Saturday: 21 miles as the mentor for short route of our club's annual picnic ride. (L, M, S rides followed by picnic at a park.)
Today: 36 mile repeating club ride. Flat except for climbs over I-65. Started out windy and a bit wet and ended up just windy. Not nearly enough tailwind.

Walked this evening. With the breeze and the cooling, it feels like the first signs of fall. Of course, it's June.

Sunday morning I rode about three hours, starting pre-dawn to avoid traffic on two-lane farms roads with blind curves. Possibly my longest distance yet. Via surface streets, I made it to the trailhead at the far end of the trail system that the greenway feeds into. Some day I want to do a through hike of that trail end to end, parking the car at the close end, bicycling to the far end and leaving the bike there and hiking back. I guess I can do that now.

What breeze and What cooling ????

It's 81.3°F right now at 1:35AM and I'm heading out on the grocery grabber to Walmart for some food shopping. No breeze or cooling here.

Yep, sounds like the heat is still on down there.

I'll have mid-50s overnight, and that's very unusual.. I guess I'm 400 or 500 miles north of you, and low 70s is typical. jppe, MidSouthBiker and wait4me may be getting some of this weather system in a day or so.

YUP, I'm more SOUTH southeast having some warm/humid weather that just requires a change in mindset.

Almost 26 miles, low 80s, from Evanston to Highland Park, S or SE wind under 10 mph, almost all sunny - really enjoyable solo ride today. Over 330 miles os far this year, almost 100 more than last year on this date.

3 days camping and gravel riding in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom.

Day 1: 38 mile loop through farm country to Lake Willoughby.
Day 2: 42 mile meander on Weyerhaeuser Co. logging roads & in the Silvio Conti Nat’l Wildlife Refuge
Day 3: 40 mile rail trail out and back from Newport, VT to Ayers Cliff, Quebec.

This was the first 3 day stretch of nice weather we’ve had this season!

Was down in SoCal for the yearly move-out of my daughter. Got in a hot and muggy 17 miles Sunday evening with my buddy. Then Monday did our usual ride up and down the coast. Perfect weather in the 70's with a nice breeze. Nice break from their place which was 103 degrees.

Tues: 15 mile ride accompanying wife on first ride on her e-assist bike. Had trouble keeping up with her a few times. She will continue to be turbocharger/stoker on our tandem.
Today: 35 miles on a repeating M-W-F morning club ride. Attended mostly by older folks without jobs. Like me. 17 mph average first half of ride - kept up with the fast kids.

Repeated this ride Tuesday morning, except instead of circumnavigating the trail system I went out and back along one side. For me those were two very long rides and I felt pretty sick after this one. I went to bed early, wiped out, but the whole time I was trying to sleep I felt like I'd had too much caffeine or (I imagine) too much thyroid med. Tried hydrating. Tried eating. I didn't really feel well for two days. I put it down to ambition colliding with age and condition.

This morning, some HIIT work on hills. Dropped a book at the library (Robert Caro's "The Power Broker" - DNF because of length) and discovered there's now public outdoor exercise equipment behind it, so went through that once. 56F and heavenly leaving the house at 5:30AM.

Did the Friday version of the M-W-F ride today. About 1 mph slower today. kept up with the fast kids for first part of ride but not the return trip.

Started at 12:18AM today with the intention of completing a STRAVA ART ride. A 96% waxing Gibbous Moon helped illuminate the roads along with light winds and a bit lower temperature due to a heavy rain 6 hours earlier made for a very enjoyable ride. I'm always on edge when the ride is downloaded since one wrong off-on or on-off with the computer can destroy the entire picture. I added a few extra miles since I hadn't ridden in a week and the MOJO was flowing.

