25 miles on Lakeshore Dr in Chicago. Gorgeous weather along the lake, but extremely crowded! Watch out for runners, dogs, kids, pretty girls, etc.

Rnted a nice Giant hybrid, slow ride (don't think I'll ever be a hybrid guy) but who cares? Pics of Hancock Tower and Portello's Hot Dogs, where I ate through every calorie burned on the voyage.

21.7 miles (34.9k) on the new(er) Tarmac. Took some new pictures with the new leather handlebar wrap since I've listed it (for sale) on BicycleBlueBook. With the recent purchase of the Roubaix Pro I have too many bikes (yeah, right, like there is such a thing). I feel a lot more comfortable on the Roubaix(s).

18.9 miles (30.4k). didn't get out until almost 10AM (woke up at 8). Pretty warm out today, high 100° (3PM).
Wasn't sure I'd be able to ride today, index finger of the left hand is pretty swollen. Prednisone to the rescue. I wrapped it with sticky (ace-type) bandage, elastic wrist brace, and took the new (to me) Roubaix. We are children of the modern age. I love these electric shifters (yeah, I'm spoiled).

Nice Sunday AM ride (20 mikes) along the Lakefront Trail, then south on N Clark Street towards 'the loop' of Chicago. On the return I passed by Wrigley Park and inquired about Cubs tickets, which were available, so I purchased ne and hot-pedaled it back to WheelFun Rentals to return the hybrid. Red line train from State/Lake to Addison (Wrigley) is only 15 minutes. Game was a blow out, Pirates scored 10 runs in the first.....

Just over 30 miles, Evanston-Highland Park (Il) - Evanston, after watching the end of the TdF' Stage 9.

I can't spin my highest gear even downhill, much less win a race. I wanted to count the number of people who passed me, but stopped at 15....

Had a good little ride today from the town of Glendora in the foothills of the San Gabriel mountains, up to The Mt. Baldy Lodge. We were in time to get Missy's wonderful cinnamon rolls; usually consumed with coffee but today was so hot we had Cokes instead.

43.3 miles out and back with 5,220 feet of climbing. Here it is on Strava:

https://www.strava.com/activities/1076005615

Started out cool but got hot quickly, eventually hitting 106 degrees. Thankfully we had some cloud cover on the 2nd big climb so not as bad as it could have been.

I'm having a lot of consternation about it lately with the upper 90 to 100F temps and low humidity. I had a case of heat exhaustion a few years ago and even with plenty of plain old WATER the other day I felt like worn leather.

27 solo miles midday today, including going up Foxhill road in Morgan Co. Short - not really - and steep - not terribly steep - but still got me breathing harder than I have for quite a while.

16 miles Sunday evening after the rain cooled things down. 78 degrees, 78% humidity, still felt soggy. Worked on some hill intervals.

My 2nd day of 25 miles in the morning after doing 20+ daily every day. Legs are getting stronger and have decided to start doing the same 25 mile ride and slowly work my way up to 30 per day. Did an additional 10 miles in the evening and legs still felt like I could do another 10 mile night ride. maybe tomorrow night.

Just missed a collision with a rabbit on the first leg of my a evening ride. Little bugger must jumped 5 feet vertical after I JUST missed colliding with him. That was CrAZY! After the shock I was laughing my damn fool head off.

Last week I did a 101 km ride with 1326 m vertical, including one nasty hill inaptly called "Joy Hill" which has bits at 12-15%. Managed to give myself tendonitis behind my knees and was quite sore after. Saturday was a washout with on-and-off rain (deluges is more like it) so no riding. Except that I tried riding my Marinoni Genius up and down my longish, curved downhill (towards the road) driveway between showers to see if the tendons had healed sufficiently to ride the next day (yesterday, Sunday). I thought they had and was feeling pleased with myself when the front wheel went out from under me at very low speed. I ended up on my left flank, with scrapes to the knee and elbow, but worse, with my ribs taking a blow from the handlebar. A few minor scratches on the left fork and left brifter as well

So yesterday I set out gingerly with my wife for a gentle mountain bike ride on the gravel roads from my house. It was pure torture as I felt every bump and was unable to breathe deeply on the hills, so after 15 km I gave up and went home. My wife decided to continue riding but I neglected to hand over the flat repair stuff... it was just going to be a short ride. Sure enough after stepping out (painfully) of the shower, a voice mail: "come and get me, I have a flat", about 15 km from the house. So out went our trusty (and nearly brand-new, less than 1000 km on the odometer; our previous one was bought back by VW because of the diesel scandal) VW sag-wagon. Clearly God was not keen on us riding yesterday. Dinner was VERY quiet, first for my failure to hand over the kit, and then my too-long response to pick her up...

Still somewhat sore today, having trouble finding a comfy position to sleep in, but managed a good night's sleep. Looking at the week's commitments and long-range forecast, it looks like Thursday will be the next ride.

Horrible season so far, miserable wet spring and summer isn't looking much better; over 600 km off last year's pace at the same time.

Yikes. Hang in there. Those rib injuries can take weeks to heal. They're rarely serious but they sure hurt. My last rib injury was from falling in February. I kept riding, every other day, but the most painful part was rolling over in bed and pulling myself up. A sturdy brass rail headboard helped. The first two weeks were miserable. Took about four weeks to fully heal.

Had to check on friend's house while he's gone for the summer so instead of driving I took the Paramount. After my inspection I detoured to wife's new car dealership to check the status of a warranty replacement new rear bumper. Never ordered so that took FOREVER. From there a stop at LBS to talk with owner about the 2018 Specialized Roubaix Expert my wife ordered for my 67th birthday today. Not available yet but should have it for Six Gap Hundred, 103 mile with 11,200' climbing as a good test ride. Hadn't planned on even riding today since my birthday ride was last Saturday's 202 miler and this past Saturday's ride was a lightning shortened 191 miler so today was just going to be an off day before a ride tomorrow. Wound up with 52 miles anyhooo.

Well I managed one of my training routes today with my wife, a 37.5 km out and back with a loop over a ridge at the end for 350 m vertical total. It wasn't too bad; I actually felt better on the bike than off. The only issue was going over railway tracks which really hurt, but I was able to breathe well enough to manage a 28.1 km/h average speed, my best so far this season.

I agree on rolling over and getting out of bed. It was hell...

Man! That looks like a great ride.

23.4 miles (37.7k). 78 yo trainee in tow (but experienced rider) so the ride was a little slow. Trying to bump her up to 15mph so by Aug she'll be able to outride her friends on the 50 milers. At my suggestion she manage to procure a lighter bike (by 6 lbs-Specialized Dolce) from a friend at Kiwanis Bikes. Mo bettah. Great riding day.

I did manage to get into the VA today for an MRI (without freaking out). Some good drugs helped . Right shoulder replacement possible in the near future - but NOT until after riding season.

October last year I had right shoulder total replacement with sling off less than 24 hours after op. and back on bike in 3 days after op. even though doc said 2 was fine. My shoulder had been an issue since the last century, , and ortho said after reading MRI the wear and bone on bone was beyond severe condition.

Good Luck
