Went out last night after dinner and it took 18 miles for my legs to start working.
Kept going but only totaled 26 miles before packing it in. Managed 506 miles last week with the 26 miles yesterday.
Went out this morning on the 2018 Roubaix Expert for a VERY WINDY 42 miles. After dinner I will head back out for 25 to 35 additional miles.
Giving some serious thought to a 2020 Trans Am Bike Race attempt. Makes more sense at my age than RAAM since it's an "at your pace" event. BOSS LADY has already given me her approval so a "future ride" has to be put on the calendar.

38.6 miles (62.1k). The usual Monday morning Kiwanis Coffee Riders (wimps) said is was too cold to ride in the morning (46°) so I did 23.3 miles (37.5k) in the AM and met up with them for a 1:00 PM (67°) ride for 15.3 miles (24.6k). I'm pooped.

Yea 52 miles. My first ride since my birthday, I'm now 68. Only 27 miles till I break 5,000 miles for the year, will do that Wednesday. It was 65° not a cloud in the sky, clear view of the mountains. Shorts, short sleeved jersey and fingerless gloves. Went and did some hills and a new road I'd never been on before.

No ride yesterday. Had a very good 40 mile ride this morning in what looked to be a very nasty day. Mother Nature was nice to me and brought the sun out which made for a very good riding morning. Hopefully, it'll be this way again tomorrow.

Picture perfect fall mountain day after the rain and fog blew out of here this morning. Only logged about 25 miles again, taking it a bit slower than usual to enjoy the VA sights, sounds and smells of nature. Alone on the twisty mountain roads - I really felt blessed to have so much solitude and simply lose myself for a few hours.
After a few rides on the Giant, I'm more comfortable on a bike with greater stack, and 385mm is about my limit on reach.

20 mph north wind and my neck has been aching so I decided to go back to the flat bar hybrid for an easier ride. Every time I intended to take an easy ride on the road bike I end up pushing too hard. Cruised 23 miles around 14 mph, loafing up most hills and into the wind, then took advantage of the tail winds on the flip side. Beautiful clear evening, just a little cool but pleasant.

WOW!!! Back in from a quick 35 miler wearing arm warmers, long fingered gloves, newspaper under jersey and the temps only in the upper 60'sF. BIG change from the 90'sF but a very welcomed change. Will wait for the sun to come up and back out for at least 66 miles more.
WAY WINDY!!! for the second segment. 25 miles into the ride I really-REALLY wanted to pack it in but stayed with it. Managed 66 additional miles for 101 total. Tomorrow another century------I HOPE

23.2 miles (37.3k). No ride yesterday, wore myself out with that long double ride Monday. Back hurt like h*ll, I could barely stand. But today was nice (if a bit cold). I should make it close to 6,000 miles for the year before shoulder replacement surgery on Nov 20.

Wow did I get lucky. In Houston for a month plus and was worried about keeping my miles up. Parked RV right next to Bishop Fiorenza park. Can ride 5 mile paved loop around small lake with a hill climb, no traffic and few humans. Trail less than 200 feet from our front door. Have not explored but was told there is a connector to George Bush park. So keeping fit in Houston will not be a problem. 15 miles today.

44 Miles, finally broke 5,000 miles at 5,017 for the year. Was a beautiful day, would have been warmer, but I rode into into the mountains where there's some snow. I don't think I'll hit 6,000 miles this year.

19 miles as a bike commuter today. Just cold enough this morning for my fingers to be persistently cold in spite of gloves that are usually good for mid-40's to 50's. Must've been a bit cooler than that.

Temps cooler than yesterday with 59F at 3:30AM for a chilly 40 miles. Heading back out now to try and add 60 more miles. Simply LOVE the 2018 Roubaix Expert.

Interesting ride this AM: My wife has been working with a cycling coach, so she now has very specific agendas nearly every time she gets on the bike. Today's was both short and specific: 45 minutes easy (zone 2) effort, with two or three short "spin-ups" -- fast high-cadence accelerations that only last long enough for your heartrate to start climbing, so they're only a few seconds long. I went out with her just to see what it was all about, and also because that was the only way I'd be able to squeeze any riding in today. It was fun. A bit too much motor vehicle traffic and stop lights to make it a genuinely satisfying ride, but hey, any ride is a good ride, right?

Got back out after a quick breakfast with the temperature still at 59F but sun was above the horizon so warming began. WIND was not as bad as yesterday so the miles flew by. 62 additional miles for 102 total today. Will try for 103 tomorrow AM.

Back in Florida cycling. Too funny, the temperature was 51 degrees this morning, and the locals had their down filled jackets on. A fun 48 mile ride with the sun warming things up nicely.

When I lived in NJ, I would winter ride below 32F and while snowing. Always kidded my mom, who lived in Jacksonville at the time, when she complained about the 60's temperatures. Moved to SW FL in 1986 and believe me, 60's are frostbite temps.

Training partner texted me at 6 to say he wasn't feeling well and was going back to sleep so I took a rambling, unstructured detour to work. 24 miles.

TRUE, blood thins out and below 70 is FREEZING TEMPS.

Last year I did a lot of (bicycle) rides where the day started out at 28°, but sun-shiny.
22.7 miles (36.7k). I found a Specialized 75 mm stem (28° rise) and put that on the older Roubaix for today's ride. I like it, however, the Lil' Tarmac handlebars are way too low (I get a sore neck every time I ride it) so I put it on there and it's just right, exactly the same height as the Roubaix Pro (my ultimate bike). Found another 75 mm stem for the Roubaix with a better color match. The 100 mm 6° rise stem is just a little too much reach for me. Ha, I'm spending money like I had some.
