Not age, miles.

Did my first century ever today. Most of it went pretty well, though the last 20 miles were into a nasty wind (20 mph with gusts to 30). Not only that, but they had just "chip sealed" the roads the week before making for a real mess. I'm glad I was able to finish under the conditions.

Total time on the bike was just short of 7 hours, but I spent an hour at rest stops. I now know I'd rather spend an 8 hours day in the saddle that in a desk chair!

Special thanks to my beloved bride who let me spend so much time training. Not only that, she met me at the 80-mile mark with a Payday bar and a big hug! AND she cheered me across the finish line. She's really something special.

Staying home from work tomorrow to savor the victory.

Tony

Another virgin down. Now that you have had a taste of a new sensation I am sure you will be back for more. Start planning the next big ride! Oh - and before I forget

Awesome, welcome to the club. How many riders were there? Did you manage to hook up with a pace-line or ride on your own?

Did see some groups, but nothing like a paceline. Except for the rest stops it could have been a solo ride for me.

Very cool indeed! And with that wind at the end it makes it better.

But getting hugs during a ride almost seems not allowed, only because I can't get em! Your a lucky dude for sure

Gusty headwind and chipseal are probably the two things I dislike the most. Putting them at the end of a century -- that's just mean!

Nicely done -- to both you and your sweetie!
