40 miles this morning. 20 with Steve and 20 solo miles. West end of the park is still closed during the weekdays while they clear underbrush. I'm not digging these increased number of laps around the loop to get the same number of miles I get when adding the subdivision that's inaccessible right now.

31 miles today on the greenway, pretty gusty winds knocked down my speed a little.

A beautiful but breezy afternoon for a ride, so I got out for a 20 miler with the Banker Boyz.
That translates to a more relaxed pace than normal, but, as it has been downright difficult to motivate
myself to get out and ride solo (my usual riding buddy seems to have got himself a JOB,)
today's spin was better than sitting at home...........

18 miles Wednesday evening. Windy but beautiful weather and met some new folks who let me tag along and try a new-to-me route that I'll certainly ride again.

35 mile diagnostic ride this morning in preparation for Sunday's 168 mile Cross Florida by Spacecoast Freewheelers. Winds were at 15mph out of SSE and hoping for same or total easterly on Sunday. The route has been studied and studied some more so should I decide to solo the ride there should be no issues. I was hoping to start on my Giant and ride the first 100 miles on it, meet up with my wife for a bike swap to my refitted 1983 Paramount now with 5" rise upright bars, thumb shifters, alpine gearing, bar extenders for an aero position with all modifications coming in at 30 pounds worth of road racing frame bike but will most likely stick with the Paramount from the beginning. Thinking about the great dinner and deserts waiting after the finish.

9 miles of hill climb repeats around the neighborhood to stretch out some leg cramps. Not fast but it seemed to help.

Rain wind and horizontal snow yesterday. Sunshine and cold wind today for 21 miles (33.8k). It might be spring here eventually. Tomorrow should be nicer.

15 miles on the ebike yesterday with the bike shop's morning "Get Ready for Spring" ride. I was going to take my road bike, but while pumping up the back tire the valve suddenly, and quite without warning, let all the air out of the tire. Major shock! So I pumped it again, and it again released all the air instantly. Darn!! So had to quick take the back wheel off and toss it in the car, grab the ebike (which thankfully I'd just taken off the trainer a few days back), pump the tires, and load that in the car and just made it to the ride with 0 seconds to spare. Glad I took the ebike - as it ended up I "helped" one tired rider (on a Craig's list bike that did NOT fit her and would slip gears and the chain would pop off - oh boy) up two hills towards the end - my hand in the small of her back so my bike could help propel her up the slope. Set all of us on the ride to giggling and laughing out loud, especially when she yelled out "OMG! I WANT ONE OF THESE!" (meaning an ebike). I felt so bad for her because her gearing was crap when she tried to downshift or upshift. It was a fun ride with fun companions and a cool, cloudy day. And by the time we got back to the shop the super nice repair guys had replaced my road bike's old inner tube with a new one.
, and the gal on the Craig's list bike was going to consign it and buy a new, fitted bike from the shop.
Then, as soon as I got home had to get changed quick, saddle up the horse, and cruise down the road at a 10mph trot (yeah, that is fast!) for 2 miles to meet with an endurance friend for a 9 mile ride up the (Blue Ridge) mountains. We chose a tough trail with really steep inclines (and declines), and had to bushwack a portion of untouched woodlands with thick brush and lots of windfall to find our way across the top of the mountain (we two old gals are pretty intrepid, on two good endurance horses, and didn't want to turn back. I mean, what's the fun in that?) Found our way back down the mountain onto familiar terrain and cruised at a 9mph trot back to her place, then I headed home. My GPS read 13 miles by the time I dismounted at my barn. By the time I finished taking care of my mare (washed, dressed, fed, and turned out to roll in the mud) and walked back in the house, it was 4pm. I still had to get my bike out of the car, but figured I was too tired and would do that later in the evening (which I did).
So I rode 28 miles yesterday all told. And the one Advil I took in the morning (for my knee) worked for a full 12 hours to keep my right knee very happy for the bike ride (thanks mostly to the ebike - bless that thing), and fairly quiet on the trail ride, (except for coming down one extremely steep section of the mountain where my feet were practically on my mare's shoulders - my knee wasn't happy with that).
My wheel is now back on the road bike (thanks to my sweet hubby!!!!), ready for tomorrow's bike ride.
OldTryGuy - have fun on your ride across Florida tomorrow. That sounds like a blast!

After this morning's rain and a trip to the grocery store, the wife and I did a 20 mile ride so she could get her 100 mile week before month's end.

This afternoon I did a century.....in my head. Honestly, the winds were simply BRUTAL, to the point where a mere 36 miles burned me more than a 100. I could have done more, but wanted to save some powder for tomorrow's 46 mile club ride, which starts bright and early....

Rode the Dean's Ride (Charity Event) for 65 miles with several of my friends. My buddy Steve ran into trouble at the 40 mile mark so I rode back with him at a really slow pace. He finished the ride, even though he was on the verge of bonking out big time.

Still in the 40°s at 9AM but a whole lot more bikes out now. Some brave souls were wearing bike shorts (I'm still in lined pants). Sunshine, the bike path is clear, 18.2 miles (29.3k), should have done more but still tired (and old).

44 miles with the Gainesville Cycling Club in eastern Alachua Co. to Melrose, Hawthorne and back. Went through a pretty significant brush fire which was like smoking a pack of cigarettes, and one really chopped up section of the ride. Otherwise a beautiful day and met some new friends.

Spent the morning with the WV bike club picking up litter from the (still fairly new) Rt 9 bike path and adjacent parking lots. Nice crowd of us out, all ready to get the path cleaned for spring use. It was lots of fun, great group of people, and we collected an entire truck bed of filled orange bags. Had my bike with me to ride afterwards, but the wind and the cloudy cold on the West Virginia side of the Blue Ridge quickly changed my mind. So...when I got back in VA I stopped at the head of the W&OD where the sun was shining and the birds singing and the breezes were on the calm side of light, and enjoyed a nice, relaxing "smell-the-flowers" ride of 10 miles on the trail. Then stopped at the grocery to pick up sushi for dinner for myself, and a t-bone steak for hubby who was home mulching the gardens.

First dry day in a while. And some sunshine, too. Got out for a 22 mile ride which included Fox Hill in Morgan County. Closest hill to my abode that is challenging - as usual with this climb, I was able to make it up but with some seriously heavy breathing. Planning on a club ride Sunday with stoker and tandem.

42 miles in gorgeous AM weather, breezy on the return. Spirited ride @ just under 20mph. Forgot the protein bars and felt slightly bonkish the last several miles.
Closing in on 1,300 miles for the two months since getting back on the bike, and feeling pretty good.....

Nice and easy, 40 mile, solo ride this morning. At mile 36, I lapped my wife and decided to ride in with her since I was just doing a fairly slow recovery ride.
