Whew!! We did it - 50+ 1st Annual Ride Completed
Whew!! We did it - 50+ 1st Annual Ride Completed
My thanks to all who made this a success.
HiYoSilver for finding the perfect Motel - a great group rate, where we could drive right up with our bikes, with a very nice (for a motel) breakfast where many of us met together in the mornings to plan our rides for the day.
To Yen for choosing two wonderful restaurants for Sunday and Monday evenings. And for some great moral support when needed.
To Beverly who got our info together into one nice printout
To cgallagh. qcpmsame, Dellphinus (and I am sure I have forgotten folks) for their help with restaurants and liability issues.
And To all who participated. (anyone who wants to can provide other than screen names)
We had folks from the LA area, Florida, North Carolina, Ohio, Illinois, Nebraska and Denver
Did we learn a lot about how to do a 50+ group ride? You bet.
Was everything perfect? No, not by a long ways.
Did I and Nora (and I hope other folks) have an absolutely fabulous weekend - YES!!
Did we do a lot of interesting and varied riding? YES
One of the interesting things to me was that we had a great diversity in purposes for being at the ride, riding levels and skills, and a lot of other differences and expectations - which gives one a hint as to how to plan for the next ride.
A very nice aspect was that we had different levels and lengths of bike trails to ride, no cars, and folks could choose when and where they - and whomever they felt comfortable riding with - could ride.
As for the next 50+ annual ride, I will leave that to someone else to volunteer to suggest locations and plan the event.
Thank you for this opportunity.
I wish more of you could have joined us.

I am so glad it worked out well and wish I had the time to make it. Being over 50 but not quite to retirement does limit ones options.

I'm glad that all of you persevered and pulled it off. And then had a great time of it!
