40 very windy solo miles with gusts in the 20+ mph range at the start of the ride. Most of the wind was crosswinds and headwinds but there were some short parts that were tailwinds and I definitely made the most of them. I guess our windy season has officially started and will last through April or May. I have a group ride tomorrow that has 8 miles of the route on the beach. Sure hope we get a tailwind for that section.

got back on the bike last night. man, it gets dark early now. wasn't long ago I could do the 1st half of a ~20ish mile ride w/o lights. now I use them almost right from the start. wonder what the date will be that the 2nd half doesn't need a light. anyway, I'm starting to like the spookiness

posted this in the southeast thread by mistake! weird there are 2 threads w the same name!

Another 19 mile commute today. Had to leave an hour earlier than usual to get to a meeting so it was dark most of the way in. Hardly ever ride in the dark of late and am glad that even modest headlights like my Cateye Volt 200 are so much brighter than what was available not so many years ago.

Met lots of familiar faces this AM at the Santa Fe Century in Gainesville. Plenty of folks from Orlando, I'd say 300+ total riders. Ended up doing the 70 mile course due to time restrictions. The first 30 were with a large group, most of which turned left at the 100 mile split. The remaining ride was very windy, in your face and blustery. Kind of unpleasant, but needed to get to the airport, so I powered through to the end, finishing in 3:48 with 2 stops. It is a pretty ride.....

To the anti Di2 crowd, I missed ZERO shifts . Feel strong, only regret is I couldn't do the full century.

Did the last, new rider, C2C training/meet & greet ride before next weekend's real deal. It's a shame that none of the new riders decided to show up for the 52 mile ride. It was nice and breezy at the start of the ride and downright windy about half way through. It really kicked our butts on the last 10 miles. Some in the group were really struggling with the gusts.

It's been really windy in FL the past several weeks. I hope this is not the beginning of a loooong season of these conditions. Great for conditioning, but not enjoyable at all 🙁

25.1 miles (40.3k). Triple layers in the AM (40°) and thinsulate mittens, but sunny and no wind. Took the trusty ol' Aluminum Allez out today. Love the bike but man what a difference from the Roubaix Expert and Roubaix Pro!
I've surpassed last year's total of 5,365.2 miles (8,634.5k), should be able to surpass the 5,800 mile goal by Nov 19 since I'm having shoulder replacement surgery on the 20th. I wanted a total body replacement but they said we're not there yet . Won't be able to ride again for 2-3 months.

This morning I got in a 2 hour and 50 minute ride. After riding around town for the first hour I decided to head down to another town south of me. I headed that way because of the southeasterly winds and gusts. Up and down those hills was a challenge against the wind, but what fun it was on the rebound!

Yeah, same here in the MidSouth. We have had a lot of gusty, windy days here too lately. The remnants of 3 hurricanes blowing through caused some of it in the last couple months.

Coney Island! It was a glorious Autumn day today. Round trip is 44 miles from where I live in Manhattan. Downtown through Central Park and Broadway, over the Williamsburg Bridge, down to Prospect Park, then Ocean Avenue south (the first bike path in America, I've heard) to the boardwalk. Back via the Bay Shore Parkway path, over the Manhattan Bridge and crosstown to 8th Avenue back home. Felt great!

20 mph wind out of the south Saturday so I went out to snag some personal bests on northbound routes. Hey, I ain't proud or fast. Even the fastest local riders take advantage of wind assist, including a couple of local pros. So I'm still behind them, doggone it. I'm faster, but haven't improved my ranking at all because we all had the same clever idea.

About 40 miles, although only 30 recorded -- Cyclemeter, Strava and other GPS apps kept quitting. I finally reset my iPhone and had to leave Cyclemeter running on continuous display so it wouldn't quit. Sucks the battery faster but I had a backup USB battery.

Winds at 10mph with the temperature a cool-ish 73F at 3:55AM for the start of my 31 mile segment of today's 103 miles. Used the Paramount since the upright bars and wide seat provides relaxed early morning riding. Once completed I was back home for a shower, kit change, some breakfast and prepping my new 2018 Specialized Roubaix Expert. Picked up the bike Wednesday and rode 130 miles on Thursday to break it in. Changed the seat to an ISM PR 3.0 and added the aero bars.

Left the house on the Expert heading to the LBS for today's legs burner. Said "later" to the group at about 10 miles into the ride since the speed had worked its way up to low 30's. Did my thing and was back at the house with 103 miles total. Wind had picked up to 15mph+ and gusts over 20mph.

Sitting at 480.3 miles for the week so 19.7 tomorrow "early" to close out with 500 miles.

18 miles. Did a personal best of 14.1 mph average speed. Top speed (although not for very long) 25.5 mph, all on my '84 Peugeot PH10. And yes, I am the original purchaser.
Ascherer, NICE ride. Man I love C&V.

Rained Out! No ride for me today since it's been precipitating, and I don't like to ride on wet roads. Glad I got in almost 3 hours yesterday.

Enjoyed the photos ascherer!

After a day off for a really nice Wedding, I rode a quick 9 miles before the rain started coming down. Felt great. Headwind didn't seem to faze me at all today.

I'm hoping it doesn't last as long as it did last year. We had strong winds all the way into May of this year. My riders weren't very pretty on some of those days.

An LBS, across the street from Flatwoods' west parking lot, had a slow paced Sunday Brunch Ride this morning. It was a 25 mile ride at a 13-15 mph pace. I decided to park in the east parking lot and ride to the shop at a nice clip, do the ride and then come back to the van at a nice clip. Well, I managed the first two but coming back to the van at a nice clip was dampened by some very strong wind gusts. I ended up with 40 miles and a nice time on the bike ride.

25.3 miles (40.7k). Rode to downtown Reno and back, found an alternate route from the horrible bike path that starts at the Reno city line (from Sparks). Cold to start but lotza sunshine and warmed up to the low 60s quickly.

Nice 25 miles in the mountains, plenty of hill climbs. Much needed rain moving in, hopefully won't disrupt tomorrow's planned ride.

Great weather today. 32 knot wind gusts. Better for sailing than 15 miles in the hills.
