Woo-hoo! 40 degrees F today! Five miles yesterday when it was in the thirties and a whooping ten miles today. Averaged 25 mph.....................for a very small part of the ride today................Supposed to rain Sunday and at some point get cold and snowy again. Can't wait for Spring and Severe Thunderstorm Warnings.

What a great day for being outside and riding! It was low 50s when I rode into town for the Arbor Day festivities at the Greenway. I manned a booth for the bike club, handing out bike safety material and promoting our upcoming April Fools Ride. I took advantage of the opportunity to get the mayor to agree to read a proclamation at the start and to ride a bike for the first couple of miles.

The Casseroll proved its worthiness as a packhorse as I stuffed bike safety pamphlets and ride flyers and registration forms into the panniers along with some snacks and a ball cap. It was very nice to have an easy way to carry the extra layers of clothing I no longer needed for the ride home.

The temps had risen to the mid 60s by the time I headed home. It has been a long time since I was able to ride in shorts and short sleeves. I took a longer route home. When I got home, my son joined me for another 10 miles around the countryside near home. He has been so busy with his school band, chorus and theater that he has not had a chance to ride for months. When he came outside from a few hours of play practice he decided that it was time to dust off his bike and hit the road. I enjoyed having him ride with me and I especially liked being able to keep him behind me for the whole ride for a change. I know that won't last long if he starts riding more regularly.

Not quite summer here yet, 12 fahrenheit downtown and colder in the backwoods. Lots of snow yesterday so when I got my CX-bike back on the road today I took it down to the fjord for a few laps in the small forestpark there. I got a new compact crankset, chain and cassette. Bought the new 11-28 Ultegra and with the 34-50 crankset I think I have a nice wide range of gears.

A hazy pic from my ride today of the new Skijump in Holmenkollen (the whole arena will cost us over 300 million $, good thing we,re soaked in oil.):

61 miles today. I'm calling it my birthday ride since I'll be taking a recovery day on the 26th. There are 4 extra miles for anyone needing a couple more for their own birthday ride. No need to PM me, just take em.

Tagged along with Madame Pobble (on your left) and her 50+ Ladies posse this morning on their Tantalus Loop ride; 5 miles up, then 5 down. They're all smiling because they're on the descent side now

No but how many miles can I count for removing tons, (I really mean tons some ice 20 inches thick) of ice built up on the deck and driveway? I was expecting a team of scientists from National Geographic to show up to take ice cores. Took most of the day.

43 miles on roads wet from the melting snow. Took the cross bike because it has fenders. Either that bike is too heavy, or I am, but that ride really took it out of me on some of the hills.

Global Warming Rocks!

26 miles and even a few birds chirping as I rode down to the ocean. Have not missed at least a day's ride out on the road each month of this winter.

Quick 16 mile zip into town after putting a new stem on my new (to me) Trek 2300, getting the gears adjusted just right, and adding inline brakes. Everything is working perfectly.

My coach had me do a new roller workout today and I crashed three times! The bike and I are fine but the laminate flooring has a few scratches that need addressed before the wife sees them.

I think I had a negative attitude going into the workout. The workout was 20 minutes of 39x23 @ 120 rpm for a warmup. Then isolated leg drills in 39x23 for 50 reps each leg then, in the 53x19 gear 250 to 500 Off-The-Saddle pedal strokes for set #1. The second set was 39x21 for the ILD's then 250-500 OTS, then set #3, and then set #4. I could not do more than 100 Off The Saddle revolutions before I lost form and started bouncing the bike in the rollers, so I broke the 250 minimum count into three segments.

I've got to figure this out, it was supposed to be a recovery workout and I will be doing it again on Friday.

The sun was shining and there wasn't much of a wind, I had to get out for a ride. Everyone is getting anxious for spring. It's coming; in the states, we switch back to day light savings time on the 14th of March. Yippee.

February 23, yes, another beautiful day and I am lovin it. We are getting them one after another here now.
Temp in the low 70s when I left at 12 noon. Rode 29.41 miles. Wind was out of the North at 7 so no problem. Passed a young guy pushing a mt bike with a flat rear tire. Shot one CO2 into it to see if it would hold air it didn't. So I rode about 5 miles to the nearest bike shop and bought him a tube and took it back to him, helped him change it, and then went on my way. It was a beautiful Fl day. it just doesn't get any better than this......

29.41 (s)miles today
393.46 (s)miles this month
979.32 (s)miles this year
32 ride days TY vs 29 ride days LY
6520 miles needed to hit 2010 goal (7500 miles)

I decided that I didn't want to do my workout in the dark on wet roads and 30 degree temps tonight. Ended up riding 30 minutes on the rollers to warm up then spent 1:15 of mind numbing Z3 riding @ 95-105 cadence on the trainer.
