30 miles Friday including 7 miles to and from physical therapy. Mostly loafing around on the hybrid, just enjoying the spring weather.
23 miles Saturday, workout on the road bike and aero bar practice.

Temps for me have been in the moderate 50s and 60s, and it feels like a free 20% power bonus versus cold weather. It could be a lot of things, but whatever, I'll take it and enjoy it while I can, since Summer Is Coming.

Today's my second day of rest after a three-day block of 2x-daily exercise. I rode each day and also did something else as a warm-up or chaser. Walk-with-a-heavy-backpack, or laps-around-the-house-with-brick-wall-hopping-and-hanging-crunches-from-the-maple, or carry-a-heavy-rock-up-hill-with-dead-lifts. It feels great to exercise my whole body, although my legs still feel used up.

I got in 100 minutes on a gorgeous Spring day.
It is the longest ride so far on my brand new Trek FX3.
I may consider swapping out the stock saddle with one of my Selle Anatomica.
I ordered some new pedals, but they won't arrive for another couple weeks.

Still Riding in the Basement
Not going to make the mistake I made last year when I put my bike in the outside storage shed and then could not keep in shape either in the basement or on the road because of the bad weather.
Putting in 40 - 60 minutes most days on the trainer. Have managed to keep the winter pounds off for the most part.

Went to the club's Pedalmentalist Easter Service today = 40 mile ride but lost track of a few turns and ended up with 46 miles. Moving average of 15mph which is my max for a longish ride in recent times. Beautiful Spring day today on Day 21 of #30daysofbiking .

Fifth ride of 2019, low 70s, sunny. My phone said 17.98 miles, but Strava says 18. I'm still high from the ride as I write this, more than 24 hours after I returned.

14.5 miles each way on my commute. Nice day for riding, although a little windy (15 to 20 MPH from the South). My commute is mainly East and West so not too bad.

2.5 hours this morning, 4:30am start time, a very comfortable 59F, big hills in the first half and a flat scenic (once the sun came up) return.
Doing the warm-up on hills in the 'hood continues to work, so I don't get the OMG-I-just-received-the-dose-of-radiation-that's-going-to-kill-me feeling when I hit the real hills.
Turns out a three day sequence takes three days to recover. Today was the first day I felt like riding, even though I was thinking about it every day. About the same as every-other-day riding, a 1:1 exercise-to-recovery ratio.

15 miles today, first half into a headwind. Couple of short inclines thrown in.
Got honked at by some kids on a moped! But they waved while passing.

Fell asleep on the couch about 9:15PM Monday. Woke up 2.5 hours later and decided to go for a ride. Charged the lights and iPod/speaker, prepared the '83 Hybridized Paramount, kitted up with extra jersey, arm/leg warmers, long fingered gloves, jacket but moving like old/cold molasses I didn't make it out until 1:33AM. Purposely I didn't pump up the tires so slow going for 52 miles under a Waning Gibbous Moon at 81% illumination. Back home for a kit change, bike change to the Propel, had a bite to eat and then out again at 8:15AM for round 2. Fortunately had Scotty, aka Ghost Rider, drag me along numerous times at his easy going 22+mph cruising speed and we finally stopped at my 101 mile mark. Bought some Subway sandwiches then we rode the 4 miles to his house where he made a STRONG French Press brew, we chilled and ate then off again for the 3 mile ride back home. GREAT DAY at 108 miles.

Not taken today, but the bike is still as it looks in the photo.
It has been a great spell of warm, sunny weather over the Easter break and I've been out on my bike several times. I was shocked to discover that I hadn't ridden my bike since August of last year! I was even more shocked to discover how unfit I have become. At 68, I'm supposed to be retired but keep getting called in to help out at work. I don't mind but it means with work and family/home commitments the bike remains locked away for too long. Over the Easter break I've managed four rides of around 20 miles each just to ease my legs, lungs and other bits (!) back into cycling mode.

Rainy day, just rode 6 miles to and from physical therapy. Dang neck and shoulder pain from last year's injury flared up again, so back in PT for several weeks.

Rained cats and rats much of the day today and especially late this afternoon. Gave up on any kind of ride until I went to the garage to tell the bikes.......and noticed it was not raining. So..............out for a massive 1.25 mile ride around the neighborhood on Day 25 of #30daysofbiking . Raining again when I returned.

Twenty seven miles today, little out and back through an area called Hidden Valley. Sixty five miles since Tuesday. Alas, nothing tomorrow as I'm skipping the shop ride to go with the family to an Earth Day event.
