Nice 35 mile ride this morning. A bit warm with some pretty nasty winds.

I did 86 miles today in Harriman Park, NY. That's a new long for me and I'm happy I was able to keep up my usual pace of 10 mph. It's not very fast but it's the best I can do up there with all the hills and my type bike. I'm also including in the time the breaks I needed, which were many. For one thing, I had to stop and exercise my feet a few times as there was pain in the balls of the feet. I guess it's from my spiky pedals and from standing a lot going up hills. Luckily, no lasting issues. I sure got a great- and really long- workout!

Got up at 5:30 to ride but it was way too foggy to ride safely. By the time it burned off I had to get ready for that nasty 3 letter word, JOB! So no ride today.
PS! Congrats to Hiller. 86 miles in our age group is always a good thing but on a hybrid that is amazing.

32 miles at the MUP this morning. I did 10, very slow miles with the wife on her first ride in 7 months and then finished up with a 22 mile solo ride. Nice day but very windy from the start to the end of the ride.

Lots of flat riding in those counties (I'm on the southside of Indy) with the occasional hill.

Today: A flat 22 miles of bike commuting.

What's MUP mean?

16 miles this AM before it got very hot. First ride with Shimano M520 pedals and Pearl Izumi X-Alps, having replaced quills, toeclips, and running shoes. Several stops to adjust saddle height and cleats. I'm not convinced yet, but I may become very happy I switched. Lubed the cleats with olive oil - got some PTFE lube this PM.

Thanks for the well wishes on my ride yesterday, guys.
Today, rode my bike around the neighborhood for a few hours, mostly doing errands and going to the park. Hot, summery day today which is just how I like it.

Today I logged rehab ride number 30, 23 miles in 63 mins on a stationary recumbent, a new pr. 8 weeks post broken hip. 5 weeks after buying the recumbent. Too many hours of food and cooking shows. I'd trade a lifetime of smelling cow manure for 5 minutes upright on a two wheeler.

A very late start ended up in a very nice 40 mile bike ride this morning that got me over the 6,000 mile, YTD mark. Shooting for 10K, but I think 8K is going to be a more realistic number, this late in the game.

Thanks, DnvrFox. 20.2 miles today, 10-11 mph. I could swear the last 8 miles were into the teeth of a gale from the SE. I'm definitely sliding towards the 'Why did I wait so long?' side WRT SPD pedals, but it's still early. I used PTFE lube today, and it's messier than olive oil.

Hey, philbob57, how are you liking the Pearl Izumi X-Alps? I recently got a pair myself (big sale at Nashbar) because of pains in the balls of my feet from using trail running shoes. The thicker and stiffer soles seems to be helping me. I haven't gone for the pedals, though.

Based on 2 rides of 15 & 20 miles, I'm liking the X-Alps. I'd have felt some pain with quill pedals, clips, straps, and Nike road shoes (without cleats) on these rides. It feels like the PSI is lower with the SPD pedals and cleats than with the quills and Nikes. The X-Alps' sizing is strange - I wear 44s, 45s, 10.5s in street shoes, but the X-Alps that feel like they fit best are 46s.

21 miles commuting to and from work today. A bit cool this morning and a bit warm this afternoon with favorable winds for the return trip.
