A bit cold this weekend - we've been spoiled by unseasonably warm temps recently. Breezy in the 30's this afternoon - only rode 5 miles. One mile on my blue steel V3 to confirm that it's ready for service as my commuter bike after putting on a new cassette yesterday (old cassette didn't get along with new chain), followed by 4 miles on the ti V3. I'm turning into a long wheelbase kind of guy, except for the tandem, which, by golly, also has a long wheelbase.
Hope to bike to work this week if weather cooperates. Haven't done that since the end of November.

Plowed 14 miles through some invisible hills. Occasionally it was at my back so there were a few moments of respite. Mostly steady 20 mph with 30+ mph gusts from the north while I was riding mostly west/east. Still a pleasant ride and a break in the weather.

Sambo and I got out for 22 miles yesterday. We kept it short and the pace light as he had not ridden in 2 weeks.
Felt pretty good while riding; even better when we were done! (Funny how that works....)

Okay ctpres, let's pretend I'm a dummy (yeah, like that's hard to do) - what is a sub ET & RT?

The morning air is still quite cool (low to mid 40s) but a nice sunny 18.1 mile (29.1k), 1,050 calories burned, Sunday ride. Probably should have stayed out for more (but I'm hungry).

Easy - ET is Elapsed time for ride. All stopped/resting time is included. RT is ride/moving time only and any time spent stopped is not. RT is just a small concession for old age.

Hoped to do 60 miles this morning but only managed to get in 44 miles before the skies darkened. Too bad because there was hardly any wind for most of the ride.

Interesting question to ponder:
If I am April's weight x 2,

Am I April x 4, or, am I April² ???

Just don't be April's fool.

Math is not my strong point. Could we just say "you're old"?
(Clever question btw)

19 miles (30.6k) with the Kiwanis Coffee Riders (first group ride of the year). More hills than my usual route but it felt good to ride with someone else. The air is still quite cool but a nice day overall.

Shorter when wind is at one's back and longer when riding into the wind.

Today I rode a very long, i.e.-WINDY, 40 miles. Felt like I rode 75 miles. The final 5 miles back home were into the wind.

20.7 miles (33.3k), cool morning, sunshine, and the city finally cleared the wheel stopping pile of sand from beneath the McCarran overpass after 4 weeks. The bike path is 98% clear.

[QUOTE=OldTryGuy;19441297]Short when wind is at one's back and longer when riding into the wind.

Just like the old high school math problem "Fred pedals into the wind at 10 mph for 20 miles. How fast does he need to pedal on the return trip (with tailwind) to average 15 mph?"

I've forgotten how to solve it, or is it?: (20 miles/10 mph +10 miles/x) = 40 miles/15 mph (solve for x):

Regardless, it's very windy here today and I'm hitting the gym cardio machines instead, with the hopes of bike friendlier riding weather tomorrow.

Across the state by Boca Grande and it is WINDY here also. 20+mph gusts to 30mph and it was a bear riding the 40 miles today.

20 miles Tuesday morning, a bit cool at first, in the 40s, but warmed up to mid-50s. Sunny, pleasant, not too windy.

Don't feel bad John_V, I went about 500 yards this morning, turned around and went home to put on another jacket and get the deep winter mittens. Nasty overcast day. But I still got in 20.8 miles (33.5k), even with low energy. Now I have to go deal with the DMV (ugh) because someone stole my rear license plate off my car. I drove it only 1,701 miles last year. I put 5,365 miles on the bikes.

You folks, like 20 is a stroll to the mailbox and back, geesh. I rode the heck out of 19.23 and was high as a kite driving home afterwards. LOVE it (I still think I'm a newbie)

Peace o/

No better today, in fact it was worse. Swirling 12-14mph winds and cold afternoon temps made for the most uncomfortable ride of the new season. Good thing I had my windbreaker. Managed to get in 33mi, the last 7 in pretty stiff headwinds.

Unfortunately I think this pattern's going to be with us for a while.
