From there a stop at LBS to talk with owner about the 2018 Specialized Roubaix Expert my wife ordered for my 67th birthday today. Not available yet but should have it for Six Gap Hundred, 103 mile with 11,200' climbing as a good test ride. Hadn't planned on even riding today since my birthday ride was last Saturday's 202 miler and this past Saturday's ride was a lightning shortened 191 miler so today was just going to be an off day before a ride tomorrow. Wound up with 52 miles anyhooo.
Wow, I'm envious in a good way for you 😀, your wife sure loves you 💕. The Pro is now delayed until Nov/Dec because of Shimano Di2 changes, but I'm in no hurry. Six Gap will be an excellent test of this bike's vertical compliance, which I found to be outstanding. Did you get a delivery date from your LBS? Are you going with the lime green/yellow?

another 20 mile commute to and from work. Rained at home while I was at work but dry both directions of the ride.

22 miles Monday evening. Was supposed to be a casual leg stretching ride but somehow turned into hill interval training again. I need to leave the road bike home next time I want to take it easy. Good ride, though, not too hot as long as I was moving.

Didn't check on delivery time since the store was hopping and I didn't want to interfere. Color is RED, to be different from every bike I've had.

Yeah, i know how that happens I told myself the same thing yesterday, then it's "well, lets just try this hill".
If I want to relax I have to go out on a MUP to reduce temptation.

Didn't post yesterday's ride but I finally got back in the saddle and did a nice 40 mile solo ride. I promised my ophthalmologist that I wouldn't get my heart rate over 130 until Friday.

Today's ride was almost identical to yesterday's ride, stat wise. Rode 25 miles with my buddy and did 15 miles solo.

Got out at 3:35AM on Paramount after another 2 hours of sleep and rode 35 miles with buddy Bob. He had to get back to head off to work so that segment had to end. Got back out at 8:14AM and put another 66 miles in but this time on the Giant. Stopped at Wendy's for a Frosty and Sr. drink and treated Tall Tom

20 mile ride in humid weather (for N. Illinois) with light winds for a change. I rode in gearing that was 14% or 28% higher than I've been using with no bad side effects. Cadence took a slight hit, but average speed went up.

I'm still pretty slow, though. My guess is that I've been passed by about 100 serious cyclists (defined by wearing bike shorts), and I've passed only 1 this year. Not that I'm competitive or anything....

At my age, I'm happy to be riding at all, and I'm on track to meet my goals for the year - 74 km by 7/31 (age+1, with a July birthday ) and 1,000 miles by September 30, and that's with 2 weeks off for a non-cycling vacation.

Thanks, Man. That is good news indeed. I was wondering if I'd have 2-3 months of rehab. We'll see.

24.5 miles (39.4k) after spending 45 mins trying to install a bike speedometer on friend's bike. Broke 4 small zip ties as I was trying to tighten them so there is only one holding on the mount for now. The magnet (from a pile) had to go on at an angle since it's not for bladed spokes but it's working.

17.2 mi, but who's counting? 😁 Very humid here as well, 70% as a matter of fact. I'm not fast either, just glad to be out there and able to ride.

55 Miles, very warm day with lots of climbing. Low humidity here in the high desert.

Went out to do my normal 40 miles this morning but ended up with only 25. I probably should have waited but I decided to up the speed today. After several sections of the first lap at 20-21 mph, I started feeling some pressure in the operated eye. Slowed it down, got to the parking lot and called it a day. Not taking any chances.

26.7 miles (43.0k). Perfect riding day, 68° to start, no wind. Really lovin' this Roubaix Pro, electric shift, and Turbo Pro tires. Now all I have to do is pay for it (I don't need money, I have plastic).

40 nice, crisp miles in hot, humid weather. Felt good to get up a decent stride and cadence at reasonable distance. My mileage has unfortunately dropped off as predicted; maybe I'll be able to make up a bit in the next few months. Jumping in the salt pool just now.

My wife and I rode our bicycles 15.44 miles. Averaged 12.1 mph. It was a sunny day and beautiful ride. I record my rides and post them online.

Late start Wednesday evening so I rode 17 miles and concentrated on hill intervals with the road bike. Worked on trying to transition smoothly from standing to climb the first part of the hills, then shifting to spin the rest. Tough on an old school road bike with downtube shifters. I tried switching the shifters from indexed to friction. Different but not better, so I'll stick with indexed.

Supposedly scored a KOM on a 1 mile flat loop by a few nths of a second but I'm skeptical -- I had GPS sync errors. My second KOM on very lightly traveled segments without competition from the local seriously fast riders, so it's more amusing than impressive. My first KOM lasted only a day before another local fellow who's a little faster than I managed to snag it. Good incentive to keep trying, although I'm not really worried about it.

A one hour ride for me today. I got about half way into it and wasn't feeling well because of the brutal heat when an ambulance passed me with sirens blaring. That reminded me why I started riding again, I was in the fast lane towards a heart attack and might just need that ambulance. Needless to say I went ahead and finished my planned ride even though I stopped for a break and laid under a shade tree for a few minutes.

A good 40 mile solo ride today. Pushed it once again, but not as hard as yesterday, to see if my operated eye would have some increased pressure, as it did yesterday, and it didn't. Very happy with that. If I don't get rained out tomorrow, I'll push just a slight bit harder.

Planned a 3AM departure time but didn't make it until 3:25AM. Clipped in and didn't unclip until 50 miles later. Humidity was so high I jumped in my pool with kit on just to dry it out. Grabbed a bite to eat, fresh kit, bike change from Paramount to Giant and back out for another 55 miles.

25.5 miles (41.0k). Dusted the Lil' Tarmac off, haven't ridden it since the 1st. Riding several days a week with Melissa, she's doing great. Talked her into looking for a new bike, her Terry is 27 years old and heavy. She may have found a newer Dolce w/disc brakes (about 6 lbs lighter). Another perfect riding day.

A 30 mile post-work ride in very humid conditions. The air was so heavy, it was almost as bad as the invisible hills. Black clouds everywhere, and it felt like it could let loose at any time, so I cut it a bit short.

Like OldTryGuy, I jumped in the pool to dry off

57 miles on a 91°F day, was a lot cooler the cooler when I got close to the mountains. Drank about a gallon of water. 52-11 without shifting for 8 miles coming back.

Finally got my beloved '85 Fuji Del Rey out for a nice (but hot) 25 mile ride, in the suburbs west of Richmond, VA. I left my house, and rode along River Rd, out past the 288 expressway, turned and rode up through the big business complex called West Creek Pkwy, turned around where it comes back out on Patterson Ave (route 6) and rode all the way back home.

25 miles in 1hr 33min for an avg of 16 mph. Not too bad... I wanted to see if getting more of a breeze from a faster pace would help, but it didn't. I was completely soaked by the time I got back home.

The map layout from MapMyRide

Stopped along Tuckahoe Creek on River Rd.

Turned around and took a photo looking south along Tuckahoe Creek.

...and lastly, I stopped in the shade in West Creek Pkwy right near the 288 expressway overpass.
