Some days our schedules work out that I can share part of the commute with one of the kids. That's the best part of the day for me.

26.6 miles (42.8k), rear derailleur adjusted. The simplest method is usually the best one (duh). As we get older we get dumber, this wasn't in the brochure!

Evacuated to Tennessee for Hurricane Irma with my daughter's family and son in laws parents - 3 cars, 10 people and 6 dogs. Closest hotels we could find that had 3 vacant rooms and took dogs was in Knoxville. Not a fun drive and experience to Knoxville and an even worse drive and experience on the return trip with thousands of people returning to Florida on two North South interstates.

Had we known that Irma was going to lose strength and become a CAT 2 when it hit Tampa, we would have stayed. No damage to any of the house, no fallen trees and we didn't lose electricity throughout the storm (per our neighbor who stayed). Lots of small branches and plenty of moss from the trees in our yard and on the roof but that's about it.

The next hurricane that comes our way can hover over my house for a month if it wants to. I'm not doing this again! This was my first and absolute last time I'll evacuate for a hurricane. I'll stay in a shelter with the rest of the old farts before I evacuate and leave the state.

Out this evening. Enjoyed a nice 15 mile. A few hills, working on my cardio. Passed a few farms....got very mucky. Not so nice.

Very enjoyable ride, though.

Hear, hear! We stayed put and didn't fare too badly, and my coworker had a case of bourbon if things got really tough! I honestly felt bad for those caught in the parking lot that I-75 became, but it looked as though Tampa was gonna get clobbered until the last moment.

Oh, and I managed a few nice rides since Irma. 37 tonight in gorgeous weather on nice, cleared back roads. We got power back, so off to VA tomorrow for the Rough Ride on Sat. Supposed to be sunny, fall VA weather! Hope my legs survive it!

57 Miles It was very clear Sunday and Monday I rode both days, Tuesday the smoke was as bad as it's ever been. But today was pretty clear, just a little smoke. Cool too only 77°

You're lucky! If I had a place in VA, I would have gone there days before Irma hit Florida and would stay there for a couple of weeks until the mad rush to get home cleared up and the fuel situation was back to normal. 19 hours to travel 700 miles is just a miserable experience that I wouldn't wish on anyone, especially when traveling with four adults and two dogs. The only redemption we had was the phone apps my daughter and I were using to get traffic information and to find gas stations that still had gas. South of Atlanta, many of the gas stations still open had police officers at the station because of fights that were breaking out at gas pumps. My daughter had friends that left the night before us and stopped at the rest station on I-75, south of Gainesville, and told her that there several fights and one stabbing that resulted from people trying to steal gas containers off of cars that were carrying them. Good thing we didn't stop there because one of the cars in our group had six of them. It was a complete zoo and I'm glad we topped off at every stop to avoid the gas shortage that Florida had. We entered the state on a full tank and ended up with enough gas for another 100 miles when we got home. Good thing I filled up the pickup before we left because gas stations in this area are still out of gas.

Doohickie, love the shadow photo.

24.4 miles (39.3k). Still fiddling with the derailleur adjustment. Think I got it but there is still a strange ticking at top right crank ???
Long pants, lined jersey, but had to stop and shed some clothes before the end of the ride. The weather could stay this way throughout the winter, but alas, it's gonna get colder.

Went on a recovery ride today after some very hard yardwork. Started to feel very good at the end of the ride. Might ride to Lake Michigan tomorrow after a good 16.6 mi today.

Hit with a tractor tire? Tell us more.

My Son is a workout beast. He is the one who introduced me to tractor tire workouts.

12.5 miles today, followed by a 14 minute HIIT tractor tire workout.

Did my first Post Irma ride today. Doesn't look as if Flatwoods is going to be open anytime soon due to damage and flooding in the park. And to make matters worse, the road to the main parking lot is also closed due to downed trees, downed communication lines and flooding in several places. Created a ride on RWGPS and set out to explore any damage Irma did in these neighborhood. Still lots of debris on the roads. Much has been placed in piles awaiting pickup but they're in the bike lane in many places. Lots of cleanup going on and riding to the sound of nail guns was also different. All in all it was a good but slow 52 mile ride with my buddy Frankie.

I feel for all you Florida Riders. Had the same situation here early part of the year from the heavy rains and wind, altho I'm sure the hurricane winds were much worse.

21.3 miles (31.2k). Feeling low energy and much cooler (almost cold) temps and increasing wind doesn't help. Increasing age makes a difference too (damn!).

12 miles this evening after work.

PaddleFoot 09-16-17 05:51 AM

Early morning post for yesterday: 12 miles on the MUP after more yard work. Diet and fitness are starting to come around. Feeling great on the bike and gut is shrinking. Did my first very simple intervals. I did a single 'one on/one off' spin drill and one minute of stand up riding. Nothing anaerobic yet.
