Just not a good ride this morning. Weather forecast said 11 mph winds which is ok for me. I get to my trail and it's blowing 20 mph with gusts over. Did not even half the distance of what I usually ride and that was it for me. I was getting blown left and right and this was on my Winter road beater which is at least 25 lbs. Bummer.

Complete opposite of yesterday made for a good ride. Sunny, cool, no wind whatsoever. Could be my last ride of the week as rains return tomorrow.

A nice day, a bit breezy, but sunny and clear. 2x20' intervals at 100% FTP. Didn't think I'd be able to hit that target, but somehow did. Last 5 minutes of the second interval were pretty hard, but they're supposed to be, right?

10 miles Tuesday night, test ride after re-installing fatter, more comfy tires. For months I've tried skinny tires on the Univega hybrid but they either weren't as quick or as comfortable as Continental Speed Rides.

Today -Wind warnings on Lake Okeechobee again. Went for a ride anyhow - at least most of the time it was cross wind - tilting bike 5 or 6 degrees. 41 miles @ 13.2 mph

40 miles on a springy Friday night, including a third of that with the Critical Mass group. Overcast and windy but hard to complain about the pleasant temperature.

Did a really cool 16 mile ride (8 miles out 'n back) out to my LBS here in town. I had to extremely careful along Gayton Rd, Lauderdale, and especially Broad St. as traffic is whipping by at 45-50 mph, talking on cellphones, texting, Lord knows what... Cars will run you right off the road -or worse- turn you into a grease spot very quickly!
8 mile ride to my LBS: 32:45
Stopped in, chatted with them briefly, refilled my water bottle, etc...
8 mile ride back home: 35:30 (headwind the whole way).
Total time for 16 miles: 1 hr, 8 min.
My C&V '85 Fuji in front of the LBS.
A hilarious decal that I created in MS Word and taped it to the downtube by the Suntour shifters:

Last good ride before next Sunday's 1 Day Cross Florida 167 mile ride.
Wasn't a good start today, internal issues and legs just not right, but did manage to hook on to the LBS group at mile 8 and hung on for a whole 8 miles before dropping off. Winds picked up but kept on pedaling completing the 102 miles without touching the ground (un-clipping) until back in the garage. Kind of got lost in the COSMOS while listening to my tunes and just went with the flow. Pretty sure everyone would consider it to be a very boring ride, as most of mine are, but simply needed the miles.

A great ride last night, 70F from dusk into dark, gusts to 25mph, about two hours. Lots of hills, high speeds, up and down, all the good stuff. Having some light meant I could really let fly on the downhills. (The road edges aren't well marked and can be hard to make out in full darkness, even with bike lighting.) For some reason I was really on -- maybe because I warmed up on uphills in the neighborhood, meaning that that first onset of fatigue and its mental drag were behind me when I hit the real hills. Whatever -- that was the kind of ride that makes me want to do it again and again.

18 miles on a blustery Saturday, wind around 20-30 mph, temp in the 50s. Flattened out the downhills, increased the climbs. Didn't want to do it but we don't have many long climbs so a windy day is the next best thing for a workout.
What happened?

Sold a stereo had on Craigslist today so I had a good meal downtown and made it to the edge of town and back. Darla's chain wants to try and jump but I'm too tired to lift it and tighten the slack at the moment. And I'm taking it easy because I sorta ache and the fire rescue and ambulance trucks have been out and about all day...

Today did 76.7 miles over 15 MPH with a friend. Longest ride since fractured femur. Speed not what it was however been over two years since rode my age — and it seems to get harder each year.
Turning 74 in 10 days so very pleased to have ridden age.
Funny thing got stronger as day wore on. Not sure how or why but hard work does seem to payoff.

My best long ride ever - 77 mi at 14.1 no aches no pains. Just three more miles and I could have got my birthday ride eary. I felt like Superman the entire ride. 175 miles for the week - not bad for 79 year old IMO. Wanted to keep going for 100 but Mrs gets really worried and upset if I'm not home when I said I would be. Leaving sunny FL today headed for Houston and the land of SHORT rides with lots of cars.

I rode yesterday. I got off my 45 year old road bike for a change, and took the 2013 Fuji Absolute 2.1 out for what I planned to be an easy 10 mile spin. The weather was so nice, and knowing that I would have a tailwind on my return leg, I stretched it to 24 miles up and around Lewisville Lake. Every time I get on this bike, I wish I rode it more than I did.
And, because my wife and I both went to Texas Tech, our son attends there now, and Texas Tech advanced to the Final Four, I had to post the final picture... WreckEm Texas Tech!
