Another 10 miles Monday night on the sofa bike. Much more comfy. I'm definitely getting fatter, cushy tires for the rigid fork bike.

We had done a 17 miler on Monday, but it was cut short by a friend who dropped by my house needing her bikes tuned up.
We got in a pretty quick 25.1 miles today. We went out with a tailwind, so a bit faster than usual to the turn around. We fought the breeze coming back, but still wound up with our best average in a long, long time. I'm starting to feel a bit like my old self, but am still way too heavy.....

23 miles Wednesday evening. Planned to ride more but had to cut it short when a cluster headache struck. Had several of those recently, but this was the first in years that hit while riding.

On the plus side, the new Continental Speed Ride tires I installed today are a big improvement over the tires I'd been using. Much softer ride without feeling sluggish.

Not a single long ride today but 3 shorties between the showers, while visiting the left-ier side Portland.
Didn't see any roses, but Fall has fell.

I finished my first calendar year back(since 2002) riding on a road bike with 8,372 miles completed. Yesterday I joined my club out in Tampa's Flatwood Park and did a fast 26 miles. During our ride we passed Amanda Coker several times heading in the opposite direction. She's on schedule to SMASH not only the women's mileage record for 1 year but to better the men's record which was set last year in Flatwoods as well! GO AMANDA!!!!!

Wish I didn't have a doctor's appointment yesterday. Maybe we could have met.

Went out this morning in a light drizzle and met my buddy Steve. Got into a fast group ride for about 20 miles until Steve pooped out. Got in 30 miles with Steve, 5 with Amanda and 7 miles solo. Very high winds predicted for tomorrow so it may be another day off the bike.

You done good with the 8,372 miles. See you at Horrible Hundred in November and Six Gap next year.

WINDY with even some more wind was the nature of today's ride. 46 miles total.

19 miles bike commuting today. Took the afternoon off so much less traffic on the urban/suburban trip home than I am used to.

My buddy and I did a 22 mile "stay loose" ride today, as we were planning on an 84 miler round trip on the Longleaf Trace tomorrow.
That ride has been called off, so we'll do something different.
Today's ride was supposed to be at an E-Z pace, but it never seems to work out that way..........

To Walmart and back this morning encountering some pretty awesome Hurricane Matthew winds. Still going to attempt my October 200 miler tomorrow but with the winds continuing kicking up, the full distance could be in jeopardy. If things go as planned, first 100 miles will be done by 6:30AM, back to house for a shower, eat a bit and kit change then off to the LBS for their ride and then some.

Must call the hospital between 5 and 6 this afternoon to get Monday's surgery time for my right shoulder joint replacement operation. Finally after 20 years maybe no joint pain.

15 miles and my fastest time on that hilly, windy rural route, despite feeling miserable all day. Cluster headaches on and off all week, and one hit right in the middle of the ride. Motivated me to ride faster to get home before it got too bad. Fortunately my legs felt good.

All things considered, I'd rather be slower and not have that particular motivation.

56 miles on the Suncoast Trail from SR 54 to SR 50 and back. Rode with the Coast 2 Coast group getting some first timers and a few veterans ready for the long ride at the end of the month. Great ride and great weather, despite Hurricane Matthew passing by yesterday.

174.38 miles of the hoped for 200 miles done. A bit disappointed but the shoulder pain was just too much. Never made the phone call to the hospital yesterday for time to arrive so I can have this troublesome shoulder replaced, they called me and 5AM I am to be there. Maybe first in and first out.

No ride for me. Cleaning up from Matthew. And with all the trash that was left behind, the roads and trail where I ride are not conducive to bikes. Guess I will have to wait until next weekend.

An abbreviated ride on Saturday...only 10.9 miles as I broke a spoke on the front wheel!
I have logged many, many miles on radially spoked 24 spoke wheelw without a problem,
but broke this one at the nipple.........and they were properly and evenly tensioned.
We were riding with a new member so I was sorry to have to cut the ride short.

Back at the park today. The west parking lot is still closed due to the flooding so everyone was at the east parking lot and the place was packed. Met my buddies Steve and Lou and started out for a nice 40-50 mile ride. Between the flooding, the overcrowded park and the return of an unexplained squeak that I thought I got rid of yesterday, I ended up with a short, 34 mile ride that wasn't very fast. Checked out the bike when I got home and hopefully I found where it's coming from. Will find out on tomorrow's ride.

28 tandem miles this afternoon. My stoker and I agreed the weather is perfect today - mid-60's, sunny.
