Officially 23 inches of snow in Parker, CO, where I live.

Temp is 21F and it will be sunny today.

Will be in the mid 50's tomorrow and Sunday, providing for a good melt.

Going to go swimming this morning. ALready spent about 30 minutes snow shoveling.

It is headed east - look out!!

When I went out on the porch in the dark this morning, I heard the sound of a steady rain falling. Seemed odd since there was no rain predicted. I grabbed my raincoat and headed out to the car for work. That's when I realized that what I had heard was the wind blowing through the leaves. I love this time of year.

"Iffy" is the best way to describe it. Pretty nice a couple of nights ago for our club ride. Today: rain & wind all day and into tomorrow, but it should clear up for the trick-or-treaters. It seems that most years the "change" happens right around Halloween with a cold, blustery rain. But with a bit of luck we should have enough dry calm days to keep me riding at least a day or two a week through November.

Wet leaves on the ground can be treacherous, too.

Supposedly we in the Great Lakes and northeast US are to have a milder winter this year in spite of the colder than usual summer and autumn, thanks to El Niño.

Denver,
It was rain by the time it got to Omaha. After three days off the bike due to wind/rain/work I forced myself out today. It was 43 degrees, drizzle, winds 10-30 mph. In nearly two hours I saw two other bikes on the MUPs... and maybe three pedestrians. It was kind of nice once I got warmed up, but I did not even think about stopping to rest or mess around. Very satisfying ride actually... stay warm!

The storm passed over Chicago yesterday. I've got a group ride at 8am. The weather is the same, 43 degrees, drizzle, winds 10-30 mph.

I'll have a second cup of coffee.

Well, I was informed yesterday that in the month of October here in Arkansas that there were 8 days this month that were not rainy. And this hasn't been just momentary cloudbursts, but rather the kind of cold rain that just pours from overhead all day long. The rivers are running unbelieveably high and I've commuted to work by bus an embarrassing number of days.

It's 61 F /16 C in light drizzle right now. That's about ten degrees too warm for my favorite riding temperature of 50-55 F, but a few weeks will fix that.

Cloudy and in the 40's today with gusts in the 20's but probably won't rain, so how can I complain?
First mow/mulch, then ride. Will be retiring the lawn mower for the year very soon.

Today in CenTX is a low of about 45-50 and the high is about 72. No wind. No clouds. Just finished lunch outside on the patio. I love the South (at least this time of year).

After a week of nice cool temps no higher than the 60s, today's ride began in the 50s (at 8:00) and ended in the mid-80s. Come on, Fall --- cool down and stay there!

What a nice afternoon - it has been real cold but this afternoon it was mild but windy as that big front was coming through. First ride in weeks without a jacket. Rain tonight - gets cold again tomorrow.

Todays ride is off. 55 deg- bit of rain expected (Looks like thunderstorms due for the next couple of hours) and winds will be high. No strength given but for us that will mean in excess of 30mph. Might be able to get out this afternoon if the floods have gone.

Watch out for that amount of weight loss. It will be mainly water so start drinking soon to regain that weight. Pro riders on the TDF regain all weight loss as soon as possible after the days ride. If they don't they will suffer the next day.

And body weight will come off after a hard ride and stay off.

Mid 80s during the ride yesterday. Did 90 miles with only about 6K feet of climbing after being sick all week. Had some cramps in the legs while fighting the stupid headwind near the end. Lost 5 pounds. The 2 previous Saturday rides I have been 8 pounds lighter afterward.

Sunny and 55 degrees today. Have to do something with all the down leaves today but there should be some time for a ride later. Tuesday, my next day off is also suppose to be nice. I am hoping that forecast holds up since that will be a better day to ride, less other stuff to do.

Sunny, 55-65 degrees, little wind.... I am in heaven today. More is in the forecast. Raking leaves can wait! (And just turned over 5000 miles for the year yesterday. Not much for some of you, I know, but I sure do feel good about it.)

Update from northwest Arkansas...

Sunny for the last two days. Saturday high in mid 60s. Northwest wind.

Today high in the low 70's. Southwest wind.

Rode both days... make hay while the sun shines.

Weatherman sez dry all week with moderate temperatures. Can't believe it, but not complaining.

October was wretched. Seems like Little Rock set an all-time record for rain. If we didn't set a record up here, I'd be surprised.

What cycling weather?? It is -5F and headed colder, the ground is covered with an ice base with nearly a foot of snow on top and a 10mph wind is blowing.

Inside it is great for spinning with a group though. Music and banter makes the two hours go by quickly without the b o r e d o m of a trainer in the garage.

Wonderful - 60F, no wind, blue sky, snow melting, MUPS plowed and cleared. However, due to obligations and concern for my still healing back, no riding. Sang numerous songs in church with the ensemble - 2 services, went swimming and walked home on the MUP!
