Same with me. The only upside was that I discovered that I was putting too much weight on my hands and riding with a fracture cured me of that bad habit. PT helped restore my range of motion. Really sorry to hear about your bad luck. I hope you heal quickly and well. Here's double get-well soon wishes.

I'm with everyone here, sending commiserations and warmest wishes for a fast recovery - and, through you, thanks to your family members for looking after you.

Wow, that isn't good at all. That's gotta hurt.

I fell in a roller rink when I was 8 or 9 and cracked off a piece of my elbow.
All these years later and it's still a problem but it did help keep my out of the draft
This is not to say your case will be the same.

I'd be looking forward to telling the people at work that I'm going to be out for awhile, but I can't hold the telephone up to my face, so my wife will have to do it.
My husband had the same break on his arm. Be sure and DON'T try and do much except the exercises they give you. He was trying to ride his bike a week after the accident. My husband didn't pay attention to what his doctor said and it never healed correctly. He is regretting it now, it hurts him constantly. Some men just DON'T listen!!

That's pretty much the opposite of what my orthopod told me this afternoon. He said that movement will speed the healing process. No surgery. No casts. He said most of the pain will decline in about a week. After that I should move my arms around as much as I can stand. The way both arms feel right now on the other hand, I don't foresee any bicycling in the immediate future.

Hey, we had to hire somebody to feed me and help with other necessary personal services. When you're doing that, bicycling is rather far down on the to do list.

Heal quickly Retro! My radial head fracture came with a broken wrist, good thing you didn't do both. Wishing you well.

My husband's doctor told him to keep it moving but not to lift anything. He wanted it to be moved so the elbow wouldn't freeze up on him. Well my husband decided it was okay to try and get on the bike and ride. He found out VERY quickly that it hurt a LOT to put pressure on the arm. Day after day he kept trying it instead of letting it heal. He regrets that now. My husband can be very stubborn.

Ick! Hated hearing the news. Hope you recover quickly.

Yes, it would have been much better if you had not locked up your elbows. Pretty hard to do that though when your face is approaching the ground at high speed.

This sounds like good news. No surgery, no casts, and keep moving. Plus, your grandson will have a great story for his grandkids.

Hey, are you dictating to someone else who is doing the keyboarding?

Did you apply for a handicapped parking sticker for your bike(s) for when you get back on them?

Yeeeee-ouch!

Hope you recover much more quickly than the doctors expect, and before you get used to your new routine.

Take care.

I'm typing with one finger. It hurts too much to use both hands. To do a capital letter I have to press the caps lock key and then remember to undo it.

My personal care worker comes today. That'll be a new experience.

I broke my collarbone this time last year. I don't like the feeling of helplessness/being handicapped, but it will pass. It sounds like you will recover.

OK. I won't ask any more questions. It's ok to use ALL CAPS if you want to.

Don't feel bad. My doctor told me to do whatever I can stand. Since that is the advice that I wanted to hear I naturally listened. Yesterday was a confidence boosting day. I gained anough range of motion to wipe myself. Still can't feed myself though. This morning I'm able to type with all 10 fingers so that's another life style improvement.

The thing that I have to remind myself to be careful is walking up and down stairs. Catching myself with the handrail isn't an option. Anything that takes any degree of strength or force isn't happening yet. I'm still quite elated with my progress so far. I'm looking forward to hearing what the doctor tells me next Tuesday.

Ouch! I guess you have a good excuse to be a "grouch" for a while. Hope you heal quickly.

Just read the thread. I was alerted of the fall by one marked "day 24" or some such. I'm relieved you are doing much better.

I just got back from our BF 50+ in GWS get together and I see your post.
I am so sorry for your accident and wish you swift recovery. My wife and son just suffered such injuries and I know first hand how bad it is.
Hope to hear that you heal well soon?
