reentering cycling
I am 69 years old but at 40 I had won the gold medal for time trial in the Illinois state championships,,,,, the medal was for vets,35-45 , after the season was over I got hit by a semi and was a code in the ER, i quit racing
. I still rode the bike off and on but now I am trying to build up some miles in my legs and some speed and strength. each day I try to increase my miles and my climbing ablity .I have 4 bikes that I ride, one is a peugot course road bike. all the others are either mountain or gentleman's touring or utility bike. I call myself the Mobb- man on black bike, cuz the one I ride most often is a ratlle can black Ross Eurotour 26 inch wheel 5 speed with front freewheel system, the bike is sort of better than original cause someone put a better stem and saddle on it. . I am building a blinding lighting system based on 12 volt automotive auxilary lights and a rechargable 12volt battery from Radio shack I have spent less than 50 dollars, I figured that all these high end lighting systems that they want to sell u cant be any brghter but a lot more expensive. My bike computer said I was doing 22 mph on the flats. |
Welcome to BikeForums.
Stick with it and you'll be back to riding in no time. :thumb: |

Welcome back Mr Aquist. Sounds like biking is in your blood. Glad to know that the semi didn't finish you off.
And plus one on the lighting system. Post your plans sometime. I like do it yersef projects. |
You can always come back because like Rock and Roll, bicycling never forgets.
BTW, you may find this forum helpful and/or interesting regarding your lighting project. |
Post a pic of your bikes... and welcome. At over 60 there is presumptive membership and no need for the initiation ritual! :D