Total ride was 121.11 miles --- https://www.relive.cc/view/2451714693

The STRAVA ART amounted to 14.54 miles --- https://www.relive.cc/view/2451774101

hope the links work

Reps from Kona were scheduled to be at my LBS today with a bunch of demo bikes to try out. Event was scheduled to start at 10am. Got there after 11 but there was no sign of them. “Theoretically they’re here,” the shop owner said with a shrug. Went off on a 45 mile 4,400’ ride, checking out some national forest roads. By the time I got back to the bike shop the Kona reps were there but I was pretty much finished for the day.

Saturday - rained cats and rats off and on much of the day. No cycling, just a walk around neighborhood with spouse.
Today - 14 mile tandem ride with spouse/stoker.

Ten-day forecast contains ten days of thunderstorms. Some of those are scattered or isolated or AM-only, though, so I hope to squeeze some riding in.

maybe Friday if the rain isn't bad

Heading out in a few minutes for today's ride. Urban mountain biking today. That means I'm taking my mountain bike through the crappy, pot-hole-ridden streets of Kansas City to a couple of the midtown parks that have exceptionally steep grassy slopes where I ride the entire range of gears on my 2x10 26" mountain bike. Kansas City is finally waking up to the reality that there are people who ride bicycles here, but it's still culturally a war zone out in the streets. It's pretty hazardous, whether it's the pathetic infrastructure, or annoyed motorists who are also dodging potholes and new comers for sharing streets--BIRD scooters. I've had more grumpy motorists honk or yell at me this year than any of the past 35yrs in KC. I think the excessive pot holes and BIRD scooter riders have greatly added to the frustration of motorists in this community. BTW, I'm incredibly mindful of the laws and I am not one of those clowns on a bike who rides out in the middle of a lane, impeding traffic because the ordinances say that I must ride in the street. If you can't ride at the posted speed, better damn well get to the curb and yield right of way. Ironically, it's been at the curb when I've been honked at and yelled at this year. Hey, that's ok, we are slowly making progress here in the heartland. Time for my ride!

33 miles this morning on M-W-F repeating club ride mostly on country roads south of Indy. Riders mostly unemployed senior citizens like me except some/many of them are faster than me. I was able to keep up at 17mph average for the first 12 miles. Then, bye-bye. Averaged 16 for the ride, which is speedy by my standards. Very humid but no rain. Pouring down now.

A Tuesday trip to the Neuse River Trail in Raleigh with one of our club members Ron, who'd not ridden the trail before. 32 miles from this parking lot access to Falls Lake & back on a muggy morning.

Like JanMM, most of our small town club fits right here in 50+ (actually 60+ would still work)

I had a crappy obligatory ride yesterday -- no vision -- but went anyway because it'd been a while and I don't want a gap in conditioning. I've been intensely focused on other things so I rode without the correct frame of mind. I didn't even start feeling warmed up until the return leg. Had a bonus close pass from a car, reminding me of the maxim that however far you are from the curb is how much room they'll give you, in this case, one foot. Could he really not change lanes? But I set him up for it; next time I'll be further out. And I'm wondering if I have an iron deficiency; I've been making dietary changes and have been assuming my multivitamin has iron, which it doesn't. So that was my day, how was yours LOL?

I finally was able to go for a nice ride on my beloved C&V '85 Fuji Del Rey road bike... You all know how the weather has been! Nice during the week, rain on the weekends, over and over and over.

Anyway, since I'm off my school bus now, I decided to go for a nice, quick, 15½ mile ride down to the James River here in Richmond, Virginia, turn around and head back home. 15½ miles in 01:01:00 for a nice smooth 15.3 mph speed.

Here's a quick photo I took, looking downstream at the James River (can't quite see the metro Richmond skyline). There is a real nice grassy lawn area along the river with a real small sandy beach too. People always walk their dogs there, wade in the river, let their dogs swim, etc...

Lastly, I continued on along Riverside Dr and kept going to the other side, under the bridge, and out to another road called Hickory that leads to another larger secondary road called Cherokee. I turned around and headed back from there.

Capped off the beautiful riding weather we've had all week with another roadie ride. SFO approach in the background.
