Cold and very windy today, but I was very comfortable. Did 19 miles on the new bike and I just love it. Forgot to take a picture.

Went to the local park, lapped it, and back. Am doing the ol' saddle-go-round on the Raleigh.

19.2 miles (30.9k) on the '06 Tarmac SL (feels great since I changed to a 75 mm stem 28° rise).
Went to ride the Roubaix Pro and the rear tire was flat–again, after all that tire/tube repair work yesterday. The Bicycle Gods are conspiring against me (or maybe it's 'em Rooskies).

Haven't posted in a few days so I'm catching things up.

Wed - Did my usual 40 mile ride but it was solo. Great weather on this ride.

Fri - Left Tampa for the ride to the west coast and rode 62 miles from Ormond Beach to Sanford on day 1 of the Florida Coast 2 Coast ride. Didn't get much sleep the night before so it was a pretty tough ride. Had a tube failure that blew out at the base of the valve stem about 13 miles into the ride. It was my second flat while riding on a public road/highway in 6 years. I almost didn't know what to do.

Sat - Rode 85 miles from Sanford to Ridge Manor on day 2 of the C2C ride. It was an awesome day for a bike ride and I managed to get plenty of sleep for this one.

Sun - Rode 83 miles from Ridge Manor to Tarpon Springs on day 3 of the C2C ride. Started with temps in the low 60s and 17 mph winds and gusts up to 27 mph that lasted all day. Not a fun day of riding. The wind gusts coming into Tarpon Springs' Fred Howard Park were reported at 36 mph. I was wiped out which is the reason for no ride today.

18+ some miles on the trainer - BORING! But I am gone to keep my miles up during this round second of chemo. With a little more than a year and a half to get ready for my 80th century, I figure every mile helps. Best news is oldest grandson just announced that he is gone to ride with me 5/19. Greenhorn as far as bikes go but very trainable and in decent shape to start. So now we have a team of two.

Kudos John for riding on Sunday. It was one of the only times I can remember setting out for a bike ride and simply turning around after 500 yards. Conditions on Sunday were both inhumane and downright dangerous.

21 miles today as a Bike Commuter. Mid-30's this morning and low 40's on the way home. Thankfully, rained only while I was at work.

Got out at 12:15AM for 62 miles with temperature at a freezing 54F for this transplanted Jersey rider. Clear star studded sky with a radiant moon helping to brighten the roads. Almost no cars out to share the roads with and those that were out passed me with plenty of room to spare. Got to warm up, eat a bit and get back out for some additional mileage.

Has to beautiful seeing the night sky while riding...

I did 17.6 of the coldest miles for me yet. Overall I was warm, but I thought about wearing another layer beforehand and it would have helped with the wind chill, which was below freezing.

Here is a picture of my new Kona Wheelhouse. Not the best pic, but it was cold! I have no complaints at all about the bike and I just love the smooth steel ride. It has an under-stated look that I like.

Normally, I wouldn't consider a ride with those conditions facing me. However, being 80 miles away from your destination in a group of 60 riders, you just don't have a choice. There was just no way I would call my wife to come pick me up. I can say that it was probably the hardest ride day I can remember having.

Was going to do a recovery ride yesterday, with a friend, after this past weekend's C2C ride. He's down here visiting and was going to rent a trike so he could ride this week. That fell through, so no ride yesterday. My legs appreciated that.

Met my friend Frank C this morning in 44º temperatures (very cold for us) and set out for a recovery ride. As typical Florida mornings go, we got all bundled up for the cold ride and got overheated around an hour later in the 74º temperature. Still had a very nice 40 mile ride.

17.1 miles (27.5k). Sat & gabbed at Rock Park too long with a bike buddy, hadda cut the ride a little short (besides, I'm low energy and tired). Installed a 75 mm stem (12° rise) on the Roubaix Expert, much better for my reach.
Got ½ mile from my apartment this morning, turned around and went back to put on warmer clothes, 40°, but mostly sunny. Looks like I might fall short of 6,000 miles in the next 19 days. Rain Sat & Mon.

Me too. Things were looking so good a month ago, but two long trips to deal with my elderly parents have curtailed my riding significantly, and the time change might just be the death knell for 6k. Hey, I'm proud of the riding I did do this year. I might get a strong December, but it's not an obsession of mine as I'll be in the high 5's for certain.

This biking year has been fabulous, coming off a broken pelvis in February, to active GCC club rides, riding centuries and strong (for me) events, to chatting with the over 50 crowd on this forum.

My only change next year will be to put John V in charge of wind control

Lucky you! The night skies in FL have been unusually clear, dry and calm. If you enjoy astronomy, go to ClearDarkSky.com and see how good it's been! You have the brilliant blue-star studded winter constellations to guide you..

51 Miles today. Weather was blue skies with 62° temps. Took my warm gloves, leg and arm warmers off 1/2 way through the ride.
It's going to be in the very low 40°s the rest of the week, maybe some snow showers early Friday and Sunday.

Thanks for the link Waxing Gibbous 96% tomorrow so low headlight levels. Sat. will be FULL and thinking about an all nighter 200 miler.

Second part of yesterday's ride was 70 miles for 132 total. Bike has been prepped for tomorrow's ride, again heading out after midnight. Want to get in 150 miles with first 75 night-time solo then meeting a group and doing some wheel sucking.

In mid Nov 2014 I took a bad spill on the Allez Sport (on concrete, of course) and had a double fracture of my right pelvis. While recouping I investigated recumbent trikes and bought one. put over 1,800 miles on it in 2015. Now I'm trying to sell it since I'm back into (5) bikes.

22.8 miles (36.7k). Babying the old Turbo Pro tires on the Roubaix for the 18 days I have left to ride. Pretty cold this AM, but sunshine. Looks like rain Sat, rain/snow Mon. I picked the right time to have surgery (wanted them to put in a new brain but they said no).

40 miles in beautiful weather, almost too nice! Today I downloaded two maps for the upcoming Horrible Hundred in Clermont, which is just two weeks away. I think it's about 4,500 feet of climbing on the 70 mike loop. If I'd been able to maintain my August and September pace, 100 would be on my radar, but I'm not sure just now. Lots of riders, and a surprising contingent from Gatorland.

Another cold, but slightly less windy ride. Cold enough that I did not plan on going far, but I ended up with 23.2 miles. I saw something I'll always remember: I was riding next to a fence and a warbler took off in front of my bike, flying right there in front of my eyes. They beat their wings in spurts, so up and down he would go in front of me, quite close. After a bit, I veered to the left and he zoomed away. It's supposed to get rainy, so maybe a day or two off.

Got out of the house at 5:45AM. 43°F, pitch black. Rode 30 miles, almost all of it in the dark. Still got to work on time. Invigorating.

Was told no riding for little bit. Sucking in the cold wind (29 degrees ) caused a sinus infection. so time to bust out the indoor roller trainer!!!

Temp warmed up from the low 50s to low 80s by this afternoon. Rode 32 miles. 14 mph south wind, good time to tackle some north-south loops for the harder workout on one half and wind assist on the other half.

Very crampy recently, including hips after that ride, so I walked a couple of miles to loosen up. Seemed to help.
