Woo Hoo! I get to go back to work!
Went out to the bus lot this morning. I drove 3 representative examples of our school busses. The bus with the mechanical parking brake hurt a little bit to apply but I was able to do it. The air brake busses were a piece of cake. This means I get to go back to work when the kids get off of fall break on Monday. I never thought that I'd be this happy about going to work. Eight weeks felt like a long time to be off partially because I had no firm return date.
Tomorrow I'm going to attempt spinning class and see how that goes. If it feels like too much, I can just get up and leave so I'm sure that'll be OK. A group of people that I enjoy riding with are doing a 32 miler on Friday but I'm thinking that would be pushing the envelope a little too much. I don't want any set backs. I really want to go back to work Monday.

Glad to hear you can go back to work.
Don't push it on the bike. It will be there when you're able.

I guess we've lost the opportunity to recruit you to the dark ('bent) side.
Sounds like you'll even be happy to see all the lovely children.
Enjoy working!

Soon the eight long weeks will be a distant memory. Congrats on the return to work and good luck with the class.

Have fun at work! As others have said, take it easy getting back on the bike. Pushing too hard now could result in re-injuring yourself making the 8 weeks even longer. A month from now the whole episode will just be a memory and not the constant reminders you currently feel.

Well, ain't dat cool. All those encouraging comments. Made me feel like it's my birthday.
Tried spinning class this morning. The bad news is I learned it's going to be a while before I'm ready to ride a real bike. The good news is spinning class went pretty well. I was able to raise the handlebars and shorten the reach quite a bit on the spinner. It's kind of a funny riding position but it worked. I'm happy.
