Woke up-decided to do a Century

Well, it turned out to be my longest ride ever. Very nice day for the Carolinas and there was a northerly breeze that kept the humidity lower than normal. It was a pretty flat route with only about 5000 ft of climbing.

The time wasn't that great but I felt the 3 rounds of golf I snuck in this week.

At my futherest point out which was 75 miles, I stopped at a store and lo and behold there were two folks from my church that had stopped to get gas. The look on their face was priceless when they heard I'd ridden from the house.......and had about 60 miles left to go.

Interestingly I crossed 3 different Interstates.........in the first 75 miles.

The Prince made the 130 miles feel like only 30.

Now I will not feel very guilty slamming down a few hot dogs tomorrow!!

I hope the 130 miles gets erased in a couple weeks by the 160 miles on RAIN. If I can just ride behind PAlt I might just be able to make it.

Now you're ready for riding RAIN, I feel like a piker, only rode 50 today. Oh well, Fabulous Fourth tomorrow in Tryon gets me 60 more & 6K +/- of climbing.

That, in my always humble opinion, is the way to do it! Casual decision, nice day, and moderate pace.

Nice 130 JPPE. You and I were at opposite end of the biking spectrum. This morning my wife and I went to the track. We did a 30 minute warmup and I did two - 2K practice pursuits in slightly under 3 minutes each with 15 minutes rest between each one. I am sitting here in my recovery Skins with tired legs. Who would have thought that 4K, 2.48 mies could wreak such havoc.

130 miles in 7 hours and you're complaining about the time? That's over 18 miles an hour, sustained. In my book, that's a pretty darned good speed to be maintaining for that long. Of course, I don't have anything like a flat route available to me, but still...

Good job on the ride! I like getting up and deciding to do a long one, although I've only done centuries that was a couple of times. Today I got up and did 40, though!

Good ride, jppe. I didn't ride at all today, went fishing instead. And tomorrow, mowing the lawn is all the exercise I expect to get. But Sunday, I'll be doing 125 miles, riding a 200k permanent with 15 or so others. My ride time is likely to be considerably more than yours.

Nice ride jppe. My coach wont let me do any long rides like that until September, as if I would want to! Well, actually I do want to do a double sometime this year but it probably wont be until October/November until I get a couple century + rides done as preparation.
