting the wind. And ran into (not literally) a couple of folks I'd met before on some local group rides. Very pleasant day.

DQRider, nice photo! I feel that sometimes a photo from a ride is more telling than the ride times, avg. speed numbers, etc...

Beautiful weather here in PA. Signs of spring everywhere, including my lawn which I should be mowing instead of riding...

First longer gravelride of the year today, 50 miles on snowbare springroads. Nice ride and quite a bit slower than wwhen the gravel is dry. Love my "New" Gitane Trophee With GP 4000 in 28 mm. Faster than the narrower GP 4000's on tarmac and Works surprisingly well on gravel.

You know, that's the irony, though, isn't it? Unless we are truly hearty, we don't ride all winter. Then, when riding weather finally arrives, so do all the chores that go with it. Good weather for riding is also good weather for landscaping, working on cars, house maintenance... so many competing priorities. But I insist on taking at least an hour out of every nice day to ride, even if that hour is at sunrise, or sunset. In fact, I find those golden hours are the best times to ride. The photography is also best then, of course.

A breakout day. Sunny, 72 and no wind. Rode the Boyne Triangle (open road 20 mile). For the first ride time riding it this year, a 15.4avg not bad.

Cold but sunny for 20.1 on the Roubaix. Ran outta steam when the wind came up so I didn't take the have-to-cross-several-blasted-traffic-lights loop. Nice ride overall.

Did a very nice 47 mile ride with the Coast 2 Coast group this morning. Looked as if it was going to be rained out, as of last night, but the rain held off all morning. Drove up to the Brooksville area to get some hills done. Believe it or not, Florida does have some areas with some pretty good hills. Did 1,800 feet of climbing and for Florida, that's pretty darn good.

Just got back from a very nice 13.5 mile ride down to the James River here in Richmond, Virginia.
13.5 miles total
50:38 time
16.0 mph (avg)
...done on my beloved C&V "old school" '85 Fuji Del Rey
The main reason for the ride, was to test out the new stainless steel toe clips that I picked up at Performance Bike. I got a nice "Happy Birthday" email from them with a coupon for $10 off, so I cashed it in and got the toe clips for just about 5 bucks. Can't beat that!

Spring in San Diego... How can you tell?
When I was out there in the eighties, we were told there was a local ordinance to the effect that it was only allowed to rain after sunset, and that they set the thermometer for the day at City Hall. The only way we knew another year had passed was the start of House Racing Season down the hills above Laguna Beach. That's when they called out the Marines to go and fill sandbags - and watch multi-million-dollar McMansions slide down the muddy cliffs.
Good times...

Nice group ride of 61 miles with 3500 ft of climbing. Temps were 43 degrees at the start and 63 at the finish. Averaged 18.5 mph. Makes me wonder if I can ever do a sub 5 hour century again???

53 miles with 1673 feet @ 16.6 avg. Finally starting to feel like spring. Temps climbed to 65 by the end of the ride and the winter bite had left the wind. Long time coming.

Cool at 9AM but warmed up quickly. I was overdressed by the end of 24.1 @1:53 on the Allez. Spring hasn't quite sprung yet but it's bouncing.
