How far in 2009?

I know some of us keep mileage records, myself included. My riding is finished for 2009 as all of my spare time, and then some, is spoken for until sometime in early January.

I thought I'd share my stats here. Unimpressive as they are, almost each and every mile represents enjoyment. Like Denver, I try to make them Smiles.

Listed by bike:
Sun EZ Sport.............................................233.5
Volae Tour...............................................1175.2
Sun EZ Tandem...........................................32.9
Easy Racers Tour Easy..............................1094.8
Trek Antelope 820......................................365.7
Raleigh Marathon.........................................16.3
Schwinn Airdyne (Indoor trainer)..................385.7

Total........................................................3304.1

I know there is some dispute over counting trainer miles, well....I rode them, they are tough, so I count them.

Anyone else care to post their totals for the year?

The last outdoor ride I had was about 2 week ago, just before leaving on a trip to Germany. I am now at 3,003 miles on my Madone 4.5; 8 miles on my Trek 7500. That's about 210 hours of riding time, which doesn't seem like much. The Madone was my birthday gift to myself in January and has more hours on it than any other piece of "exercise equipment" that I've ever owned.

Hope the roads dry off enough so I can get out a couple of times over the Christmas break.

I need to squeeze in 12 more km to get to 2700 for the year. The roads are snow-free here in Canada's banana belt, so that should not be a problem. I do not log my indoor cycling.

Just a wee bit over 4000. Hope to get in a few additional rides before the new year since the studded tires arrived in the mail today.

All my bikes have the same wiring harness and I switch a computer head to each while riding it. Most of the time I remember to put the computer head on the bike but have missed several rides. Counting all miles on the trainer, rollers, general riding, racing and fetching I have just over 7,600 miles for the year. No additional miles have been added since my ankle operation on December 1.

Since I just started riding again in June, so far this is it:

Madone 4.5 ---> 1420
Trek 6000D ---> 383
Peugeot ---> 346 (on trainer since 12/02)

My new Xmas present (Motobecane Ti cyclocross) has 10 mile test ride.

I stared in March, and do about 100 mi a week pretty regular. Assuming 40 weeks and discounting 1 week a month just for fun, I'd be at about 3000 mi for 2009. That jives pretty close with the rides I've documented on www.ridewithgps.com since mid June.

I'll be a bit better in 2010 as I have a 305 coming for Christmas/birthday. Also I have a goal to continue the 100 mi a week and 6 centuries this year.

I'll try to be sure to record any Tandem rides as the 305 will be on my single.

BTW BITSA, I am extremely jealous of your Moto Ti. That's a nice bike!

Just a little over 2700 miles way short of my goal of 3000. My last ride for '09 was on 12-6 with 56 total miles for the month. I doubt if I'll be able to ride again before the end of this year.

2009 Goal 20,000 miles

15,761 miles, 222 rides, 28 flats, cracked frame.

Only three rides this month due to medical problems.
Cranked out 102.51 miles yesterday with a sore knee.

It was a Fun Year.

Goal: 5,000 miles but will fall 300 miles short due to crummy weather in September and October. Good year all in all.

I'm a full-time commuter. Today is my last commute of the year, and I probably won't ride during vacation. I'm what they call a Transportation Cyclist.

I had 190 commutes @ 36.4 miles each (18.2 each way) for a total of 6,916 miles. Elevation change of just 2,521 feet/ride adds up to just over 90 miles of climbing.

What I am is slow. My average speed was only around 11, and I spent around 665 hours (27.7 days) riding (about 3.5 hours/day). Turtles flash their lights and yell at me to get over.

A little over 5000 miles this year (a few rides left here in Florida). 1000 miles on my indoor exercise bike, so 4000 road miles. I exceeded my goals for the year. Next year I will target the same numbers. I am happy with the 4k miles on the road and even though indoor miles don't 'count', they give me my cardio on days when I can't get outside.

Tailwinds and sunshine

Originally I was looking for a winter bike as the roads in central Jersey are not the greatest and wanted a close match to the madone. After much searching and trying many cyclocross bikes, I kept comming back to the Moto based on price and value. Eventually, my wife said to order it for Xmas as she picked out a neckless (a win for both of us). I love it, just need the snow to melt a little so I can ride it more.

I admit to "grubbing" for miles the past few days to hit a goal.

I was originally going to ride 5,200 miles, but I passed that several weeks ago, and figured I could *easily* get to 6,000 miles for the year (my highest ever). But then in November I started encountering a bunch of unexpected travel. That complicated my riding life considerably, so the past few days I've been riding through wind, rain and dark to get to 6,000 miles before leaving town tomorrow to visit a sick relative.

I rode to work yesterday in a torrential downpour, and put on still-wet gloves and boots for the ride home last night in 40-degree weather. When I got home, I still needed just over 14 miles, and there was more rain and a possibility of light snow forecast for today. So, I had dinner, recharged the lights on my battery, and switched into dry riding clothes and took off for a lap around my town at 8:30 p.m. It's a 14.5-mile lap; I've done it hundreds of times; so it was a great way to end the year. Pretty much just me, alone in the dark, with only 4 or 5 cars that passed me the entire time. I got home, put the bike away and plugged the mileage into my spreadsheet -- it rounded out *exactly* to 6,000 miles for the year.

I'm done for 2009; though I enjoyed part of every ride, I didn't like going out of my way to rack up miles the past few days.

Next year: 5,200 miles is plenty.

Approximately 1300 miles since June. Three bikes, one of which reads 1110 and the other two make up the difference. Only started biking again this year so don't feel it is too bad. Next year would like to do considerably more and, as stated elsewhere, one nice day, preferably in spring or summer, riding my age.

Still 9 more days left to count in 2009. As of end of last Saturday (Dec. 19), all of the readings are in kilometers:

Benotto 2700 Track bike (street fixie) - 14,380 to frame breakage at beginning of October
Backup Cyclops road bike converted to street fixie: 1,323 during October (of which 107 are estimated because i didn't have the computer with me in Los Cabos, MX)
Rodriguez street fixie (built in October, picked up Oct. 31): 2,527 and counting...
Dolan Track bike (ridden exclusively on the velodrome): 580
Trek carbon fiber road bike: 503
Kuwahara tandem: 1,953

Total kilometers to Dec. 19, 2009: 21,266

Note: These are odometer readings. Following the accounting principle of conservatism, all partial kilometers are truncated, not rounded.

My goal for the year was 3000 miles and I've got 3072; still have a few days of riding left, but they'll be short rides as I don't do well in cold weather.

3500 on the V-Rex since August '08. 150 miles this year on the V3 (the New Bike) and guesstimated 100 miles on the tandem this year. I hereby resolve to zero out all the cyclometers on 01/01/10. Goal for 2010 will be 3000 miles.
